Successful SUV: More than 500,000 Opel Crossland Produced

  • Popular: More than half a million units have already rolled off the production line
  • Flexible: Sliding rear seat and up to 1,255 litres of boot volume
  • Clear and bold: Opel Crossland with unmistakable Opel Vizor and striking rear end

Clear and bold design language, highly flexible and equipped with cutting-edge technologies – Opel Crossland is highly popular with customers. Compact SUV with the Blitz bolt has become a real sales hit since its launch in 2017. Now Opel Crossland has broken through the 500,000 mark.

There are many reasons for its success: At a length of just 4.22 meters, the Opel Crossland combines maximum interior variability with plenty of space for the whole family. This is ensured, among other things, by the 60/40 split-folding rear seat bench, which can be moved longitudinally by up to 150 millimetres, depending on the variant. This increases the boot volume from 410 to 520 litres in no time at all. If the rear seats are folded down completely, there is even room for 1,255 litres.

In addition, it comes with numerous assistance systems that make driving in the Crossland relaxed and safe. Standard electronic helpers include Intelligent Cruise Control and Speed Limiter, Lane Keep Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition, as well as bright Full LED headlights. Systems such as Forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, Driver Drowsiness Alert, Head-up Display, 180 degree Panorama Rear View Camera, IntelliGrip adaptive traction control and more are also available.¨

Opel Crossland not only impresses with its versatility and top technologies, but also with its modern look. Since last year, it has been sporting the unmistakable new Opel design, including the Vizor: For example, only a few elements such as the characteristic Opel Blitz are visible; the front looks as if it has been cast from a single mold and is visually wider. Rear view is equally clear and boldly designed to catch the eye. Here, Crossland has been confidently bearing its name centrally on the tailgate since the beginning of 2021. In Germany, the extensively equipped Opel Crossland Elegance starts at 25,540 euros (RRP incl. VAT) 1.

Successful model is produced at the Zaragoza plant in Spain. Opel has already announced that the successor, like every new Blitz model, will also be electrified. From 2028 onwards, Opel will purely sell electric vehicles in Europe.

[1] Opel Crossland Elegance 1.2 Direct Injection Turbo with 81 kW/110 hp and 6-speed manual gearbox. WLTP combined fuel consumption: 6.1-5.7 l/100 km, CO2 emissions 137-129 g/km. Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions figures mentioned comply with the WLTP homologation (regulation EU 2017/948). From 1 September 2018, new vehicles are type-approved using the World Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP), which is a new, more realistic test procedure for measuring fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. WLTP fully replaces the New European Drive Cycle (NEDC), which was the test procedure used previously. Due to more realistic test conditions, the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions measured under the WLTP are in many cases higher compared to those measured under the NEDC. Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions figures may vary depending on specific equipment, options and format of tires.

New Opel Grandland Hybrid4

Every Opel Grandland variant is highly equipped. Standard items include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition and drowsiness detection, as well as cruise control with speed limiter.

New Opel Grandland GS Line

Exterior design of the new Opel Grandland features the Opel Vizor new brand face. Inside, the entry-level variant already has the Pure Panel that combines a seven-inch Driver Information Center with a similar-sized colour touchscreen for operating Apple CarPlay and Android Auto via the Multimedia infotainment system.

Even in the Business Edition entry-level variant, available for €27,250, the parking pilot for front and rear, the automatic parking assistant, the reversing camera and the blind spot warning system further increase safety. For matching performance, the Grandland is powered by a 96 kW/130 hp 1.2-litre turbo petrol direct injection engine (Fuel consumption with manual six-speed gearbox; NEDC 1: urban 6.2-5.8 l/100 km, extra urban 4.9-4.5 l/100 km, combined 5.4-5.0 l/100 km, 124-114 g/km CO2; WLTP2: combined 7.1-5.9 l/100 km, 161-133 g/km CO2).

Those who want to drive purely electrically and thus emission-free with a lot of power can choose one of the two plug-in hybrid variants. The new Grandland Hybrid can be ordered as a Business Edition starting at €44,290 (only €37,112 with the German environment bonus (Fuel consumption; WLTP2: 1.8-1.3 l/100 km, CO2 emission 41-29 g/km; NEDC1: 1.9-1.5 l/100 km, 43-34 g/km CO2; both combined).

New Opel Grandland as Hybrid and Hybrid4

With a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine and an electric motor providing drive to the front wheels, the Opel Grandland Hybrid produces system power of 165 kW (224 hp) and up to 360 Nm of torque. Propulsion system of the Opel Grandland Hybrid consists of a 133 kW (180hp), 1.6-litre turbocharged, direct injection four-cylinder petrol engine, an 81 kW (110hp) electric motor and a 13.2 kWh lithium-ion battery. Electric motor is coupled to an electrified eight-speed automatic transmission and the vehicle accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds. Driving purely on electricity, the Grandland has a top speed of 135 km/h. Maximum speed is 225 km/h.

New Opel Grandland Hybrid: 1.6 T petrol engine and one electric motor and 13.2 kWh battery

Opel Grandland Hybrid4 combines the power of a 1.6 turbocharged petrol engine and two electric motors for a system power output of up to 221 kW (300 hp). WLTP 2 fuel consumption (weighted, combined) is 1.7-1.2 l/100 km with 39-28 g/km CO2 (NEDC1: 1.6-1.5 l/100 km, 37-33 g/km CO2).

New Opel Grandland Hybrid4: 1.6 T petrol engine and two electric motors and 13.2 kWh battery

Maximum speed of the Opel Grandland Hybrid4 is 235 km/h, with sports car-like 0-100 km/h acceleration of 6.1 seconds. Electric unit consists of two electric motors at the front and rear axles. The power of the front electric drive corresponds to 81kW (110hp) and that of the rear 83kW (113hp). The system power output totals 221 kW (300hp). Front electric motor transfers its power to the front wheels via an electrified eight-speed automatic transmission. Second electric motor and the differential are integrated in the rear axle, which turns the Opel Grandland Hybrid4 into a permanent all-wheel drive vehicle with optimum traction. Also, the high torque of the electric motors is available right from the first squeeze of the accelerator, delivering optimum traction on loose surfaces.

With the Grandland Hybrid4, drivers can choose between four different driving modes – “Hybrid”, “Electric”, “All-Wheel Drive” and “Sport” – depending on their preferences and requirements. “Hybrid” mode focuses on optimising the vehicle's fuel consumption, enabling a range of up to 65-55 kilometres in the WLTP2 cycle (69-67 km NEDC 1).

Regenerative braking captures kinetic energy during deceleration that would otherwise be dissipated as heat. The customer can choose from two recuperation modes that turn the electric motors into generators, so that electrical energy can be returned to the 13.2 kWh battery and stored.

Efficient petrol and diesel engines

At the same time, customers are free to choose the type of drive they want, depending on their requirements and individual preferences. Combustion engines that complete the portfolio of the new Opel Grandland are also characterised by high efficiency and low consumption. 1.5 litre turbo diesel with 96 kW/130 hp provides 300 Newton metres of maximum torque from 1,750 rpm and is available with an eight-speed automatic transmission (Fuel consumption; NEDC 1: urban 4.6-4.3 l/100 km, extra-urban 4.2-3.6 l/100 km, combined 4.4-3.9 l/100 km, 115-103 g/km CO2; WLTP 2: combined 5.9-4.9 l/100 km, 154-128 g/km CO2).

1.2 all-aluminium turbo petrol direct injection engine also develops 96 kW/130 hp and delivers its maximum torque of 230 Newton metres from just 1,750 rpm. The engine is available with a six-speed manual gearbox (Fuel consumption; NEDC1: urban 6.2-5.8 l/100 km, extra-urban 4.9-4.5 l/100 km, combined 5.4-5.0 l/100 km, 124-114 g/km CO2; WLTP 2: combined 7.1-5.9 l/100 km, 161-133 g/km CO2) or eight-speed automatic transmission (Fuel consumption NEDC 1: urban 6.3-5.8 l/100 km, extra-urban 5.0-4.4 l/100 km, combined 5.5-4.9 l/100 km, 126-112 g/km CO2; WLTP 2: combined 7.3-6.1 l/100 km, 166-137 g/km CO2).

Pure Panel, Night Vision, IntelliLux LED Pixel Light

Two widescreens in a single unit form the Opel Pure Panel. This fully digital, driver-oriented cockpit is intuitive to operate and makes a multitude of buttons superfluous. It comprises the latest digital technologies and delivers the most important information. In addition to the up to 12-inch Driver Information Centre, the up to 10-inch central touchscreen also faces the driver, who can therefore concentrate on driving without needing to take his or her eyes off the road.

New Opel Grandland Hybrid4: New interior Pure Panel

Opel’s SUV flagship is now equipped with adaptive IntelliLux LED Pixel Light. 168 LED elements – 84 per headlamp, as on the Opel Insignia – result in a seamless adaptation of the light beam according to the driving situation and surroundings, without glare for other traffic.

New Opel Grandland Hybrid4: IntelliLux LED Pixel Light

Another technology that further increases the safety of all road users when driving at night is Night Vision. The system’s infrared camera detects people and animals up to 100 metres ahead, based on their temperature difference from the surroundings, and warns the driver.

New Opel Grandland Hybrid4:

Also new in combination with automatic transmission is Highway Integration Assist. Using a camera and radar sensors, the system combines various assistants. Adaptive cruise control maintains the distance to the vehicle in front according to the set speed, while active lane positioning keeps the Grandland in the middle of the lane. Thanks to “Stop & Go”, the Grandland automatically resumes driving from a standstill.

Confident appearance and high comfort

Exterior design displays typically clear lines. Opel Vizor stretches across the front, while the Grandland name and the Blitz brand logo stand in the middle of the tailgate. Further accents are set by the bumpers and side panels, now in high-gloss black or body colour depending on the version, as well as the underbody skid-plates in high-gloss black and silver.

New Opel Grandland Hybrid4: Opel Vizor

Ergonomic front seats certified by the “Aktion Gesunder Rücken e.V.” (“Campaign for Healthy Backs”) are unique in the Grandland’s class and offer a wide range of adjustments. In the leather trim they offer heating and even ventilation. Comfort is further increased by “Keyless Open & Start” and the power tailgate.

Top-of-the-line Multimedia Navi Pro infotainment system makes travelling especially relaxing. Wireless charging in the centre console provides neat and tidy “refuelling” for compatible smartphones.

New Opel Crossland

Crisp and compact on the outside, very spacious and versatile on the inside with cool SUV looks. That is the new Opel Crossland, which is the first model to adopt the brand’s unmistakeable new face, showcased just a few weeks ago by the new Opel Mokka. As with the Mokka, new Opel Crossland dispenses with the X-appendix in its name. In addition to the design, Opel has further developed the Crossland’s chassis, steering and added a sporty GS Line+ trim as well as IntelliGrip adaptive traction control.

New Opel Crossland: IntelliGrip adaptive traction control

Organically integrating the grille and headlights, Opel Vizor of the new Crossland extends in one single sweep across the front of the vehicle. Vizor optically stretches the width and organises the fascia with a reduced amount of elements. Brand’s legendary lightning-flash emblem proudly dominates the centre. Vizor will become a hallmark of all Opel models in the course of the 2020s with the idea of further clustering top technologies.

New Opel Crossland: Opel Vizor covers whole fascia - integrating grille and headlights

At the rear, new dark-tinted taillights enhance the signature Opel wing light design, and the new high-gloss black tailgate surface (available in combination with the black roof) makes the new Crossland look wider and stronger.

Also new are the front and rear skid plates (painted silver on the Ultimate model variant), LED front fog lamps (with chrome décor on Ultimate and Elegance), a chrome door moulding for the Ultimate trim, plus stylish 16 and 17-inch light-alloy wheels. Former are available in silver, high-gloss black bi-colour or high-gloss black, while the latter come in high-gloss black bi-colour or high-gloss black.

New Opel Crossland: 17-inch light-alloy wheels

Fans of sporty looks will get their money's worth with the Crossland GS Line+. This new trim, including black 17-inch light-alloy wheels, black roof, red signature daylight opening, AGR-certified ergonomic seats (Aktion Gesunder Rücken e.V.) for driver and front passenger, LED taillights and roof rails make the compact SUV really stand out from the competition.

New Opel Crossland: Interior with Alcantara and AGR ergonomic seats

Generous feeling of space and the first-class AGR ergonomic front seats in the Opel Crossland will make long trips even more comfortable. SUV also convinces with a high level of flexibility, thanks to individually sliding and reclining rear seats. They come with a 60/40 split and slide by up to 150 millimetres, increasing trunk space from 410 to a class-leading 520 litres in seconds. Folding the rear seats completely increases trunk volume to 1,255 litres.

New Opel Crossland: New springs and dampers for the McPherson strut front suspension and the torsion-beam rear axle

Dynamic drivers will especially appreciate the improvements Opel has made to the Crossland’s chassis. Opel engineers in Rüsselsheim have developed new springs and dampers for the McPherson strut front suspension and the torsion-beam rear axle. In combination with the new steering column intermediate shaft, which improves steering precision and centre-feel, the chassis of the new Crossland delivers an optimum balance of comfort and agility.

New with IntelliGrip: Optimum traction at all times

New Opel Crossland buyers can add extra safety to the enhanced driving dynamics with IntelliGrip (available from early 2021). This adaptive traction control system enables optimum traction and stability on all kinds of surface. IntelliGrip features the following five modes:

  • Normal / On-road: ‘Normal mode’ switches on as soon as the Crossland starts up. ESP and traction control settings are appropriate for normal driving conditions downtown, on the motorway or in the countryside.
  • Snow: This special winter mode enables optimum traction on icy and snowy surfaces at speeds up to 50 km/h. Traction control regulates the slip of the front wheels, slowing down the spinning wheel and transferring the torque to the other front wheel.
  • Mud: This mode allows more wheel slip. This intentional spinning of the wheel with the least traction when the vehicle is launching enables the removal of mud from the tyre, which can then regain traction. Meanwhile, the wheel with the most grip receives the highest torque. This mode is active up to 80 km/h.
  • Sand: This mode allows a small amount of simultaneous spin of both the front-driven wheels, enabling the vehicle to move and reducing the risk of sinking.
  • ESP Off: This deactivates ESP and traction control at speeds up to 50 km/h. For safety reasons, IntelliGrip automatically returns to ‘normal mode’ at speeds above 50 km/h.

Drivers and passengers can enjoy not only strong grip, they are also well connected and entertained thanks to the range of infotainment systems comprising Radio BT, Multimedia Radio and the top-of-the-line Multimedia Navi Pro with 8.0-inch colour touch screen. Multimedia units are also compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Compatible smartphones are chargeable while in use via wireless inductive charging. In addition, the Crossland offers the “OpelConnect”1 service as an option. LIVE Navigation 2 with real-time traffic information and current fuel prices, plus a direct link to breakdown assistance and emergency calls makes journeys even more relaxing.

Euro 6d petrol and diesel engines: Driving fun with low emissions

Opel Crossland customers can choose from a powertrain portfolio of efficient petrol and diesel engines with 1.2 and 1.5 litre displacement. Both the petrol engines with 61 kW (83 hp) to 96 kW (130 hp) and the diesel engines with 81 kW (110 hp) and 88 kW (120 hp) now meet the strict Euro 6d emissions standard.

Trendsetting lighting technology and innovative assistance systems

Journeys will be even more relaxing and safer with the numerous ultra-modern technologies and assistance systems available with the Opel Crossland. Adaptive Full-LED headlamps with cornering light, high beam assist and auto levelling ensure outstanding visibility in the dark.

Most important assistance systems of the new Opel Crossland at a glance:

  • Head Up Display (HUD) projects the most important data on speed, navigation and assistance systems into the driver’s direct line of sight.
  • Forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection operates at speeds above 5 km/h. If a vehicle or pedestrian ahead is approached too fast, the system sounds a warning chime and displays a message in the Driver Information Centre. If a collision is imminent, the braking system is prepared and, if necessary, emergency braking is deployed to minimise the effects of a potential collision. Below 30 km/h, the system can bring the vehicle to a complete stop. If the speed exceeds 30 km/h, speed is reduced and the driver must actively brake.
  •  Lane Departure Warning issues audible and visible signals if it registers that the lane is being left unintentionally.
  • Driver Drowsiness Alert evaluates fatigue level through the driving style and alerts the driver if a break is necessary.
  • Side Blind Spot Alert uses ultrasonic sensors and reports vehicles travelling to sides of car and alerts the driver with a warning light in the relevant mirror.
  • Panorama Rear View Camera with 180-degree angle of sight at rear.
  • Automatic Park Assist identifies suitable parallel and perpendicular parking spots and parks the car automatically; the driver only needs to operate the pedals and gear shift.
  • Cruise control with speed limiter, together with Speed Sign Recognition, enables quick and easy adherence to the speed limit.

Opel will soon open the order books for the new Crossland, which will arrive at dealerships in early 2021.

World Premiere: Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller Presents All-New Opel Mokka

  • Prices for new generation of bestseller start at €19,990 in Germany
  • Brand ambassador Jürgen Klopp impressed by new Mokka
  • All-New Mokka debuts with Opel Vizor, Pure Panel and redesigned Blitz and central nameplate at rear
  • Clear, bold design, compact dimensions, seating for five
  • Choice of electric drive or highly efficient combustion engines at start of sales
  • Opel-typical comfort and high-tech from higher market segments

Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller presented all-new Opel Mokka to the public for the first time today at the company’s headquarters in Rüsselsheim. Due to the strict hygiene rules, only a small audience was able to attend the premiere. However, no one needs to miss anything, as a video of the event is available on YouTube.

All-new Opel Mokka arouses emotions and shows the way forward for the brand. It is the first to wear the new brand face, the Opel Vizor. Same goes for the redesigned Opel Blitz lightning bolt emblem and the centrally aligned model name at the rear. All-new Mokka is also the first Opel with the Pure Panel and a fully digitised cockpit. In addition, it is the first Opel available at the start of sales with electric drive as well as highly efficient combustion engines. All-new Opel Mokka can be ordered now at an attractive entry-level price of €19,990 (all prices RRP including VAT in Germany).

Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller Presents All-New Opel Mokka

“With the all-new Mokka, we have virtually reinvented Opel. We designed and developed the car from scratch here in Rüsselsheim. Whole team worked with unprecedented passion and unwavering commitment to lead Opel into a brilliant and exciting future. At the start of orders, the new Mokka is available as a petrol, diesel or pure electric vehicle – the customer has the choice,” says Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller.

Opel brand ambassador Jürgen Klopp totally shares the enthusiasm. He already saw a pre-production car in the spring that he was able to drive. And the Liverpool FC manager could not resist the opportunity to send his congratulations via video, in typical Klopp style: “The new Mokka looked really cool in its war paint, but now, in reality? Honestly, it’s amazing! And best of all, it drives as great as it looks!”

For prices starting at €32,990 (RRP including VAT in Germany), the new Mokka-e drives emissions-free. With local incentives applied, the price is even lowered to a moderate €23,420. The powerful, almost silent electric drive produces 100 kW (136 hp) and 260 Nm maximum torque from a standing start. In the WLTP 1 cycle, the 50 kWh battery enables a range of up to 324 kilometres before recharging is required.

Breathtaking design: Mokka first model with Opel Design and Opel Pure Panel

All-new Opel Mokka impresses with perfect proportions and precision down to the smallest detail. Short overhangs and a wide stance are typical of the bold, pure appearance of the 4.15-metre long compact five-seater. Most striking feature of the front view is the unmistakable Opel Vizor. As with a full-face helmet, a protective vizor covers the new Opel face, seamlessly integrating the vehicle grille, the LED headlights and the newly designed Opel Blitz lightning bolt emblem in one element. The Mokka nameplate appears for the first time at the centre of the tailgate with a specially designed font that forms the word “Mokka” in a technical, flowing, lively way.¨

All-New Opel Mokka-e: Interior with Pure Panel

Interior also reflects the clear philosophy. New Opel Pure Panel integrates two widescreen displays and focuses on the essentials. In contrast to cockpits overloaded with information and controls, the Pure Panel is a uniquely clear design. It is clearly structured and understandable at a glance. Opel designers attached great importance to digital detoxification. In order to avoid driver distraction, they ensured the intuitive operation of the system. Buttons still control the most important functions, but without having to navigate through submenus.

Customer chooses: Electric drive or state-of-the-art combustion engines

All-new Mokka is the first car in Opel’s history that will be available at the start of sales with an all-electric model variant as well as with combustion engines – thanks to the CMP multi-energy platform. Electric motor produces 100 kW (136 hp) with 260 Newton metres of maximum torque immediately available from a standing start. Drivers can choose between three drive modes – Normal, Eco and Sport. With its 50 kWh battery, the Opel Mokka-e has a purely battery-electric range of up to 324 kilometres according to WLTP 1. Whether wall box, high-speed charging or cable solution for the household socket, the new Mokka-e is ready for all charging options: from single-phase to three-phase at 11 kW. Opel offers an eight-year/160,000 km warranty for the battery.

To make the journey in the new Opel Mokka-e even more relaxing, OpelConnect, the myOpel app and Free2Move Services, the mobility brand of Groupe PSA, offer special solutions for electric vehicles. These are easy to use via apps.

Lively yet economical petrol and diesel engines offer power outputs ranging from 74 kW (100 hp) to 96 kW (130 hp). Moderate fuel consumption and superior performance are characteristic of all powertrains (preliminary combined fuel consumption NEDC 2: 4.8-3.8 l/100km, 111-100 g/km CO2).

High efficiency and lively performance distinguish the new engines. Internal friction and losses are minimised. Turbocharger also responds immediately, with strong torque development at low rpm. The engines come with a modern six-speed manual gearbox or a smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic with shift paddles.

Marcus Lott Managing Director Engineering Opel Automobile GmbH

In addition, the engineering team in Rüsselsheim has worked particularly hard on reducing weight on the one hand (saving up to 120 kg vs the previous generation) while enhancing the body stiffness on the other. Benefits are obvious: all-new Mokka consumes substantially less, while being much more responsive, agile and fun to drive.

Innovations for all: IntelliLux LED Matrix light, Top assistance systems

All-New Opel Mokka: IntelliLux LED Matrix light

All-new Mokka stays true to Opel's brand-defining tradition of making innovative technologies from higher market segments available to a wide range of buyers. These include advanced systems such as Advanced Cruise Control (ACC) and Active Lane Positioning. Lighting system also offers leading technologies with the adaptive and therefore glare-free IntelliLux LED Matrix light featuring 14 elements, which is unique in the Mokka’s market segment. All model variants come as standard with an electric parking brake as well as Traffic Sign Recognition. A 180-degree rear view camera, Flank Guard, Side Blind Spot Alert and Automatic Park Assist are also available.

All-New Opel Mokka: 180-degree rear view camera

All-new Mokka connects and entertains drivers and passengers perfectly. Infotainment offer includes Multimedia Radio and Multimedia Navi systems with a 7.0-inch colour touchscreen and the top-of-the-line Multimedia Navi Pro with a high-resolution 10.0-inch colour touchscreen. Monitors are integral with the new Pure Panel and angled towards the driver. Display of the Driver Info Centre extends to 12 inches.

All-New Opel Mokka-e: Interior with Alcantara

Excellent seat engineering is typical of Opel. A sporty Alcantara and a classic leather interior are both available – highly unusual for a vehicle in the Mokka’s market segment. Crowning glory is the heated leather seat with massage function for the driver. Driver and front-seat passenger can place their smartphones in the storage tray provided in the centre console, where compatible telephones can recharge inductively (wireless).

[1] Preliminary fuel consumption and CO2 emissions figures mentioned are determined according to the new World Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure WLTP (Regulation EU 2017/948). This new trim – including as standard red signature daylight opening, high-gloss black Vizor, black instead of chrome exterior trim elements and badges, specific front seat fabric, red instrument panel trim, black-finished light alloy wheels, two-tone roof and black headliner – make the Mokka a real eye-catcher.

Innovative technologies for all: All-New Mokka continues Opel tradition

All-new Mokka stays true to Opel's brand-defining tradition of making innovative technologies from higher vehicle classes available to a wide range of buyers. These include advanced systems such as ACC (Advanced Cruise Control) and Active Lane Positioning. Lighting system also offers leading technologies with the adaptive and therefore glare-free IntelliLux LED Matrix light featuring 14 elements, unique in the segment. All Mokka model variants come standard with LED lights at the front and rear, an electric parking brake as well as traffic sign recognition. A 180-degree panorama rear-view camera and automatic park assist is also available.

All-new Opel Mokka is based on a new version of the company's highly efficient multi-energy platform CMP (Common Modular Platform). This lightweight and efficient modular system offers maximum flexibility in vehicle development and allows the use of a purely battery-electric drive as well as internal combustion engines. Customer has the choice.

Engineering team in Rüsselsheim has particularly worked on massively containing weight on one hand, saving up to 120 kg vs the previous generation, and enhancing the body stiffness on the other hand. Benefits are obvious: All-New Opel Mokka consumes substantially less, while being much more responsive, agile and fun to drive.

New engines: Ideal balance between efficiency and performance

Lively yet economical petrol and diesel engines offer power outputs ranging from 74 W (100 hp) to 96 kW (130 hp). Moderate fuel consumption and superior performance are characteristic of all powertrain options (preliminary fuel consumption NEDC 1: combined 3.8-4.8 l/100km, 100-111 g/km CO2).

  • Fun starts with the entry-level 74 kW (100 hp) 1.2 Turbo combined with a six-speed manual gearbox (preliminary fuel consumption NEDC 1: combined 4.6 l/100km, 104 g/km CO2).
  • Higher performance is supplied by the 96 kW (130 hp) 1.2 Turbo. Despite the strong power output, fuel consumption of the all-aluminium engine remains moderate with either of the six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmissions (preliminary fuel consumption NEDC1: combined 4.5-4.8 l/100km, 103-111 g/km CO2).

Wide torque plateau for petrol engines: Top driveability

High efficiency and lively performance are characteristic of the new petrol engines. Internal friction and friction losses are minimised. Turbocharger also reacts immediately, with strong torque development already at low rpm. Maximum torque of the 74 kW (100 hp) 1.2 is 205 Nm; the top 96 kW (130 hp) unit even develops 230 Nm. With the majority of maximum torque available in a wide band, both engines are notable for their high driveability. At least 95 per cent of maximum torque is available between 1,500 and 3,750 rpm – in combination with the low vehicle weight, this enables very good driveability.

Driving performance matches the high efficiency of the engines. All-new Opel Mokka with 96 kW (130 hp) and manual transmission reaches a maximum speed of 202 km/h 2, with zero to 100 km/h acceleration in 9.2 seconds. Equally impressive is the 1.2 Turbo with 74 kW (100 hp). With a top speed of 182 km/h, it accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in around eleven seconds.

74 kW (100 hp) entry-level engine is fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard. With the 100 kW (130 hp) 1.2, customers can choose from a six-speed manual or a smooth eight-speed automatic. Adaptive shift programmes and Quickshift-technology represent the state-of-the-art in the Mokka’s market segment. Drivers can shift gears themselves via the standard paddles at the steering wheel.

High-tech and high efficiency: 1.5 diesel

Two petrol engines are joined by a lively 1.5-litre diesel with six-speed manual transmission, producing 81 kW (110 hp) and maximum torque of 250 Nm (preliminary fuel consumption NEDC 1: combined 3.8 l/100km, 100 g/km CO2).

For optimum exhaust after-treatment, the diesel engine’s emissions reduction system – consisting of a passive oxidation catalyst/NOx adsorber, AdBlue injector, SCR catalyst and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) – is grouped together as a compact single unit, as near as possible to the engine. The NOx adsorber acts as a cold start catalyst, reducing NOx emissions at temperatures below the SCR light-off.

Fans of electric-mobility can order the Opel Mokka-e. Ccommon Modular Platform (CMP) accommodates a variety of powertrains.

Leader in the segment: High-tech assistance systems and lighting technology

All-new Opel Mokka arrives in the B-segment with top innovations that until recently have only been available in the luxury class. Forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection operates at speeds above 5 km/h. If a vehicle or pedestrian ahead is approached too fast, the system sounds a warning chime and displays a message in the Driver Information Centre. If a collision is imminent, the braking system is prepared and, if necessary, emergency braking is deployed to minimise the effects of a potential collision. Below 30 km/h, system can bring the vehicle to a complete stop. If the speed exceeds 30 km/h, speed is reduced and the driver must actively brake.

Adaptive cruise control maintains a certain distance between the new Mokka and the vehicle ahead, using radar and camera sensors. Operative between 30 and 180 km/h. Vehicle speed increases or decreases to follow the vehicle ahead, but will not exceed the set speed. With automatic transmission, the system offers additional stop and go functionality. It can brake the car to a standstill and follow the vehicle ahead in traffic jams.

All-new Mokka underlines again that Opel is a leader in lighting technology. All variants are equipped with latest generation LED lamps – from daytime running lights in typical Opel graphics to headlamps and front fog lights. An absolute highlight in this segment is the adaptive IntelliLux LED Matrix light with a total of 14 elements. As with the Opel Insignia, Opel Astra and the new Opel Corsa, the lighting system enables driving on permanent high beam. In order to prevent glare for drivers of oncoming or preceding vehicles, the individual LED elements can switch off in milliseconds to cut vehicles out of the light cone – nobody is dazzled, yet Mokka passengers experience stadium-like illumination. In the rear, the choice for LED-only technology has allowed designers to go for very thin, stretched lights enhancing the feeling of precision and quality.

Excellent seating engineering is par excellence typical of Opel. Various six-way ergonomic seats are available, which are individually adjustable. A sporty Alcantara and a classic full leather interior are both orderable – highly unusual for a vehicle in the B segment. Crowning glory is the heated leather seat with perforated surface and massage function for the driver

Driver and front-seat passenger can place their smartphones in the storage tray provided in the centre console. Compatible telephones recharge here inductively (wireless). A formed rubber mat prevents the devices from sliding around.

New infotainment range perfectly networks and entertains Opel Mokka drivers and passengers. Multimedia Radio and Multimedia Navi systems with a 7-inch colour touchscreen and the top-of-the-line system Multimedia Navi Pro with a high-resolution 10-inch colour touchscreen are available. Monitors are integral with the new Pure Panel from Opel and ideally positioned towards the driver.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible multimedia systems feature integrated voice control. All-new Mokka also offers the OpelConnect service. LIVE navigation 3 with real-time traffic information, plus a direct link to breakdown assistance and eCall make journeys even more relaxing for drivers and passengers. If the airbags or seatbelt tensioners deploy in an accident, eCall contacts the local Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) automatically.

State-of-the-art powertrains for maximum fun-to-drive

All three and four-cylinder engines belong to a new generation of state-of-the-art power units. The 1.5-liter diesel with 90 kW (122 hp) forms the basis (see table below for all consumption figures) at start of sales, another entry-level petrol engine will follow in the coming months. Compared to its predecessor, NEDC 1 fuel consumption is up to 18 percent lower. Three-cylinder units are up to 50 kilograms lighter than their predecessors in the previous model. Above them in the Insignia range come 2.0 petrol engines with 147 kW (200 hp) and 169 kW (230 hp) in the GSi. 2.0-liter petrol units are also the first Opel engines with cylinder deactivation. Unless the driver needs high power, the variable camshaft control deactivates two cylinders and lowers fuel consumption. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel (127 kW/174 hp) completes the portfolio.

New low-friction gearboxes further reduce fuel consumption and at the same time increase comfort. Insignia customers can choose from a six-speed manual gearbox, an eight or nine-speed automatic and a particularly economical, stepless transmission, which will be available in the course of the year.

New Opel Astra

New Opel Astra Sports Tourer

Thanks to excellent aerodynamics as well as highly efficient new engines and transmissions, the new Opel Astra sets standards for efficiency and low emissions. Compared with the previous model, CO2 has been cut by up to 19 percent, putting the Astra at the top of the compact class. Current Astra generation already ushered in a new era at its premiere and was elected European Car Of The Year 2016. With its lightweight design (200 kg lighter than the predecessor) and top technologies from higher classes, the Astra set benchmarks. Opel continues to pursue this strategy with ultra-modern new generations of highly efficient and lightweight petrol and diesel engines. The 1.2-1.5-litre three-cylinder power units produce 77 kW (105 hp) to 107 kW (145hp), making both the Astra five-door and Sports Tourer real fuel-saving and CO2 champions (NEDC fuel consumption: urban 6.1-4.5 l/100 km, extra-urban 4.0-3.1 l/100 km, combined 4.8-3.6 l/100 km, 115-96 g/km CO2; WLTP combined: 5.9-4.4, 139-117 g/km CO2; preliminary figures). A counter-rotating balance shaft in the block of the three-cylinder engines offsets vibrations. Base power units already have a six-speed manual gearbox as standard. A smooth-shifting nine-speed automatic is optional.

Meticulous development in the wind tunnel also made a significant contribution to the reductions in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. As a result, the new Astra is one of the most aerodynamic compact cars on the market.

Aero-benchmarks have been achieved through numerous measures, including an engine compartment cover, deflector-shaped rear axle control arms and a full-face shutter. The upper and lower portions of the new Astra’s radiator grille automatically open and close independently of one another, further improving the frontal airflow. The underbody optimisation improves the drag coefficient by reducing turbulence.

Astra’s dynamic chassis has been further developed. New shock absorbers increase comfort. The optional sports chassis features stiffer dampers, a more direct steering and a Watts link at the rear axle.

“We focussed on reducing fuel consumption and emissions during the development of the new Astra”, said Christian Müller, Managing Director Engineering. “Thanks to the excellent aerodynamics as well as new-generation engines and transmissions, we reduced CO2 emissions by up to 19 percent. That is a huge step to the benefit of our customers, who can also profit from lower running costs. This all puts the new Astra at the top of its class.”

Thanks to state-of-the-art emissions reduction technologies such as Gasoline Particulate Filter (GPF) and diesel Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), all the Astra’s new powertrains already meet Euro 6d. The strict emissions standard first comes into force for all new registrations in 2021. The all-aluminium diesel and petrol engines are equipped as standard with fuel-saving stop/start technology.

But the new Opel Astra, which can already be ordered in a few weeks, not only boasts exemplary aerodynamics and engine technology. It also comes with many other top technologies, from the new front and rear view camera to the digital speedometer and the next generation of infotainment. The E-Call emergency call system is also on board. A wireless charger in the centre console for smartphones is optionally available.

New Opel Astra: grille in 3D-look

New Opel Astra front impresses with a grille in 3D-look. And while the interior transforms into a concert hall with the optional high-end Bose sound system, Opel Astra turns heads with the optional High Gloss Black Pack.

Efficiency champions: Up to 19 percent lower CO2 emissions

Low consumption and CO2 figures are also enabled by the modern six-speed manual gearboxes, the seven-speed Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) and new nine-speed automatic.

New turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, which are as economical as they are lively, are primarily responsible for the exemplary efficiency. Low consumption and CO2 figures are also enabled by the modern six-speed manual gearboxes, the seven-speed Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) and – for the first time at Opel – a new nine-speed automatic.

New Opel Astra: 9-Speed-AT HydraMatic

Compact, three-cylinder, turbo petrol units are available with 1.2 and 1.4 litre displacements. With power outputs extending from 81 kW (110 hp) to 107 kW (145 hp) and maximum torque from 195 to 236 Newton metres, they achieve an excellent balance between performance and efficiency (NEDC fuel consumption: urban 6.1-5.4 l/100 km, extra-urban 4.0-3.8 l/100 km, combined 4.8-4.4 l/100 km, 110-101 g/km CO2; WLTP2 combined: 5.9-5.2, 136-120 g/km CO2; preliminary figures). Astra 1.2 is combined with a smooth-shifting six-speed manual gearbox while the Astra 1.4 is available exclusively with a new seven-speed continuously variable transmission (CVT). With the CVT, Astra drivers can enjoy the convenience of automatic gear changing or select gears themselves via the shift lever.

Integration of the water-cooled exhaust manifold in the cylinder head contributes to quick engine warm-up, which lowers emissions after a cold start.

New Opel Astra: Three Cylinder 1.2 Direct Injection Turbo

Compared to the previous model, the fuel consumption and CO2 figures of the 77 kW (105 hp) and 90 kW (122 hp) Astra diesels have been reduced by up to 17 percent and around 10 percent respectively.

Instead of the precise, six-speed manual gearbox, the most powerful diesel is optionally available with the seamless shifting of a new nine-speed automatic transmission, which is making its debut at Opel in the Astra.

The diesel engines feature an electrically-activated turbocharger with variable geometry turbine vanes (VGT) and, similar to their petrol counterparts, a balance shaft in the block for additional refinement. Likewise, the exhaust manifold is also integrated in the cylinder head.

Optimum exhaust after-treatment of the Astra 1.5 diesel is delivered by the emissions reduction system consisting of a passive oxidation catalyst, AdBlue injector, SCR catalyst and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF).

Fully digital: New front and rear view camera, digital speedometer

New Opel Astra: Digital speedometer

Opel Astra already offers a portfolio of state-of-the-art technologies and assistance systems that is unrivalled in this vehicle class – first and foremost the intelligent, glare-free IntelliLux LED Matrix light. The extensive offer also includes systems such as adaptive cruise control, following distance indication, forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking, traffic sign recognition and lane keep assist, to name but a few. Also available are AGR-certified (Aktion Gesunder Rücken e.V.) ergonomic seats with ventilation and massage function. New Opel Astra is also highly digitalised with a new optional high-tech front camera as well as rear view camera.

New Opel Astra: AGR-certified Ergonomic seats with ventilation and massage function.

New front camera is smaller, but more powerful than before thanks to a faster processor. It now not only recognises vehicles, but also pedestrians – an important safety bonus. Furthermore, thanks to the high-resolution camera, traffic sign recognition can now process even more traffic signs and show them as symbols on the display. Digital rear view camera available in conjunction with the new Multimedia Navi Pro infotainment system is also more powerful. View of the traffic behind the vehicle on the monitor is more distinct and precise; the contrasts are more visible in the dark.

Opel Astra customers enjoy top connectivity with the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible systems Multimedia Radio, Multimedia Navi and Multimedia Navi Pro. They belong to the newest infotainment generation – smarter, faster and more intuitive. Top-of-the-line Multimedia Navi Pro – as in the Opel Insignia flagship – has an eight-inch colour touchscreen and can also be operated by voice control. Connected Navigation services with real-time traffic information and online map updates make the journey more relaxed. The navigation display itself appears with redesigned symbols in a fresher, more modern look. The same applies to the instrument cluster: drivers in the new Opel Astra are the first to have a digital speedometer.

Optionally available is the E-Call emergency call function. If needed, help is just seconds away by pressing the red button. If the seatbelt tensioners or airbags are deployed, the system automatically makes an emergency call.

Driving pleasure: Wireless charging and Bose sound system

Comfort is a top priority in the new Astra. A practical feature when travelling: compatible smartphones can now also be charged inductively via wireless charging. All you have to do is insert your smartphone into the opening provided in the centre console – a flat battery is a thing of the past.

The new Astra transforms into a concert hall with the optional Bose high-end sound system. A total of seven loudspeakers including a RichBass subwoofer under the boot ensure optimum listening pleasure. The driver and passengers are surrounded by a rich sound – regardless of where they are in the vehicle. In addition, up to eight different sound profiles can be stored via the digital amplifier – depending on the taste and preference of the music lover.

Last but not least, the new Astra introduces another comfort feature that makes driving in the cold season more pleasant and safer: the heated windscreen. Fine, almost invisible wires in the windscreen ensure that Astra drivers quickly have a clear view of the road on frosty days and that the windscreen no longer fogs up.
