Ready for the heavy duties of working life that lie ahead – that is the new Opel Movano. With its diverse range of body styles, up to 17 m3 of cargo volume and a payload of up to 2 tons, the largest light commercial vehicle (LCV) from the brand with the Blitz has always been impressive. The new Movano retains all of the class-leading qualities and adds new ones on top, such as advanced driver assistance systems that enable level 2 automated driving for the first time. Above all, with the locally emissions-free new Movano Electric, Opel continues its electrification strategy – with higher power and a longer driving range. The new electric transporter is powered by an especially strong electric motor with 200 kW/270 hp and 400 Newton metres of torque. Thanks to the new 110 kWh battery, the new Movano Electric can cover up to 420 kilometres (WLTP 1) without a charging stop, making it a capable, reliable partner, even on longer journeys. Additional versatility is provided by the new 230 V dashboard socket that enables electrical devices to be powered or recharged.

In the interior, the focus is on connectivity, ergonomics and comfort. The redesigned cockpit offers infotainment systems with up to 10-inch colour touchscreens. Wireless smartphone charging is possible, as is keyless entry and starting. An optional versatile “Eat & Work” bench seat can also be used as a work surface. Opel Movano underlines its new, modern and future-oriented character when viewed from the outside, featuring a refreshed design at the front and rear that is typical of the brand, as well as optional LED headlights.

Patrick Dinger, head of Opel in Germany: “New Opel Movano is the perfect addition to the fleet and can master heavy duties. New Opel Movano Electric demands no compromises, offering even more power and a longer driving range than before. In addition, the new Movano is available with level 2 automated driving, a real highlight in this segment. With strengths such as these, the new Movano makes fleets future-proof.”

New Opel Movano Electric: Up to 420 km range (WLTP 1) and 150 kW fast charging

New Opel Movano offers the appropriate drivetrain for every user-profile. As the locally emissions-free Movano Electric it sets standards, from the motor to the battery. While the electric motor in the Movano previously had an output of 90 kW/122 hp, the new one now produces 200 kW/270 hp. The maximum torque available from the first squeeze of the accelerator has increased from 260 to 400 Newton metres – this means that the Movano Electric can accelerate strongly from a standstill even when fully laden, and can cover distances quickly at speeds up to 130 km/h. The previous 37 and 70 kWh batteries have been replaced by a 110 kWh battery that enables a driving range of up to 420 km (according to WLTP 1). Movano Electric drivers can therefore travel up to 170 km further than before on one charge of the battery.

Depending on preferences, drivers of Opel Movano Electric can choose from three driving modes to make optimal use of the performance and range: “Normal” (limited to 160 kW power output), “Eco” for range optimisation (120 kW) and “Power” for maximum performance (200 kW). Drivers can also set four levels of recuperation under braking using paddles behind the steering wheel.

New Opel Movano Electric is equipped as standard with a 3-phase 11 kW onboard charger for AC charging. It is also the first Opel to offer the option of charging with up to 150 kW DC. At a public fast charging station, it only takes 55 minutes to recharge to 80 per cent of the battery capacity.

Additional practicality is provided by the new, optional 230V socket option. It helps to easily charge electric devices such as laptops, electric tool batteries, tablets and other low power appliances that require electricity up to 150 Watts. The socket is positioned conveniently on the dashboard in a central place and is easily accessible for front seat occupants.

Class-leading choice: Battery electric, hydrogen fuel cell or diesel

New Opel Movano also plays a pioneering role with another drivetrain alternative: in 2024, the Opel’s largest LCV will be available for the first time as the Movano HYDROGEN for those who want to travel long distances locally emissions-free and also need to refuel quickly. The innovative hydrogen fuel cell vehicle will offer a range of up to 400 km (WLTP 1) and can be refuelled with hydrogen in only around five minutes.

Three highly efficient turbo-diesel units complete the drivetrain line-up. The engines offer outputs of 88 kW/120 hp 103 kW/140 hp and 132 kW/180 hp and – depending on the power output – can be combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Together with aerodynamic improvements to the body, the drivetrains reduce fuel consumption by up to 9 per cent compared to the previous engines, which also makes the Movano a top player in the segment in terms of fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions.

Pioneer: New assistance systems enable level 2 automated driving

New Opel Movano also displays pioneering achievements among the numerous driver assistance systems. The electric power steering automatically adjusts the assistance to the speed of the vehicle. This increases driving comfort at higher speeds and makes manoeuvring in the city more comfortable. The electric parking brake is activated via a switch on the instrument panel to the left of the steering wheel.

In addition to traffic sign recognition, forward collision alert with emergency braking and side blind-spot alert, there are now new systems such as drowsiness alert, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control with “Stop & Go” function, 360-degree parking sensors, parking assist and a digital rear view mirror that further improves all-round visibility. A total of 22 assistance systems and electronic helpers make driving and manoeuvring easier.

The combination of adaptive cruise control with “Stop & Go” function, lane keep assist and traffic jam assist enables the Movano to steer, brake and accelerate itself at speeds up to 30 km/h – for example in slow traffic – provided that the driver‘s hands remain on the steering wheel. This means that automated driving at level 2 is possible with the new Movano for the first time in its successful career.

Connected, organised, versatile: New state-of-the-art Opel Movano cockpit

Opel Movano drivers can now work in a state-of-the-art, versatile and at the same time comfortable environment. The cockpit of Opel's largest LCV has been comprehensively redesigned, making it more ergonomic and, above all, more connected. As an option, the most important information can now be displayed in a fully digital, configurable 7-inch colour driver information centre. A 3D map from the navigation system can also be displayed there.

The new infotainment and navigation system can be easily operated via the 10-inch colour touchscreen located centrally at the top of the centre console. Compatible smartphones connect wirelessly to the infotainment system via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Navigation is possible using TomTom navigation maps in 3D. The most important functions can be controlled via natural speech recognition. Particularly practical for delivery services and professionals who often have to use a mobile phone at work is a shelf in the centre console for charging smartphones inductively.

Versatility is a highlight of the new Movano, not only in the variety of variants and the range of cargo-carrying options, but also in the interior. The optional “Eat & Work” bench-seat turns the cockpit into an ergonomic control centre. In just a few simple steps, the seat next to the driver can be transformed into a movable, practical work surface, e.g. for a laptop, turning the Movano into a mobile office. Alternatively, the seat can be converted into a small table with a cup holder – ideal when the time comes for a short break. And with the keyless locking and starting system (“Keyless Entry & Go”), the driver no longer even needs to take the key out of his pocket to open, start or lock the Movano.

Ready for everything: Unrivalled variety of body style options

New Opel Movano also scores points with its wide range of body styles. Four vehicle lengths, three wheelbases and three heights, as well as panel van, platform chassis, double cab, flatbed and tipper versions allow countless configuration options to suit the respective user-profile. At the same time, the Opel’s largest LCV makes no compromises in terms of payload or cargo volume. The Movano Electric can carry a payload of up to 1,500 kg, and the diesel version can carry up to 2 tons. Thanks to the practical underbody location of the battery, the cargo volume of up to 17 m3 is fully retained. The Movano Electric is also suitable for numerous conversions. New Opel Movano, Movano Electric and, in the future, the Movano HYDROGEN, will become ideal, highly efficient and resource-saving partners for heavy duties. Opel will open the order books for the Movano and the Movano Electric soon.

  • Opel further strengthens its market position in the MEA region

Opel is launching three models on the Algerian market. The Opel Mokka, Astra and Grandland will be available to order from November 19, 2023. This was announced by Opel CEO Florian Huettl, Hakim Boutehra, Managing Director of Stellantis Maghreb, and Nassim Benguergoura, General Manager of Halil Commerce & Industrie (HCI), at a press conference in Algiers earlier today. The German brand is thus returning to Algeria after six years. In 2017, the government at the time imposed an import ban on new vehicles.

“Today is a great day for the Opel brand, which is returning to Algeria. I am convinced that our state-of-the-art vehicles will delight Algerian customers and meet a wide range of mobility needs. Opel stands for German engineering, bold and pure design and efficient drivetrains,” said Opel CEO Huettl in Algiers.

Opel is thus consistently continuing its expansion into markets outside of Europe. The German manufacturer has already recorded a 60 per cent increase in sales there in 2023 compared to the same period of last year. With Algeria, a new market is now being added in the so-called MEA region (Middle East & Africa). Opel is already active in a further 13 countries in this region, including Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, South Africa and Turkey. In total, Opel is represented in 30 markets outside of Europe.

Opel will sell its vehicles in Algeria through the importer Halil Commerce & Industrie, which already has a further Stellantis brand in Fiat in its showrooms.

All-Rounder with Style: New Opel Vivaro

  • Unique: LCV multi-talent with Opel Vizor brand fascia for first time
  • Locally emissions-free: Vivaro Electric with driving range of up to 350 km (WLTP 1), also with new e-Power Take-off unit
  • Wide choice of drivetrains: Battery-electric, as Opel Vivaro HYDROGEN fuel cell vehicle, or with efficient diesel engines
  • Safety first: 18 driver assistance systems including Dynamic Surround Vision
  • Best connections: Class-leading connectivity and two 10-inch colour monitors, cockpit based on Snapdragon Cockpit Platform from Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.2

An all-rounder with a stylish appearance – this is the new Opel Vivaro that the German brand unveiled today. Businesses can rely on the proven virtues of the versatile commercial vehicle and also benefit from many new features. For the first time, the Vivaro – like the Opel car models – features the distinctive Opel Vizor brand fascia, which extends seamlessly into the optional LED headlights. In addition, the new Vivaro makes working life easier; with a total of 18 state-of-the-art assistance systems, including Dynamic Surround Vision soon, every journey becomes safer and more pleasant. In the interior, Vivaro occupants find themselves in a new cockpit: new infotainment systems based on the Snapdragon Cockpit platform from Qualcomm Technologies 2 with two 10-inch screens and wireless smartphone connectivity offer numerous customisation options.

With the new Vivaro, Opel continues its electrification offensive – more modern, more sustainable and, above all, with additional range. The new Opel Vivaro Electric offers a locally emissions-free driving range of up to 350 kilometres (according to WLTP 1). Also unique in this segment is the “e-Power Take-off Unit”, which can be used to supply other electrical devices with power from the traction battery. The new Vivaro will also be available as a further developed hydrogen fuel cell transporter. Every business can therefore choose the type of drivetrain it prefers.

Opel CEO Florian Huettl: “Our best-selling Opel Vivaro is now even more modern, practical and sustainable. With a newly designed, digital cockpit, further extended electric driving range and the innovative HYDROGEN option, the all-rounder is the heart of our LCV offensive. This means that every business can find Opel Vivaro best suited to its requirements.”

Stylish, electrified and practical: New Opel Vivaro unites car and LCV qualities

Versatile and practical in daily use, the new Vivaro is also good looking. The Opel LCV bestseller – like its smaller sibling, the Opel Combo – brings the characteristic Opel Vizor brand fascia to the LCV segment for the first time. The Vizor extends seamlessly across the front of the vehicle, integrating the headlights and the Opel Blitz emblem in the middle.

New Opel Vivaro Electric is available with either a 50 kWh or 75 kWh battery. With the further developed 75 kWh battery on board, a range of up to 350 kilometres (WLTP1) is possible without a charging stop – over 20 km more than before. To ensure particularly energy-efficient driving, the Vivaro Electric has a regenerative braking system that can be adjusted in three recuperation levels using paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. The electric vehicle can be charged quickly using the standard 11 kW onboard charger. At a 100 kW DC fast charging station, a short stop of around 38 minutes for the 50 kWh and 45 minutes for the 75 kWh battery is necessary to charge from 5 to 80 per cent of the battery capacity.

New Opel Vivaro Electric is powered by a 100 kW/136 hp electric motor. The maximum torque of 260 Newton metres is available from the first squeeze of the accelerator, so that the locally emissions-free van can accelerate briskly up to a top speed of 130 km/h. Depending on their preferences, drivers can choose between three driving modes: Normal, Eco and Power.

Completely new is the possibility of using the traction battery as a power source for other electrical devices. This works via the “e Power Take-off Unit” (initially with 400 V), which can be connected to the vehicle. In this way, no additional batteries or generators are needed. In addition, with a height of around 1.90 metres, the Vivaro Electric is suitable for underground parking and, thanks to the practical underfloor design of the battery, offers full versatility in terms of space utilisation and loading volume.

For those who want to drive with zero local emissions and “refuel” even faster, Opel will in future offer the further developed Vivaro HYDROGEN. The fuel cell vehicle has a range of more than 400 km (WLTP1) and can be refuelled with hydrogen in just a few minutes. Highly efficient diesel engines with power outputs from 88 kW/120 hp to 130 kW/177 hp complete the line-up.

The line-up of body variants is as wide as that of the drivetrain: the new Vivaro is available in two lengths (4.98 m and 5.33 m), as a panel van, a crew cab and a platform-chassis for a variety of bodies. Depending on the version, the new Vivaro offers up to 6.6 cubic metres of cargo volume and 1.4 tons of payload.

Car-like: New digital Opel Vivaro cockpit

The new Opel Vivaro cockpit welcomes the driver and crew with car-like ergonomics, comfort and styling. The new infotainment and navigation systems with a digital 10-inch colour driver information centre and 10-inch colour touchscreen above the centre console use – for the first time in Opel light commercial vehicles – the integrated Snapdragon Cockpit platform from Qualcomm Technologies 2 and enable, among other things, state-of-the-art graphics, multimedia and computer vision capabilities. Compatible smartphones can be charged inductively and connected wirelessly to the Multimedia infotainment systems via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Eighteen advanced driver assistance systems make work trips and manoeuvring easier and safer. The new Dynamic Surround Vision is particularly beneficial, especially in a panel van. The system comprises two cameras, one located above the rear doors and another under the passenger-side exterior mirror. The images – of the rear while driving and (when activated by the indicator stalk) of the side blind-spot – are displayed in the new high-definition digital rear view mirror. In comparison to conventional mirrors, the system provides increased vision, enabling the driver to manoeuvre more safely.

Systems such as forward collision alert with emergency braking, intelligent cruise control, lane keep assist, drowsiness alert, trailer stability control and flank guard complete the range of electronic helpers. Adaptive cruise control with stop and go function is also available as a new option for the Vivaro.

In addition, the storage spaces around the instrument panel and the centre console have been enlarged, making it easier to stow everyday items. This makes the new Opel Vivaro a versatile “workhorse” and load carrier, which also offers the comfort and handling similar to those of a car, making the time behind the wheel more pleasant and relaxing. The order books for the new Opel Vivaro and the new Vivaro Electric will open soon.

Ready for Business: New Opel Combo

  • Unmistakable: Opel Vizor makes LCV-premiere on new Combo
  • Segment first: New Combo brings IntelliLux LED Matrix Light to Opel LCV range
  • Uncompromised: Locally emissions-free Combo Electric offers full functionality
  • Digital and intuitive: Class leading connectivity and 10-inch colour touchscreens, cockpit based on Snapdragon® Cockpit Platforms from Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.1
  • Dynamic Surround Vision: Rear and side blind-spot images visible in new high-definition digital rear view mirror

Opel released details of the new Combo light commercial vehicle (LCV). In addition to a newly designed front end and a new digital cockpit, the new generation compact van, which retains all the advantages of the previous model, is also the first in its market segment to feature state-of-the-art IntelliLux LED Matrix Light. The locally emissions-free new Opel Combo Electric also offers an extended driving range.

In addition to the electrically-driven variant, the new Opel Combo is also available with petrol and diesel engines, with the latter offering an automatic transmission as an alternative to the manual gearbox. Both drivetrain versions of the new Opel Combo are available in two lengths, with a choice of two or three front seats. The new Combo is additionally offered as a five-seat Crew Cab.

Opel CEO Florian Huettl: “The new Opel Combo is class-leading! In addition to its proven talents as a transporter, the new Opel Combo also features advanced technologies that make work safer and more pleasant. In addition, the locally emissions-free Combo Electric now offers more driving range – the perfect package for professionals.”

With its characteristic Vizor brand fascia familiar from Opel’s newest passenger cars the new Opel Combo is instantly recognisable. Creating a single visual unit that stretches across the front of the vehicle, the Vizor integrates the Blitz brand emblem with the signature front lighting system.

Premiere: IntelliLux LED Matrix Light in Opel Combo class

New Combo is not only the first Opel LCV to be equipped with adaptive, glare-free IntelliLux LED Matrix Light, it is also the first in its class with this technology. As soon as the vehicle leaves urban areas, the matrix headlamps with a total of 14 LED elements automatically switch to high beam and continuously adjust the length and distribution of the light cone. When lights from a car are detected ahead, individual LEDs switch off to cut the car out of the main beam and avoid dazzling fellow drivers. LEDs switch back on automatically as soon as the system detects no lights from other vehicles

In addition to optimum night-time vision, the new Opel Combo Electric also offers an extended driving range. The all-electric new compact van, with a choice of Eco, Normal and Power driving modes, can travel up to 330 kilometres on a single charge of its new 50 kWh battery (WLTP combined cycle2), 50 km further than its predecessor. This is made possible by further development of the all-electric drivetrain and – for the first time in the Combo – a highly efficient heat pump that helps to conserve battery range in low temperatures. Powered by the newest generation electric motor with 100 kW/136 hp and 270 Newton metres of torque, the new Combo Electric can reach a top speed of 130 km/h. With a 7.4 kW on-board charger as standard (11 kW optional), the battery can be recharged to 80 per cent of its capacity in less than 30 minutes at a 100 kW public charging station.

New Opel Combo Electric: Uncompromised, locally emissions-free transportation

Outstanding strength of the new Opel Combo Electric remains its ability to transport and tow heavy loads. Like its predecessor, the new all-electric compact van continues to offer up to 4.4 cubic metres of class-leading storage space (the same as its combustion engine siblings), while the 780 kg payload and the 750 kg towing capacity are both best in class.

To optimise the driving experience still further, the Combo’s cockpit and ergonomics have also received an upgrade in user-friendliness. The new infotainment systems with 10-inch colour touchscreens use – for the first time in Opel LCVs – the integrated Snapdragon Cockpit Platform from Qualcomm Technologies1, enabling enhanced graphics, multimedia and computer vision capabilities. The systems are compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Alternatively, the new Combo is available with an innovative smartphone station. After connecting to the station via a dedicated app, the user’s smartphone becomes the vehicle’s infotainment control panel, also interacting with the steering wheel buttons. In the new Combo Electric, paddles behind the all-new steering wheel enable the driver to select three levels of recuperation for the regenerative braking system.

Safer manoeuvring: Rear and side cameras deliver images to digital rear view mirror

When it comes to protecting its occupants and other road users, the new generation Opel Combo remains a class leader. The new safety highlight is Dynamic Surround Vision. The system comprises two cameras, one located above the rear doors and another under the passenger-side exterior mirror. The two images – of the rear while driving and (when activated by the indicator stalk) of the side blind-spot – are displayed in the new high-definition digital rear view mirror. In comparison to conventional mirrors, the system provides increased vision, enabling the driver to manoeuvre more safely.

Additional safety is offered by the extensive range of up to 18 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) – many as standard – including Intelligent Speed Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Advanced Emergency Braking and Driver Attention Alert. Adaptive Cruise Control is optionally available.

Technologically advanced, spacious and able to shoulder heavy loads, the new Opel Combo is a convincing choice for professionals in the market for a capable compact van. Making no compromises on functionality, the new all-electric variant also boasts the strengths of its combustion engine siblings combined with the ability to operate locally emissions-free in suburban as well as urban areas. Sales of the new Opel Combo and Combo Electric are scheduled to start by the end of this year.

Motor Show Appearances: Opel Rocks e-XTREME in Zurich and Essen

  • Unique interpretation: Opel Vizor with bi-functional LED lights
  • Weight saving: PA12 used for mudguard flares
  • Special suspension: Motorsports dampers with special 50 mm spring system

After featuring prominently at this year’s IAA Mobility in Munich and Belgium’s largest urban sports festival, the Brussels Urban Sessions, the Opel Rocks e-XTREME will soon excite the public again at the Auto Zurich (November 2 to 5; hall 2, booth B15) and the Essen Motor Show (December 2 to 10; hall 7, booth A10).

The unique concept is based on the Opel Rocks Electric, the cool quadricycle that offers locally emissions-free driving fun for two from the age of 15 in Germany. The Rocks e-XTREME is the winner of the #OpelDesignHack, a challenge which allowed the Opel community to take part in the build of a concept car. Opel took the claim of the challenge – “You design it, we build it” – literally and turned the design into reality.

The engineers at Opel set themselves a challenging task, as they wanted to stay as close as possible to the 3D model when building the one-off. The Opel Vizor has also been reinterpreted and equipped with bi-functional LED lights from LIGHTWORKS GmbH. The indicator, position and daytime running lights are all homogeneously illuminated and have a suitable heat dissipation concept.

To keep the weight low, the Vizor and mudguards were produced using 3D printing. Here Opel cooperated with 4D Concepts GmbH. For example, the mudguard flares are made of PA12 – a nylon polymer often used for its toughness, tensile strength and ability to flex without fracturing.

Another unmissable highlight of the Rocks e-XTREME are its unmistakable offroad looks. To realise the “off-roader” appearance the team in Rüsselsheim reached out to the damper specialists H&R. The unique dampers were developed especially for the “Design Hack” and consist of an aluminium coil-over strut combined with a 50 mm spring system.
