Award-winning Opel Vehicles in 2022: From All-New Opel Astra to Opel Zafira-e Life

  • “Astra-nomical”: “Golden Steering Wheel 2022”1 and numerous “Car of the Year” awards for Opel compact class bestseller
  • Innovative propulsion concept: “40th KS Energy and Environment Award” for Vivaro-e HYDROGEN
  • Opel Rocks-e: Autonis Award for “Best Design Novelty” for the innovative light motor vehicle
  • Opel Crosscamp Flex: “Connected Car Award” for future campervan based on Zafira-e Life

2022 was a truly “Astra-nomical” year for Opel. Models with the Blitz once again proved to be equally popular with customers, experts and specialist juries. This is demonstrated by sales successes such as the Opel Corsa, which was the most popular small car in 2022 according to official figures from the KBA (Federal Motor Agency), or the Opel Mokka, which was the best-selling electric vehicle in its segment in Germany in autumn. Further proof is offered by the numerous awards Opel received for its innovative models, technologies and solutions – with the "Golden Steering Wheel 2022"1 for the new Opel Astra and Astra Sports Tourer leading the way. In 2022, almost every model in the Opel line-up received at least one award.

“Emotional, suitable for everyday use and above all electrified - this is already normal at Opel today,” said Opel CEO Florian Huettl. “Models like the new Astra, the Grandland or the Mokka show how we inspire people with future-proof mobility solutions. This is only possible with an exemplary team performance, and this is recognised by experts and customers alike with numerous awards. Thank you for that!”

At the beginning of 2022, Opel received the “The ONE” award for “Most Reputable Passenger Car Brand of the Year” in Turkey. Approachable, innovative and with great attention to detail, the Opel Corsa has been hugely popular for more than 40 years. The small car bestseller received several awards last year on the important British market: It was named "Best Fleet Supermini" by Fleet World, "Used Small Car of the Year" as well as "Used Car of the Year 2023" across all classes by Carbuyer. The Opel Mokka was named "Car of the Year 2022" in Latvia, "Irish Small SUV of the Year 2022" in Ireland and received the "Erin Baker Award" in the United Kingdom for the battery-electric Mokka-e.

All-New Opel Astra takes “Golden Steering Wheel”: Into a new Opel era with the serial winner

In the autumn, another great honour was bestowed on Opel when the new Astra took the “Golden Steering Wheel 2022” 1. And Opel brand ambassador Jürgen Klopp couldn’t hide his delight when seeing his own all-new Astra for the first time, stating: “Wow, there it is”. With its attractive design, top technologies and electrified for the first time as a plug-in hybrid, the compact class newcomer from Rüsselsheim convinced the readers of AUTO BILD and BILD am SONNTAG as well as the expert jury both as a five-door hatchback and as a Sports Tourer estate. The latest generation of the bestseller prevailed against strong competition and won one of the most prestigious awards in the automotive industry as “Best Car up to €50,000”. It thus completed an extraordinary serial success for Opel: After the Opel Corsa-e 2 in 2020 and the Opel Mokka-e 3 in 2021, the coveted award went to Rüsselsheim for the third time in as many years. However, as a true “champion”, the new Astra generation does not rest on its laurels. Independent GCOTY expert jury of the “German Car Awards” also voted the Astra “German Compact Car of the Year 2023” 4. And the Astra Sports Tourer estate has already won the “FAMILY CAR of the Year” award.

Elsewhere, Opel Rocks-e also impressed the public wits completely new, completely different and completely electric approach to urban mobility. Innovative light motor vehicle for two brings a breath of fresh air to its segment – with a style that is exceptional in every respect. And thus, the readers of auto motor und sport voted Opel Rocks-e “Best Design Novelty of 2022” in the “Mini Cars” category with an overwhelming majority.

And Opel’s large models added further trophies. Readers of AUTO BILD and COMPUTER BILD recently cast their votes and awarded the “Connected Car Award 2022” to the Crosscamp Flex, an electric campervan planned on the basis of the Opel Zafira-e Life. In addition, the best-selling battery-electric Opel Vivaro-e, winner of “International Van of the Year 2021” now also carries the title of “Irish Van of the Year 2022”. And the innovative Opel Vivaro-e HYDROGEN received the “40th KS Energy and Environment Prize” in Germany.

Jürgen Klopp takes delivery of New Opel Astra Plug-in Hybrid

  • “There it is!”: Successful manager now drives electrified compact-class bestseller
  • Black beauty: Opel brand ambassador’s new Astra in top Ultimate version
  • Strong and locally emissions-free: 133 kW/180 hp system power output, 360 Nm of torque, up to 60 km of electric driving range 1
  • It’s fun to drive electrically: Video shows Klopp enjoying first outing in Liverpool

“Wow, da is‘ das Ding!“ As usual for Jürgen Klopp, the successful manager comes straight to the point: “Wow! There it is!” The long-standing Opel brand ambassador has been advocating the newest compact-class generation since its world premiere last autumn. And now – as this video shows – a delighted Jürgen Klopp has taken delivery of his new Opel Astra plug-in hybrid at his “office” in Liverpool, England.

With all-new Opel Astra plug-in hybrid Klopp is driving into a new era. “My debut in electric mobility. I drive electric now - exciting!” exclaims the two-time winner of the “Best FIFA Men’s Coach” award. With a system power output of 133 kW/180 hp and maximum torque of 360 Nm his new car offers performance combined with responsibility (combined fuel consumption/emissions WLTP 2: 1.1 l/100 km; CO2 emissions 26-24 g/km). Acceleration from zero to 100 km/h is completed in 7.6 seconds and the Astra can cover up to 60 km powered only by electricity, locally emissions-free (WLTP 1). Klopp’s conclusion about his new Astra: “Looks great, feels good. Just how a car should be!”

In addition to the new Astra’s technology, Jürgen Klopp is equally impressed by its design. He even got involved himself during a visit to the Design Center in Rüsselsheim while the all-new Astra was still under development. His new five-door is also fully equipped (including with right-hand drive).

A real highlight – in the truest sense of the word – of Klopp’s Astra Ultimate Plug-in Hybrid is the newest version of IntelliLux LED Pixel Light. Adaptive, glare-free lighting system shared with the Grandland SUV flagship features 168 individually controlled LED elements. Also onboard are the Intelli-Drive driver assistance system, the Intelli-HUD head-up display and the fully-digital Pure Panel. “Everything where it should be and great craftsmanship. Well done Opel,” said the 55-year-old.

Klopp’s new Astra features ergonomic AGR sport seats in black Nappa leather (heating, massage and ventilation included). In addition to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, the infotainment system also comprises navigation and a hi-fi sound system. And thanks to Intelli-Air, the interior air of the new Astra remains as clean as possible for the driver and passengers.

Jürgen Klopp joined Opel as a brand ambassador in 2012. He has appeared in more than 20 TV commercials for the German carmaker. In addition, he has frequently taken part in dealer events and has spoken to employees at the Rüsselsheim headquarters on several occasions.

[1] Electric range (combined) WLTP: 66-73 km. Range determined according to test procedure (R (EC) No. 715/2007, R (EU) No. 2017/1151). Actual range can vary under everyday conditions and depends on various factors, in particular on personal driving style, route characteristics, outside temperature, use of heating and air conditioning and thermal preconditioning.

[2] Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions figures mentioned comply with the WLTP homologation (World Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure). WLTP replaces the New European Drive Cycle (NEDC), which was the test procedure used previously. Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions figures may vary depending on specific equipment, options and format of tyres.

All-New Opel Astra Makes World Premiere in Rüsselsheim

A NEW BLITZ IS BORN – under this motto Opel presented the all-new sixth generation of the Astra in Rüsselsheim today. In the presence of 180 journalists and in front of around 500 other media representatives via livestream, new CEO Uwe Hochgeschurtz presented the newcomer on his first day at Opel. Opel boss was supported by Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp. Opel brand ambassador was thrilled by the new Astra. Klopp had the opportunity to drive a pre-production model for a few kilometres during a visit to the Opel Design studios in the summer. For the first time, the bestseller with the Blitz is now electrified. All-new Opel Astra will be available as plug-in hybrid when the order books open in October. Purely battery-electric Opel Astra-e will additionally come onto the market in 2023. The new Astra generation is also available with highly efficient petrol and diesel engines. So customers can select their drivetrain of choice. Prices for the new Opel Astra start at €22,465.

Opel CEO Uwe Hochgeschurtz presents All-New Opel Astra

“A fantastic car! All-new Opel Astra will open an exciting new chapter in the history of Opel compact class models. This will be the first time that we offer both a battery-electric and a plug-in hybrid version of the same model. I am confident that the new Opel Astra and Astra-e will make a powerful impression and attract many new customers to the brand,” said Opel CEO Uwe Hochgeschurtz at the world premiere in Rüsselsheim.

Opel brand ambassador Jürgen Klopp and Opel CEO Uwe Hochgeschurtz

And Opel brand ambassador Jürgen Klopp described the first impressions he got from a pre-production vehicle: “I had the chance to drive a camouflaged Astra plug-in hybrid – really very impressive. Quiet and powerful at the same time, the handling almost like a sports car. And the design: bold, innovative, creative. Well done Opel!”

30 years of Opel Astra: Bestseller and face of the brand

Opel has sold almost 15 million Astra models since the premiere of the Kadett successor in 1991. 30 years later, the compact class model is more leading edge than ever. All-new Opel Astra is a design statement for the brand. Dynamic as never before, with sheer, taut surfaces, detoxed of superfluous elements and with the new brand face – Opel Vizor. Sixth generation launches this year as a sporty five-door with a low-slung look and yet more space than its predecessor. New generation was designed and developed at Opel's headquarters in Rüsselsheim where production will begin this autumn. The newcomer brings innovations to the compact class that customers previously only knew from more expensive vehicles. For example, all-new Opel Astra debuts the latest evolution of the adaptive Intelli-Lux LED Pixel Light. Lighting system comes straight from Opel's flagship Insignia, and with 168 LED elements, it leads the way in the compact and midsize market sectors.

All-New Opel Astra: Interior with Pure Panel

A leap in time has taken place in the interior of the new generation Opel Astra. With the fully digital Pure Panel, analogue instruments are consigned to history. Instead, the new human-machine-interface (HMI) with fresh, modern graphics offers customers a pure, more intuitive experience. Operation is via an extra-wide touchscreen, just like a smartphone. Never before has an Opel been so intuitive and easy to operate as the new Opel Astra.

Electric ! All-New Opel Mokka Takes to the Road

  • Electric, naturally: all-new Opel Mokka available as battery electric vehicle from start of sales
  • Testing: second generation Opel Mokka still fully camouflaged
  • Really exciting: e-power, compact dimensions, big impression

All-new Opel Mokka is on the road, still camouflaged but ready for the first important tests with Opel engineers. And it is electric ! Second-generation Opel Mokka is all-new and its new technology including e-power is being thoroughly tested, set up and validated before the market launch. Production will start in the fourth quarter of this year. First production cars will be electric and are due to arrive at customers in early 2021. Test cars hint at who is behind the camouflage: a large yellow K on the green-black flanks of the test vehicles – K as in Mokka. Yes, simply Mokka.

Opel Brand ambasador Jürgen Klopp with All-New Opel Mokka

New generation dispenses with the X-appendix in the name – as did the bestselling first generation on its debut in 2012. Back then, Opel Mokka impressed with its compact dimensions and sturdy looks. New model is likewise small and robust, but in a much more progressive and modern way - even more closely tailored to driving in the city, even more stylish to make a big impression. Extra efficient, clear and bold, and of course all-electric, right from the start of sales. Customers can enjoy the exciting purely Battery-Electric Version (BEV) but it will also be available with combustion engines.

Although still camouflaged, all-new Opel Mokka already shows its crisp proportions with short front and rear overhangs – fully aligned with the further developed Opel design philosophy. Next-generation Opel Mokka combines German engineering with a clear, “detoxed” design language. In addition, drivers and passengers will be able to enjoy a fully digitised interior. Opel designers paid close attention to reduction to the essentials.

Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller: “I have followed the development of the new Mokka very closely for two and a half years and I am very proud of this new Opel, which will be electric from the very beginning ! I can promise that all-new Opel Mokka will be one of the most exciting cars in our long history ! This second generation shows everything Opel stands for today and in the future, it will change the perception of our brand. Our engineers still have important work to do, but I'm looking forward to presenting the all-new Opel Mokka soon.”

Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller Announces Next Steps in Opel Electro-Offensive at IAA

  • Curtain-up: Opel boss Lohscheller opens stand in hall 11.0
  • World premieres: Opel Corsa, Corsa-e and Corsa-e Rally, new Astra and Grandland X plug-in hybrid
  • E-offensive for passengers and LCV: Combo Life, Combo Cargo, Zafira Life and Vivaro electrically driven by 2021
  • Electrifying range: All Opel models electrified by 2024
  • Way ahead: Opel continues fuel cell development with Zafira Life

Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller with Jürgen Klopp and New Opel Corsa-e

Opel boss Michael Lohscheller – together with special guest and Opel brand ambassador Jürgen Klopp – today opened the “OPELHAUS 120” at the 2019 IAA Frankfurt International Motor Show (public days September 12-22). Opel is going electric and the same goes for the show stand D31 in hall 11.0. In a talk with Champions League winner Klopp, Lohscheller presented breaking news about the E-offensive around LCV and eye-catching world premieres.

Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller with Jürgen Klopp and New Opel Grandland X Hybrid4

The highly efficient new Opel Corsa, the battery electric Corsa-e and Corsa-e Rally make their debut in Frankfurt, along with the first Opel plug-in hybrid, the all-wheel drive Grandland X Hybrid4 with up to 221kW (300hp) system power output (fuel consumption: WLTP 1.4-1.3 l/100km, 32-29 g/km CO2; NEDC 1.5 l/100km 35-34 g/km CO2; all figures weighted, combined and preliminary). Also making their first appearance in Frankfurt are the new Opel Astra five-door and Sports Tourer – the most efficient Astra of all time, with five engines emitting less than 100 g/km CO2and an exceptionally low drag coefficient of 0.26. Also making its premiere at a German motor show is the Opel Zafira Life that offers seating for up to nine and is packed with innovative technologies.

Opel Press conference at IAA 2019
Michael Lohscheller emphasised the importance of Opel’s electric offensive: “In 120 years of automobile production, Opel has always combined German engineering with passionate design, making pioneering technology and innovations accessible for everyone. The same goes today for electric mobility, which is why Opel has selected its most popular model, the Corsa, to finally free e-mobility from its niche existence.” That this not only applies to everyday life, but also to motor sport, is demonstrated by the premiere of the brand new Corsa-e Rally. Opel is the first carmaker to offer a battery electric car for customer rally sport, starting from next year with the ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup.

Opel Press conference at IAA 2019

Not only the passenger cars, but also the LCV will be electrically driven in future. Lohscheller added: “Opel will be sustainably profitable, global and electric. By 2024, all Opel models will be electrified. Electrically driven vehicles will be especially important for the ‘last mile’ in urban areas, for example, for transportation services or businesses. This is why I am delighted to announce today that the Opel Combo Life, Combo Cargo and Zafira Life will already be electric in 2021. And the Vivaro van will be available as an electric version in the course of next year.”

Opel Zafira Life in particular will play a key role in the further development of electric mobility. In addition to bringing hybrid and battery electric vehicles onto the market, Opel also aims to take the lead in the research and development of other pioneering propulsion systems. Lohscheller therefore announced “Opel has many years of experience in fuel cell development, which is why the team in Rüsselsheim has been named as the Groupe PSA global competence centre for hydrogen and fuel cell vehicles. The first-generation Zafira already served as technology platform for HydroGen 1 to 3. We are continuing this tradition: the new Zafira Life will be the brand’s first model to feature the new generation of fuel cell powertrain.”

Next generation small car: Opel Corsa, Corsa-e and Corsa-e Rally

Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller with New Opel Corsa-e

One of this year’s IAA stars is the new 4.06-metre long Opel Corsa. The sixth generation of Opel’s bestselling small car is more modern, dynamic and efficient than ever – in every version. It offers customers the entire drive portfolio – with its particularly economical petrol and diesel engines as well as for the first time the purely battery-electric Corsa-e with a 50kWh battery pack, 100kW (136hp) output and a range of up to 330 kilometres (WLTP3). Moderate fuel consumption and an engaging drive are characteristic of all powertrain options and the exemplary emission values reach all the way to zero when driving the Corsa-e. The sporty overall impression is matched by the reduced weight – the lightest Corsa even undercuts the thousand kilo mark – the low seating position of the driver and the finely tuned chassis. All this comes with everyday suitability and combined with technologies otherwise only known from higher vehicle classes, in particular the adaptive, glare-free IntelliLux LED Matrix light.

Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller with All-New Opel Corsa
Opel also makes a clear statement with the premiere of the Corsa-e Rally based on the production Corsa-e: the company is the first automobile manufacturer in the world to develop a battery-electric vehicle for customer rally sport. From mid-2020, Opel will start the ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup, the first rally brand cup for electric cars in the world. Sporty, emotional and accessible to customers – a project that will point the way ahead for motor sport far beyond the borders of Germany.

Opel Grandland X Hybrid4: introducing the first plug-in hybrid from Opel

Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller with New Opel Grandland X Hybrid4
With its state-of-the-art plug-in hybrid technology, up to 221 kW (300 hp) system power output and all-wheel drive, the Opel Grandland X is the second example of modern, efficient electro-mobility on Opel’s IAA stand. The propulsion system of the Grandland X Hybrid4 includes a WLTP-certified 147 kW (200 hp) 1.6-litre turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine, an electric drive system with two 80 kW (109 hp) electric motors and a 13.2 kWh lithium-ion battery.

Opel Grandland X Hybrid4 will offer four driving modes – electric, hybrid, AWD and Sport. For example, the hybrid mode allows the car to automatically select its most efficient method of propulsion, with the possibility of switching to electric mode for zero-emission driving when reaching a city centre – enabling the car to cover up to 59km in pure electric mode with zero emissions in the WLTP3 driving cycle. Sport mode uses the combined power of the petrol engine and electric motor for higher driving dynamics. Selecting AWD mode activates the electrified rear axle for maximum traction on all kinds of roads. In order to further improve efficiency, the Grandland X Hybrid4 features a regenerative braking system to recover the energy produced under braking or deceleration.

Economical petrol powertrains: Most efficient Opel Astra ever

With the new Astra, Opel keeps its promise to focus on customers and their needs. Instead of prescribing the way forward, the automaker offers the entire drive portfolio – perfectly tailored to individual driving needs. New Opel Astra demonstrates how efficient and economical modern petrol engines can be: with a completely new generation of engines and transmissions and up to 21 per cent lower CO2 emissions, the new Astra is the most efficient ever. Opel Astra also leads the way in terms of aerodynamics. With a drag coefficient of 0.26 for the Astra hatchback as well as the Sports Tourer estate, the new compact Opel is one of the most aerodynamic cars in its class. New Opel Astra is equally exemplary in terms of comfort, assistance and infotainment systems. The portfolio ranges from an even more powerful front camera and digital rear view camera, to wireless charging for compatible smartphones and a heated windscreen.

IAA starts with the press days (September 10 - 11). The show is officially open from September 12-22 (September 12-13 are trade days). From September 14, the general public can take a close look at the new automobiles and developments every day from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The New OH! from Opel! Start of Campaign for New Corsa E

  • Opel creatively continues change your mind approach with new campaign
  • New Corsa surprises with innovations from upper-class segments
  • Jürgen Klopp, Nadja Uhl, Ken Duken and Eva Padberg as brand ambassadors
  • Claudia Schiffer promoting on international stage again

The New OH! Campaign Poster 1
The launch campaign for the new Opel Corsa shows exactly what surprise sounds like, spotlighting the universally understood “OH!”. Under the direction of André Kemper, an integrated campaign was created with Opel’s international lead agency Scholz & Friends. The communication measures will be rolled out via TV, print, online and social media channels as well as in dealerships. “The new Corsa campaign adds a new chapter to our ‘Change your mind’ movement,” says Tina Müller, CMO Opel Group. “The new Corsa once again proves that it is worth it to take a fresh look at Opel.”

The New OH! Campaign Poster 2
The new Opel Corsa surprises as a small car featuring innovations from upper-class vehicle segments. Regardless of whether it is about premium technologies such as park assist, collision alert or lane departure warning, the Intellilink system for perfect connectivity, the new efficient engines or the emotional design – the reaction to the new Corsa will always be the same: “OH!”. Advertising for the brand’s bestseller started in 30 markets on December 30, 2014 with the slogan “The new Corsa. The new OH!”.

The New OH! Campaign Poster 3
The initial teaser phase aims to arouse interest in the new Corsa, while the launch phase starting on January 14, 2015 shows exactly what surprises the Corsa has in store. The first phase creates the necessary buzz via widespread billboards, ads and two short TV spots. From January 14, five different 30-second TV commercials shown on all the wide-coverage TV channels featuring Opel brand ambassadors Nadja Uhl, Ken Duken, Jürgen Klopp and the new Opel Corsa will surprise people. German supermodel Eva Padberg, a new addition to the team, uses her charm and humor to express her appreciation of the advantages of a heated steering wheel. Outside of Germany, Claudia Schiffer is again an ambassador for Opel and the new Corsa.

In addition to traditional communication channels, both phases include an extensive online presence, for which Scholz & Friends exclusively developed the campaign site neuesOh.de. The site describes the features of the new Corsa and brings them to life. The surprising productions range from interactive animations to personalized video messages. This makes entertaining and relevant content available via the main channels used by a young target audience that is hard to reach via traditional communication methods.

“The new Corsa is the new, surprising ‘OH!’ from Opel. It wins over everyone who drives it, changing minds along the way,” says André Kemper, Managing Director of André GmbH. “Opel marketing has also changed its online approach. We consistently use the potential of the digital world for the ‘OH!’ campaign. This enables us to communicate surprising information in an exceptional way and to use new means to get people excited about the brand,” says Percy Smend, Executive Board Member, Scholz & Friends Group.

Opel created the campaign in close cooperation with its lead agencies. André Kemper was responsible for the idea and realization in TV and print media. Project management, digital production along with the roll-out in over 30 European markets was overseen by Scholz & Friends. Carat was in charge of media planning and MRM was responsible for online realization. Social media activities by Knallgrau and kpunktnull round off the “OH!” campaign.

!NEW! Things Continue to Look up: 300,000 Orders for the Opel Mokka SUV

  • Bestseller: SUV is becoming a real customer favorite
  • Segment leader: most sold car in its segment in Europe in August
  • Squeaky clean: available with new, frugal 1.6-liter Euro 6 Turbo Diesel from early 2015

With whisper diesel from 2015: From next year, the Opel Mokka will be available with the new 1.6-liter Turbo Diesel
“Things are really looking up for Opel,” said Borussia Dortmund coach Jürgen Klopp when he drove the Mokka for the first time. Obviously, that is not just true for the company but also for the Mokka. In the two years since being brought to market, the sub-compact SUV has been ordered 300,000 times. Mokka sales even stepped up a gear in recent times. The latest 100,000 orders were recorded in the last seven months. In August, the Opel bestseller even managed to outsell any other car in its segment in Europe. The Mokka is the third most sold car in the Opel rankings behind Corsa and Astra but ahead of Insignia and Zafira.

Currently, the sub-compact SUV segment is the fastest growing in the automobile industry. Compared to last year, registration figures in Europe have almost doubled. Opel Mokka has become a bestseller without regard to national borders. The two-time All-wheel Drive Car of the Year winner leads its segment in Germany with almost 24 percent, in Austria with around 22 percent and in Finland with 27 percent. Throughout Europe, the Mokka achieved a segment share of 15 percent from January to August 2014 and ranks third.

SUV bestseller: Opel Mokka has already been ordered 300,000 times
“The Mokka interprets our definition of an exciting model with ultra-modern technology at affordable prices perfectly,” said Peter Christian Küspert, Vice President Sales & Aftersales Opel Group. “We are delighted with our bestseller amongst the compact SUVs. It is a guarantee for success and an important part of our model offensive. Next, it will be available with the 1.6 CDTI whisper diesel. That will definitely give the Mokka even more momentum.”

Refinement par excellence: New 1.6 CDTI

Opel Mokka SUV does not just impress with its stylish appearance, modern all-wheel drive and generous spaciousness – from early 2015, it will also be available with the 100 kW/136 hp 1.6 CDTI turbo diesel. Already dubbed the ‘whisper diesel’, the extremely compact four-cylinder unit will replace the current 1.7-liter diesel in the Mokka line-up. It gives more power and torque – up six hp and 20 Nm, respectively – from a smaller displacement, as well as significantly lower fuel consumption. The lively 1.6 CDTI is part of a new family of Opel all-aluminum diesel engines. 320 Nm of torque, from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds and a top speed of 191 km/h are figures that highlight driving fun. The whisper diesel is also extremely economical and kinder to the environment: with the standard Start/Stop system, the 1.6 CDTI Mokka consumes just 4.1 l/100 km over the combined cycle while emitting only 109 g/km CO2. This is almost 0.5 l/100 km less fuel and 11 g/km less CO2 than the predecessor 1.7-liter version. This new diesel engine complies with the stringent Euro 6 emissions standard.

Improved running smoothness, more power, better fuel efficiency: With the new 100 kW/136 hp turbo diesel, the Opel Mokka boasts a fuel consumption of only 4.1 liters per 100 kilometers
