Opel Vivaro is a true all-rounder: practical, flexible and modern with driver assistance systems at passenger car level. From now on it also looks especially sporty with the new Opel Vivaro Sportive decor set. Especially the dynamic, all-electric Opel Vivaro-e, whose 260 Newton metres of torque is available from the first squeeze of the accelerator. Strong starts from a standstill are therefore ensured.

Performance has even attracted the attention of racing driver Joachim “Jockel” Winkelhock. Long-time Opel brand ambassador, former F1 driver and winner of Le Mans as well as the DTM took the dynamic Opel Vivaro-e for an emissions-free and almost silent spin around the Hockenheimring racetrack.

Equally eye-catching is the elegant, comfortable lounge on wheels, Opel Zafira-e Life, which is now even more stylish with the specially developed Expressive decal set. Triangular patterns and lines adorn the sides, bonnet and tailgate of the battery-electric travel vehicle.

Sporty outfits for vans are a tradition in Rüsselsheim

It is no coincidence that the Opel Zafira-e Life as well as the Opel Vivaro and Vivaro-e have acquired a sporty outfit. Opel Vivaro Sport of the previous Vivaro generation was highly popular with customers. So the designers in Rüsselsheim came up with two new decors for the current Vivaro and Zafira-e Life that create a unique, more dynamic look.

Opel Vivaro Sportive decor set is available in silver or black for only €399 in Germany. Customers can order the Expressive decor, which has been specially developed for the Opel Zafira-e Life – also in silver or black – for €449 (all prices in Germany including VAT plus the price for application at the dealership).

Decor sets are not only available for new registrations, but also for used vans or vehicles already on the market. Appearance and durability of the decor sets are enhanced by the precise tailoring of the backing foils. New Opel Rocks-e KARGO: Electric Micro Delivery Vehicle

Opel Rocks-e KARGO

Opel is extending the model range of its emissions-free Rocks-e light motor vehicle with a new delivery version. Only 2.41 metres long, 1.39 m wide and 1.52 m tall, Opel Rocks-e KARGO offers professionals more than 400 litres of flexible cargo volume. With its turning circle of only 7.20 m, the quadricycle can manoeuvre down the narrowest alleys. Together with the electric driving range of up to 75 kilometres (WLTP1), this makes the Sustainable Urban Mobilty (SUM) vehicle from the German car manufacturer ideal for delivering goods such as parcels, pizza or medicines, especially in urban areas. Opel Rocks-e KARGO will be available to order initially in Germany and the Netherlands later this year – additional markets are planned to follow.

Opel Rocks-e KARGO: Innovative solution for delivery services

Instead of the passenger seat in the standard Opel Rocks-e two-seater, Opel Rocks-e KARGO has a modular cargo compartment, separated from the driver’s cockpit by a vertical wall. Nevertheless, the driver still enjoys the same space and driving comfort as in the passenger version.

Drivers can access the goods stowed in the cargo compartment via the passenger door as well as directly from their seat. For the latter, the horizontal cover above the load compartment simply lifts up towards the window. If goods are removed via the open passenger door, the cover can be lifted upwards. When the cover is horizontal again in its anchorage, it can support up to 40 kilograms and also serves as a practical desk with a slip-free work surface. Thanks to precisely shaped recesses, there is room for a delivery note and clipboard in A4 format as well as a laptop or tablet. Slightly elevated behind it, within easy reach, is another fold-away storage compartment for smaller objects such as sunglasses, calendars or pens. Height of the desk and storage compartment ensures an unrestricted all-round view.

To make the cargo compartment of the Opel Rocks-e KARGO even more flexible, the cover can be completely removed and stowed behind the driver's seat. This makes it possible to transport larger and taller objects. In addition, Opel Rocks-e KARGO has an adjustable loading floor on the passenger side that can be locked at seat height to create two separate compartments or lowered to floor level. This allows the stowage of objects up to 1.20 m long. Minimalist Opel Rocks-e KARGO thus offers more than 400 litres of cargo volume and a payload of 140 kg.

Electric, unconventional, practical: With all the strengths of the Opel Rocks-e family

Like the passenger version, the electric motor of the Opel Rocks-e KARGO produces 6 kW/8 hp of continuous power, with a maximum power output of 9 kW/12 hp, e.g. for accelerating. 5.5 kWh battery can be fully recharged in around four hours via an AC household socket. Accompanying 3.0-metre-long charging cable is permanently housed in the vehicle and simply pulled out of the passenger door when needed. Opel offers an adapter for charging at a public charging station.

Also typical for the Opel Rocks-e KARGO is the two-tone look of the front and rear, as well as the new Opel Vizor brand face. LED headlamps and LED indicators are standard. Side sills and bodywork further underline robust appearance. Doors on both sides are identical. Passenger-side door swings forward as usual, while the driver's door swings backwards in the opposite direction. A bright, pleasant interior atmosphere is provided by the standard panoramic glass roof, exceptional for a vehicle of this kind.

New Opel Rocks-e KARGO will complete the Opel SUM family later this year. Further information on prices and orderability will follow shortly.

The stylish compact SUV with the new Opel Vizor brand face and the Pure Panel cockpit has become a customer favorite since it went on sale a good year ago. Battery-electric Opel Mokka-e was not awarded the “Golden Steering Wheel 2021” 1 for nothing . Now Opel is going one step further and presenting the Mokka even sportier, even more stylish, even more individual: the special model Opel Mokka Individual, limited to 700 pieces, is now available with top equipment at a special price of 37,105 euros (RRP including VAT).

Special edition is an absolute eye-catcher in its fast-paced black-and-white look with white sports decor on the bonnet and roof, as well as chili-red wheel spoke clips. Inside, the driver and passengers look out onto an ultra-modern, fully digital Pure Panel cockpit landscape in which the 12-inch driver information display and the 10-inch color touchscreen form a flowing unit with the Multimedia Navi Pro. The glare-free IntelliLux LED Matrix light turns night into day for all road users. What is also special is that in addition to the mounted wheels, there is a second set of 18-inch light-alloy wheels with summer tires in a 5-twin-spoke design. And the 96 kW/130 hp 1.2-litre all-aluminium three-cylinder turbo petrol direct injection engine with 8-speed automatic transmission and 230 Newton meters of maximum torque (fuel consumption according to WLTP 2 : combined 6.0-5.9 l/100 km, 136-133 g/km CO2 ) .

In addition to the summer tires in 5-spoke TriColor design, the scope of delivery of the Mokka Individual also includes 18-inch light-alloy wheels for winter in 5-twin-spoke design. Stylish wheel spoke clips in chilli red underline the unconventional appearance. This promises pure sportiness: On the outside, the white decorative sports film picks up the jade white of the vehicle flanks and exterior mirror covers, emphasizing the contrast to the diamond black of the bonnet and roof; the interior reflects the sporty design language with a snow-white interior mirror cover specially for the Opel Mokka Individual.

Opel Mokka GS Line, on which the special model is based, already has extensive standard equipment: These include assistance systems from the front collision warning system with automatic city emergency braking and pedestrian detection to the intelligent cruise control and speed limiter through to drowsiness detection, lane keeping assistant, 180-degree Panoramic reversing camera and parking pilot at the rear. With Opel Mokka Individual, Park & ​​Go package with Parkpilot for the front, as well as blind spot warning and side protection, complements the wide range of safety features. Another highlight is the standard IntelliLux LED Matrix light that blends seamlessly into both sides of the high-gloss black Opel Vizor. Anti-dazzle adaptive light system enables driving with permanent high beam without dazzling oncoming vehicles or vehicles ahead.

In the interior, the driver and passengers enjoy the highest level of comfort. They are fully networked with the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible top-of-the-line infotainment system Multimedia Navi Pro. For the driver and front passenger, the journey is even more relaxed in cool temperatures thanks to the seat heating.

Vauxhall Corsa-e helps Formula Woman find future female racing stars

  • Six eventual winners will compete in full season of GT Cup championship

All-electric Vauxhall Corsa-e has helped find the next female racing stars as part of the global Formula Woman competition. More than 700 women got behind the wheel of the Corsa-e at three different racetracks in the UK during the first round of the Formula Woman assessments.  

After receiving thousands of applications, nearly 740 drivers took part in dedicated Formula Woman track days at Bedford Autodrome, Knockhill Racing Circuit and Anglesey Circuit, during which they received tuition behind the wheel of the Vauxhall Corsa-e, the all-electric version of the UK’s best-selling car in 2021. The competition, which aims to find the next top female racing driver, was open to women over 17 with a full driving licence and little or no previous racing experience.

During the day, the participants learned the fundamentals of driving on track, including racing lines and racecraft. As well as the on-track driving, each day consisted of a briefing, written and fitness tests as well as media training. Through analysing their performance in the Corsa-e as well as on the other tests, Formula Woman judges were able to pick 50 finalists from the 740 entries who will progress to the next round of assessments. 

Graeme Glew, Formula Woman Founder, commented: “Vauxhall Corsa-e really did prove to be a fabulous choice for the assessments. We were delighted with how it performed throughout, not missing a beat. It was a very easy car to drive and handled very well, it just couldn’t be faulted.”

It was a great opportunity for the applicants to put the all-electric Corsa-e through its paces and experience its impressive acceleration and agile handling. We’re wishing the finalists all the best for the future.”

Zero-emissions-in-use Corsa-e features a 50kWh battery, allowing it to travel up to 222 miles* on a single charge under WLTP testing. Supporting up to 100kW rapid charging, an 80% charge takes just 30 minutes, while a 100kW (136PS) electric motor enables Vauxhall Corsa-e to accelerate from 0-60mph in 7.6 seconds.

As well as the assessments in the Vauxhall Corsa-e, Formula Woman participants were invited to take part in further track days, simulator sessions and 1:1 driver training to help them prepare for the competition.

Formula Woman is currently preparing the 50 finalists for the next round of assessments on 2nd and 3rd March. From there, 15 drivers will progress to the penultimate stage of the competition on 4th March. The six winners will then be selected on 10th-11th March, when Vauxhall will also be providing two Corsa-e models for the finalists to use for track familiarisation. From the six winners, four drivers will claim the prize of a full season competing in the GT Cup championship, with two reserves.

ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup gets more International Profile in 2022

As the last battery-electric Opel Corsa-e Rally crossed the finish line at the final round of last year’s ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup, the preparations for 2022 began. In addition, the traction and sound of the Corsa-e Rally car underwent further development.

During the winter, the ADAC and Opel left no stone unturned in their efforts to make the world’s first electric rally cup even better. 2022 ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup promises even more excitement and variety.

Firstly, the 2022 calendar has become significantly more attractive and international. In addition to rounds of the German Rally Championship, the 100 kW (136 hp) e-cars will appear on equally challenging and exciting events in neighbouring countries. ADAC Rally Sulingen, the ADAC Rally Stemweder Berg, the ADAC Saarland-Pfalz Rally and the ADAC 3-Städte Rally form the German basis. They are complemented by guest outings on the ELE Rally in the Netherlands, the Rally Weiz in Austria and the Rally Mont Blanc in the French Alps.

Fine tuning: Better sound, even more traction

Despite the high reliability and impressive performance of the Opel Corsa-e Rally, the technology of the revolutionary rally car has been further optimised. For example, a revised limited slip differential ensures that the drivers can put even more of the 260 Newton meters of torque onto the road. The sound system has been optimised as part of the overall safety concept, making the electric rally car easier to hear and enhancing its acoustic appeal.

Image of electrified rallying continues to gain strength. Teams and drivers from all over Europe are showing interest in ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup. The rally youngsters have their eyes on the €100,000 prize money and unique chance, after proving their skills, to progress to the ADAC Opel Rally Junior Team the following year. There they will get behind the wheel of the Opel Corsa Rally4 and compete in international rallies.

“With ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup, long-standing partners ADAC and Opel have created a milestone in international motorsport”, said Opel Motorsport Director, Jörg Schrott. “We have proved that electric rallying works and is exciting. Opel wishes Walter Röhrl Happy 75th Birthday

Rally driver of the century. Best rally driver of all time. Driver of the millennium. Even the late, great Niki Lauda called him a “genius on wheels”! Who else could it be but Walter Röhrl, former Opel works rally driver, double world champion rally driver and multiple winner of the famous Monte Carlo Rally, who today celebrates his 75th birthday.

However, titles like these leave the Bavarian motorsports icon stone cold. All he ever wanted to do was prove that he was simply the best rally driver in the world. “My aim was to show that I can win in any car,” said Röhrl in the book Opel Motorsport mit Tradition. And his life’s ambition was to win the Monte Carlo Rally, which he achieved in four different cars.


Opel the reliable: Röhrl and Opel Ascona 400 defeat powerful rivals to win 1982 Monte

According to Röhrl himself (who won the 1974 European Rally Championship in a works Opel Ascona A with co-driver Jochen Berger), one of his best Monte Carlo victories of all came in 1982 with the Opel Ascona 400. “We were up against Hannu Mikkola in the Audi Quattro with four-wheel drive and at least 400 hp,” he remembers. “Our Opel Ascona 400 however, had only rear-wheel drive and 260 hp! But Opel ‘der Zuverlässige’ (Opel the reliable) did the name proud and by the second stage we were already firmly in the lead.”

Rest is history, as they say, and following the Monte win Röhrl went on to claim his second World Rally Drivers Championship title (and Opel’s first) on the gruelling Ivory Coast Rally.

Röhrl remains closely connected to Opel to this very day. For instance, he owns an Opel GT that he acquired from his former chief mechanic, Herbert Fabian. “I like to take the GT when I do the shopping,” he smiles, “it is the perfect mixture of driving fun and social acceptance – when you turn up in an Opel GT there is no jealousy, only admiration.”


ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup: “Remarkable achievement”

Röhrl, the perfectionist behind the wheel who is famous for his straight-talking, is also a keen follower of the all-electric ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup with the Opel Corsa-e Rally. “It’s remarkable what they have achieved there,” he acknowledges. “Charging is a particular difficulty. Of course, the stages have to be shorter now. Long stages that we used to drive are impossible electrically. But if that is the price for bringing rallying into the 21st century then it is the right way to go.”

Today, as usual, the sports fanatic Röhrl will celebrate his birthday on snow-shoes: “Two hours, first trampling uphill then downhill – glorious! If I don’t do sport every day I get crabby, even though I’m not as fit as I used to be. But recently I was on my bike with friends – some of them only about 50 – and I still blew them off, not only downhill, but uphill too!”

That is pure Walter Röhrl, the legendary race and rally driver idolized by motorsport fans all over the world. What else is there to say but “Congratulations and many happy returns on your 75th from everyone at Opel!”

Opel is becoming a purely electric brand

Opel is becoming a purely electric brand. By 2028, Rüsselsheim-based carmaker will have switched its entire product line-up to purely electric drives. Today, Opel already offers a comprehensive selection of electrified models. Presently, customers can order twelve electrified variants – from the small Opel Rocks-e to the large Movano-e transporter. A further battery-electric model will follow by mid-decade in the new interpretation of the Opel Manta. And the successors of the Opel Crossland and Opel Insignia will also be electric – and therefore emissions free.

“Opel is on a consistent path to going electric – and in record time. We are thus making an important contribution to reducing CO2. And we will not stop with the conversion of our product range: Together with our partners, we will be manufacturing our own high-performance batteries in Kaiserslautern as early as 2025. In addition, a resource-friendly new campus is being built at our headquarters in Rüsselsheim,” said Opel CEO Uwe Hochgeschurtz, explaining the brand’s strategy.

Opel’s ultimate goal is to offer electric vehicles that perfectly meet the demands of customers: In future, this includes driving ranges between 500 and 800 kilometres and a best-in-class fast-charging capability of 32 kilometres per minute.

Opel customers already have access to a comprehensive range of electrified models. All Opel light commercials vehicles already offer an emissions-free option. Opel Combo-e, Vivaro-e and Movano-e are battery-electric, while Opel Vivaro-e HYDROGEN offers an option with fuel cell technology.

Opel Vivaro-e HYDROGEN 

On the passenger car side, Opel Corsa-e and Mokka-e – winners of the coveted Golden Steering Wheel in 2020 and 2021 – have long since advanced to bestsellers. In Germany, the share of the battery-electric variants of these models already makes up more than 25 percent of all sales. New Opel Grandland and the new-generation Astra are both available as plug-in hybrids. Next year, the battery-electric Opel Astra-e will follow – as a five-door and Sports Tourer variant. Offer of emissions-free electric vehicles is rounded off by Opel Rocks-e, an urban electric vehicle for young people from the age of 15.

Opel Manta to return: New interpretation with electric drive

Production to start in 2025: Giga factory in Kaiserslautern

Together with partners Total/Saft, Stellantis and Opel founded the “Automotive Cells Company” (ACC). A few months ago, Mercedes-Benz joined this joint venture. With this partnership, the parties are creating a world-class player in the field of developing and producing high-performance batteries for automotive industry. In addition, partners announced that they would increase ACC's industrial capacity in Kaiserslautern to up to 32 GWh. This will see a true giga factory for modern battery cell production created in Kaiserslautern, a traditional location for component and engine production.


Brand with the Blitz: Pioneer of electric mobility

Opel was even ahead of its time when it came to the market launch of electric cars that were fully suitable for everyday use. As early as 2012, an international jury of experts voted the Opel Ampera "Europe's Car of the Year" (COTY). Opel Ampera was a coupé-like four-seater with a so-called range extender. As with today's plug-in hybrids, the battery was charged externally. When driving, a combustion engine combined with a 54 kW generator provided enough electricity at all times. The Ampera could already drive up to 80 kilometres purely electrically - with range extender support, the range grew to around 500 kilometres.

2012: Opel Ampera "Europe's Car of the Year"

A purely battery-electric compact car followed in 2016 with Opel Ampera-e, a car that put an end to range anxiety in one fell swoop. A single charge of the 60 kWh lithium-ion battery covered a distance of up to 520 kilometres (according to NEDC) - at this point around 30 percent more than the closest competitor in the segment. In addition, electric vehicle offered a performance of 150 kW/204 hp and acceleration from zero to 50 km/h in just 3.2 seconds, which is comparable to a sports car. In addition to its liveliness, 4.16-meter-long Opel Ampera‑e impressed with plenty of space for up to five passengers.

2016: Opel Ampera-e

Opel Ampera and Ampera-e were especially popular in the Netherlands and Norway, markets that were already supporting electric car purchases at the time. At the latest with the introduction of the Opel Corsa-e, Opel made affordable electric mobility accessible throughout Europe.
