Best in class: Opel flagship wins category for “4x4 cars up to €40,000”
Grip-champion: Advanced Twinster four-wheel drive with torque vectoring
Hat-trick: All-wheel drive title already won twice by bestselling Opel Mokka SUV
Opel Insignia with torque-vectoring four-wheel drive is "All-Wheel Drive Car Of The Year 2019"
Opel Insignia with torque-vectoring four-wheel drive is "All-Wheel Drive Car Of The Year 2019". The Opel flagship was elected winner in the category for cars costing up to €40,000 by the readers of Auto Bild Allrad. Opel Insignia thus repeats the success of the bestselling Opel Mokka SUV, which was previously elected all-wheel drive car of the year twice in succession.
“Thank you to the well-informed readers of Auto Bild Allrad for their appreciation”, said Opel Germany Marketing boss, Christina Herzog, at the prize-giving in Berlin. “Our Opel Insignia offers an engaging drive and the highest safety, especially with the advanced four-wheel drive system. This respected award shows that readers and customers see it the same way.”
Opel Insignia model range – with sales of more than one million units – is a wise choice for families as well as fleets. The current generation of the Insignia family comprises the Grand Sport, Sports Tourer, Country Tourer and the top-of-the-line, particularly sporty Insignia GSi NEDC (1) fuel consumption Insignia GSi with 154kW (210hp) BiTurbo diesel and eight-speed automatic transmission: urban 9.6 l/100 km, extra-urban 5.6 l/100 km, combined 7.1 l/100 km, 187-186 g/km CO2; WLTP2 fuel consumption: combined 7.8-7.4 l/100 km, 204-193 g/km CO2).
Sports-chassis of the Opel Insignia GSi offers limpet-like levels of adhesion. A major contribution comes from the all-wheel drive with torque vectoring. In this high-tech system a conventional differential on the rear axle is replaced by two clutches, which can accelerate each rear wheel individually in fractions of a second, depending on the driving situation.
All-Wheel Drive Car Of The Year” competition organised by Auto Bild features ten categories of cars and prices. Experts make a selection of eligible models, which readers then vote for. They have one vote for each category, which they give on www.autobild.de. The winner of each category is decided by the readers’ votes.

wheels they like most. There are also be special ranges of leather trims
and styling elements. Thanks to Opel Exclusive, your car becomes your
personal visiting card.
One of a kind – Insignia paint à la Opel Exclusive
With
Opel Exclusive, buyers who configure their new Insignia can choose from
15 special colours, in addition to the 10 colours in the regular price
list. For an additional €2,500 RRP including VAT,
the spectrum includes Dynamic Orange, Tornado Blue, Panther Black or
Light Champagne. However, customers can also give their Insignia a
really personal touch. This could be the colour of their favourite tie
or their horse box, so that the complete combination is in the same
colour, or in any other shade – all for €5,9001.
Opel Exclusive buyers can also choose their preferred paint finish:
Metallic, containing aluminium particles in various sizes.
Pearl effect, containing minute fragments of ground mica or aluminium particles.
Solid finish, for a particularly strong tone, without any additional contents.
Tinted
clear-varnish finish. The final layer of clear varnish is lightly
coloured, giving this intensive and brilliant paint additional depth.
A visit to the Opel dealer – and the experts do the rest
The
first stop on the way to a dream-Insignia is the local Opel dealer. The
customer hands over, for example, a colour sample in the form of a
picture, photo or colour code and production of the unique Insignia can
begin. Production of the exclusive flagship starts at the Rüsselsheim
plant. After a dip into the immersion bath in the paint shop, where the
base coat is applied – the body is temporarily removed from the regular
production line.
At the same time, the Exclusive experts have
already begun their work. Weeks before they actually touch the real
body, they begin to develop the colour of the car. Gradually they
approach the customer’s preference. As soon as the experts are ready,
the customer receives a colour-swatch in the form of a 15
centimetre-long model car. If the customer is satisfied, around nine
kilograms of this paint are made. This is sufficient to paint the body,
the roof antenna, mirror housings and other add-on parts. The precise
colour formula is archived and the customer receives his personal
“colour ID”. This can also be found inside the car, in case the paint is
needed again. When all the parts are painted, the body returns to the
assembly line. Opel Insignia Exclusive is then completed in a
computer-controlled process, until it leaves the line as a fully
equipped, finished car. Even a smartphone cover with Opel Exclusive logo
is available in the chosen colour !
More than a paint job – fine equipment for the Opel Insignia Exclusive
The
advantages of Opel Exclusive go far beyond an almost unlimited variety
of colours and paint finishes. Customers can also decorate their
dream-car with the “High Gloss Black Exterior”: the usually chrome parts
such as the grille bar, fog lamps, window frames and – on the Sports
Tourer and Country Tourer – roof rails are transformed into high gloss
black. Special 18 and 20-inch light-alloy wheels, which perfectly match
the dynamic appearance of the Opel flagship, are also available. Inside,
customers can further personalise their car with exclusive leather and
decorative trims, which can also be combined with “regular” Opel Insignia
options.

be additionally operated by embedded voice control.
To enable the driver to fully harmonise with the Insignia, the
next-generation Multimedia Navi Pro infotainment system offers
personalisation through user profiles. Up to five drivers can define
their own profiles, allowing them to save numerous adjustments from
climate-control settings to their preferred equalisation for the speaker
system. Favourite destinations, playlists and points of interests are
all stored according to the personalised profile, enabling the driver to
concentrate on their journey. Future evolutions of the personalisation
feature will include personalised search and routing, based on
individual driving patterns.
The Insignia model range (Grand Sport, Sports Tourer, Country Tourer
and GSi) will be the first to feature Opel’s next generation of
infotainment systems.
With their stylish design and state-of-the-art
functionality, as well as their intuitive operation, Multimedia and
Multimedia Navi Pro offer high customer appeal. They will significantly
strengthen Opel’s reputation as a leader in seamless automotive
connectivity and in-car entertainment. The rollout will continue on
additional models later this year and in 2019.
Enjoy superb view in Opel Grandland X, Crossland X, Insignia Sports Tourer, Insignia Country Tourer, Zafira and new Combo Life
Brilliant outlook: Passengers in the Opel Grandland X can enjoy an
unimpeded view of the sky thanks to the panoramic glass sunroof.
Spring is finally here, the grey sky has turned blue and it stays
light until late in the evening. So everything is looking good, and it
looks even better through the large panoramic roofs from Opel. The
automaker offers high-quality glass roofs that grant a unique panorama
view for many of its models. So the bright blue sky and the starry night
can be enjoyed in the SUV newcomer Grandland X, the Insignia Sports
Tourer and Insignia Country Tourer flagships, the Crossland X city SUV,
the seven-seat Zafira and the brand new Combo Life from a completely new
and unexpected perspective.
“The panoramic roofs in our Opel models make every drive an
exceptional experience. The passengers in the first and second rows
enjoy a perfect view, which adds to the fun and adventure. And the
Grandland X, Insignia Sports Tourer and co. look very stylish with the
high-quality glass roofs,” says Opel Managing Director Sales and
Marketing Peter Küspert.
The two SUV newcomers Opel Grandland X and Opel Crossland X cut
a fine figure with their sporty design and optional two-tone paint, and
the panoramic glass sunroof opens up new horizons. At the same time,
the glass roof ensures a light-flooded interior. When the sun is too
strong, an electric sunblind provides protection for the passenger
cabin. The panoramic roof can be ordered for the Grandland X for €700
and, depending on the trim level, from €570 for the Crossland X (all
prices RRP including VAT in Germany).
Passengers in the Opel Insignia Sports Tourer and the Opel Insignia Country Tourer
also feel close to the sun. The 1,400 x 860 millimetre electric
panoramic sliding glass roof extends over the heads of the rear
passengers and gives the sporty Opel flagships a particularly
sophisticated touch. It also has a sunblind and can be conveniently
closed via the central remote control. In addition, Insignia customers
can adjust the front of the roof so that it lifts a bit and prevents
annoying wind drag. Equipped with additional functions such as
pre-selection and anti-trap protection, the elegant sliding, tilting
glass roof is available for €1,285.
The Opel Zafira makes
occupants feel like they’re on vacation the minute they set off on
their journey. The panoramic windscreen flows into the panoramic
sunroof, offering an unobstructed view similar to that of plane cockpit
for €1,300 extra. The windscreen stretches from the hood almost to the
B-pillar while the panoramic sunroof with electric sunblind reaches to
the rear of the car, enhancing the interior’s light and airy lounge
atmosphere. The flexible van with up to seven seats is a versatile,
stylish travel companion for the whole family.
Soon the portfolio of Opel models with great views will be completed by the new Opel Combo Life.
The optional panoramic roof not only ensures a light interior
atmosphere, it is also extremely practical. When ordered with the
panoramic roof, the Combo Life comes with overhead storage running down
the centre of the vehicle with LED lighting as standard. Furthermore, in
this configuration the newcomer is also fitted with a large 36-litre
storage box mounted above the hat tray in the boot. This enables use of
some of the space normally not utilised – without impeding the view of
following traffic through the rear view mirror.
Opel Grandland X, Crossland X, Insignia Sports Tourer, Insignia Country
Tourer, Zafira and Combo Life with panoramic roof – six signs of spring
from Rüsselsheim.
Pure safety: Intelligent all-wheel drive system for exemplary directional stability and outstanding traction
Pure reaction: Torque vectoring with perfect torque distribution to each rear wheel
Pure driving pleasure: Opel flagship with 4x4 technology on icy alpine pistes
Fun, but safe: Opel Insignia Country Tourer with innovative Twinster torque-vectoring all-wheel drive technology.
The ground is icy and exhaled breath is freezing. Snow as far as the
eye can see. Perfect conditions to get behind the steering wheel and
complete some really fast laps – in Austria’s deep-freeze. People who
want to have fun on snow and ice only need one thing: the Opel Insignia Country Tourer with Twinster all-wheel drive and torque vectoring.
It is the ideal match for the icy, snowy condition in Thomatal where
the Opel Winter Trainings take place. The programme not only includes
braking and accelerating, finding out the adhesion limits or safely
mastering extreme driving conditions, it is also a lot of fun. This is
made possible by Opel’s flagship model, the Insignia, with the top of
the range Insignia Country Tourer, leading the way for touring in
comfort.
With its additional ground clearance of 25 millimetres and protective
cladding, the Opel Insignia Country Tourer awakens the desire to leave
smooth asphalt roads and instead head for rougher surfaces. The secret
for unrestrained driving pleasure is hidden under the bodywork: The
Twinster all-wheel drive with torque vectoring. “The extremely good
cornering and directional stability, even in extreme surface conditions,
characterise the most modern Opel all-wheel drive system,” said Andreas Holl, Director Controls and All Wheel Drive Development at Opel.
High-tech 4x4 system for safe driving pleasure at all times
The innovative all-wheel drive is based on pure high-tech: On the
Twinster system with torque vectoring, twin clutches replace the
conventional differential on the rear axle. As a result, the system can
apply torque to one or both of the rear wheels individually in a split
second,” explained Holl. This means that the power is transmitted
optimally at all times. “Twinster enables an extremely high torque
distribution capacity ranging from 0 Nm on the one to side to 1,500 Nm
on the other. In addition, torque distribution can be set independently
from wheel slip and wheel speed. And then there is the compact
construction: As there are two clutches in front of the drive shafts,
the rear axle differential is omitted. That saves space and weight,” he
continued.
This technology also enables the Insignia Country Tourer to be more
agile and precise when cornering. It offers outstanding directional
control for maximum stability and shines with exemplary traction on all
surfaces – even ice and snow. In general, higher torque is sent to the
outside rear wheel, the vehicle is stabilized and the Insignia turns in
with more precision, responding more spontaneously to inputs from the
driver. Torque vectoring therefore means an increase of active safety.
Going for a quick one in the Opel Insignia Country Tourer: With the
help of Twinster torque-vectoring all-wheel drive technology.
The participants of Opel’s Winter Training can experience this
increase first hand. All they need to do is temporarily switch off the
torque vectoring, which is connected to the ESP system. “The
before-and-after comparison is dramatic. If you had everything under
control until then, without technical support your drive will be over at
the second pylon,” said Holl. This is a borderline experience that
nobody normally wants to have.
For comfort-conscious cruisers and experienced, sporty drivers
The mechatronic FlexRide chassis provides the foundations for
optimal, situation-based handling. It adapts shock absorbers,
calibration of the accelerator pedal and shift points (on cars with
automatic transmission) automatically or based on the Tour and Sport
modes that can be selected by the driver. Subject to the chosen mode,
steering and throttle-response is then softer or even more direct and
ESP intervenes earlier or later.
Those looking for a somewhat sportier ride with ESP and all-wheel
drive should therefore select “Sport” mode. In this mode, the system
permits strong movement around the vertical axis (low yaw damping) and
simultaneously supports the agile character of the Opel Insignia Country
Tourer. Those who prefer comfortable cruising should press the “Tour”
button”. The central ‘Drive Mode Control’ software is the heart and soul
of the adaptive chassis. It continuously analyses the information
provided by the sensors and setting and recognises the individual
driving style.
New taxi models: Opel flagships Insignia Sports Tourer and Country Tourer
Pays off: Generous space, top workmanship and economical consumption
Large ex-works taxi offer: New Opel Insignia models join Vivaro and Zafira
Good looking and practical: Up to 1,665 litres of luggage space and
up to two metres of load-length for bulky goods – the Opel Insignia
Sports Tourer as taxi.
“Taxi!” Those looking for a spacious and elegant means of transport
can now hop in the Opel Insignia Sports Tourer or, for an even more
individual ride, the Insignia Country Tourer. The flagship estates from
Rüsselsheim are now also available as taxi models in the characteristic
light ivory lacquer and as chauffeur service rental cars – with top
comfort for passengers and plenty of room for luggage. With these
qualities, the newcomers enrich Opel’s portfolio of very spacious taxis.
The Opel Insignia enables taxi companies to offer their customers a
lot of room and highest comfort. In the entry-level model Insignia
Sports Tourer Taxi Selection already available from €22,639 (RRP excl.
VAT in Germany), driver and front passenger enjoy the multi-stage
adjustable comfort seats. The standard air conditioning system ensures a
constantly pleasant temperature including footwell heating in the rear
passenger cabin. And with a luggage compartment volume of 560 to a
maximum of 1,665 litres as well as a load-space length of over two
metres, even large and bulky cargo can be easily stowed in the Insignia
Sports Tourer. The driver benefits from top connectivity with the
standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible Radio R 4.0
IntelliLink.
For a net entry-level price of €26,046 the Taxi Dynamic variant
already comes with Navi 900 IntelliLink including an 8-inch colour
touchscreen and integrated navigation on board. Both the driver and
front-seat passenger make themselves comfortable in the ergonomic seats
certified by the independent AGR (Campaign for Healthier Backs) experts –
the best basis for a relaxing ride. The AGR seat also makes the taxi
even more pleasant as a workplace for the driver. With its multi-stage
adjustments for the contours of the spine, the seat is a true back
champion.
Thanks to state-of-the-art production methods, lightweight
construction as well as powerful and fuel-efficient engines, the
flagship estate is very economical. For instance with the 100 kW/136 hp
1.6 litre Turbo diesel and six-speed automatic transmission it consumes
just 5.2 litres per 100 kilometres (NEDC fuel consumption with
Start/Stop: urban 6.1 l/100 km, extra-urban 4.6 l/100 km, combined 5.2
l/100 km, 137 g/km CO2).
At the same time, the Insignia Sports Tourer comes with all the
prerequisites to be able to quickly and easily transform it into a fully
equipped taxi: the basic taxi equipment is available for a net price of
€1,790. It includes a taxi alarm system, electrical connections for the
taximeter and roof sign, an on and off switch for the roof sign, power
supply for the radio as well as protective foil on the door and boot
sills. Various roof signs and mounts as well as taximeter installation
preparation kits can be ordered for the Insignia. And last but not
least, taxi companies can equip their Sports Tourer model right at
pick-up with the Hale SPT 02 taximeter that is perfectly integrated into
the rearview mirror housing.
With these special features, the Insignia Sports Tourer and Country
Tourer now expand the Opel taxi portfolio available ex-works. The major
advantage of the works solution is that the customer gets everything
from one source, there is a full works warranty on all modifications and
the fixtures are integrated in the car according to highest Opel
quality standards. In addition to both newest-generation flagship
estates, the extremely flexible Opel Zafira with space for up to six
passengers and the large Opel Vivaro van are also available to meet
practically all transport needs.

Strong showing: World premiere for sporty Insignia GSi
with Group PSA CEO Carlos Taveres and Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller.
The Rüsselsheim-based carmaker is bidding to take the booming
SUV segment by storm with the compact Opel Grandland X. Lohscheller
also announced that the newcomer will soon be available with a new
top-of-the range diesel and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Furthermore, the Grandland X will be the first Opel to be offered as a
plug-in hybrid.
“Our new Opel Grandland X as plug-in hybrid is the next big example of the
opportunities that await us as a member of the PSA group,” said
Lohscheller at the press conference. “We will follow this path closely.”
Elsewhere, the new top-of-the-line Opel Insignia models also took center stage. The dynamic GSi
continues Opel’s long tradition of sporty limousines with that certain
something while the all-wheel drive Country Tourer is the right choice
for adventurers.
“We are continuing the biggest model offensive in Opel’s history with
these three world premieres. We have made decisive additions to our
portfolio this year with the electric range champion, the Ampera-e, the
Opel Crossland X crossover, the Vivaro Life recreational vehicle and the Opel Grandland X SUV,” explained Lohscheller in Frankfurt. “We at Opel are
proud to be part of the PSA Groupe now. Together we will create a
European champion. We will do so by continuing to make technology ‘made
in Germany’ available to as many customers as possible, thus staying
true to our brand credo the future is everyone’s.”
Really strong: Sequential turbocharging for 154 kW/210 hp and high torque
Ideal combination: Always with eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive
Very efficient: Combined NEDC fuel consumption 6.9 liters, equivalent to 183 g/km CO2
Made in Germany: Engine from the Kaiserslautern plant for all Insignia variants
Dream team: The new top-of-the-line 2.0-liter diesel engine for the
Opel Insignia BiTurbo always comes with all-wheel drive and eight-speed
automatic transmission.
Production-start for the new top-of-the-line engine and the Opel Insignia
Country Tourer from Opel: With the summer slowly drawing to an end, the
first 2.0 liter BiTurbo diesel engines will roll off the production
line. They are tailored for the Country Tourer along with all other
variants of Opel’s flagship. With the Grand Sport, Sports Tourer and
Country Tourer the second generation Insignia can be ordered with the
new top-of-the-range diesel this year. The Country Tourer appeals to all
Insignia fans looking for stylish and practical station wagon with
off-road looks. The newcomer will celebrate its world premiere at the
Frankfurt International Motor Show (September 14-24).
The newly designed 2.0-liter diesel engine produces 154 kW/210 hp at
4,000 rpm and develops strong torque of 480 Nm from only 1,500 rpm
thanks to sequential two-stage turbocharging (Official fuel consumption
Grand Sport 2.0 BiTurbo in accordance with New European Driving Cycle:
urban 8.7 l/100 km, extra-urban 5.7 l/100 km, combined 6.9 l/100 km,
official specific combined CO2 emissions 183 g/km). The new
Insignia BiTurbo accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds with
a maximum speed of 233 km/h.
Such strength must be transferred to the road intelligently, which is
why the top-of-the-line engine always comes in combination with a
smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission and high-tech
all-wheel drive with torque vectoring.
In addition to the power output, the drivability (turbo power in every
situation) and the refinement of the new common rail engine are also
further improved compared with the existing extremely popular 2.0 liter
unit with single turbocharger (125 kW/170 PS; official fuel consumption
Grand Sport with front-wheel drive in accordance with NEDC urban 6.7
l/100 km, extra-urban 4.3 l/100 km, combined 5.2 l/100 km, official
specific combined CO2 emissions 136 g/km).
In addition to the legally required NEDC Data, Opel also determined values in accordance with the Worldwide Harmonized Light-Duty Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP)
which are officially required as of this autumn for the newly developed
four-cylinder BiTurbo. The WLTP values (Insignia Grand Sport 2.0
BiTurbo WLTP fuel consumption range 12.2-6.2[1] l/100 km, combined 8.0-7.5 l/100 km, 209-196 g/km CO2)
are much more realistic than the hitherto officially applicable NEDC
figures (Official fuel consumption Grand Sport 2.0 BiTurbo in accordance
with NEDC urban 8.7 l/100 km, extra-urban 5.7 l/100 km, combined 6.9
l/100 km, official specific combined CO2 emissions 183 g/km).
The WLTP figures also take different driving styles into consideration,
which enables customers to get a better estimate of their own fuel
consumption[2]. An overview of the more realistic consumption figures in accordance with the WLTP cycle can be found onopel.de.
Like the existing 125 kW/170 hp 2.0 liter engine with single
turbocharger, the new top-of-the-line diesel also features highly
effective Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR)
exhaust after-treatment technology with AdBlue injection, which removes
nitrogen oxide (NOx) from the engine’s exhaust gases. The watery urea
solution which contains ammonia (NH3) reacts with the nitrogen oxides in the SCR catalytic converter and creates harmless nitrogen and water vapor.
New top-of-the-line diesel with sequential two-stage turbocharging
Opel has pulled out all the stops for maximum fuel efficiency and
maximum fun-to-drive. The new diesel features two turbochargers
functioning sequentially. The intake air enters the first turbocharger
where it is compressed and passed to the second turbo. This is driven by
Variable Geometry Turbine vanes in the exhaust
gas, which increase torque at low engine speeds and raise power at
higher engine speeds. VGT then adjusts the vanes to parallel with the
gas flow, thus reducing back pressure and lowering fuel consumption. The
now highly compressed and very hot intake air then passes through an
intercooler on the way to the combustion chambers. Diesel fuel is then
injected through seven-hole jets in up to ten sequences at 2000 bar. The
boost-pressure is controlled, according to engine-speed and load, by
three bypass valves and an electrically actuated variable turbine
geometry.
Apart from increased efficiency, higher power output and torque,
refinement and noise attenuation were priorities in the design of the
new engine. The Opel engineers therefore gave the engine a cast-iron
crankshaft, balance shafts, a stiffened flywheel and a two-piece oil
sump, in order to reduce diesel-typical vibrations and acoustics to a
minimum. In order to further lower fuel consumption, the water pump is
only switched on when temperatures require it. Just like the well-known
2.0 liter diesel, the new BiTurbo diesel is built in Opel’s
Kaiserslautern plant.
Power of two turbos: BiTurbo diesels now with Opel Astra, Insignia
A 2.0 liter BiTurbo diesel with 143 kW/195 hp and maximum torque of
400 Nm already made its debut in the first-generation Insignia in 2012,
and was then offered in the Astra, Cascada, GTC and Zafira Tourer.
The
new 154 kW/210 hp and 480 Nm engine for theInsigniafits perfectly into the range of current Opel power units with two-stage turbocharging.
Opel Astra, the European Car of the Year 2016, is available as
hatchback and Sports Tourer with a 118 kW/160 hp 1.6 BiTurbo. The
four-cylinder engine develops maximum torque of 350 Nm at only 1,500 rpm
(Official fuel consumption Astra hatchback in accordance with NEDC,
urban 5.0 l/100 km, extra-urban 3.4 l/100 km, combined 4.0 l/100 km,
official specific combined CO2 emissions 106 g/km CO2). The fastest Astra diesel thus accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 220 km/h.

optional clever all-wheel drive with torque vectoring can already be

new top-of-the-line model already comes with a wide range of top
technologies and assistance systems on board. Standard equipment
includes the ultra-modern FlexRide premium chassis, Hill Start Assist,
Opel Eye front camera including Forward Collision Alert with Pedestrian
Detection and Automatic City Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning

two-zone automatic climate control, the Keyless Open & Start system
and multi-stage adjustable comfort seats. Insignia Country Tourer

CarPlay and Android Auto compatible Radio R 4.0 IntelliLink. The
personal connectivity and service assistant Opel OnStar including one
year of OnStar services[1] such as hotel room booking[2] and parking spot search[3] is also on board as standard.
Hitting the track: New Opel Insignia Country Tourer features a
tough off-road look and innovative technologies such as FlexRide
suspension and optional all-wheel drive with torque vectoring.
At the same time as the new Insignia Country Tourer, Opel Exclusive
– which is also available for the Insignia Grand Sport and Sports
Tourer – is being launched. The personalization concept allows Insignia
buyers to choose exactly the color they want. Initially, the regular
color portfolio will be expanded by 15 additional shades, and soon Opel
will offer an unlimited amount of options. Customers’ favorite lipstick,
their daughter’s eye color or a picture of the dark blue evening sky
can in future serve as the sample for their own individual paint tone.
The Black Pack gives the Exclusive model an extra sporty touch with
high-gloss black
Opel grille bar and window trim strips, exterior
mirrors and much more. And a complementary design from a range of light
alloy wheels can also be selected. The Exclusive line will also soon be
expanded with an even larger selection of leather interior options and
decorative design elements – resulting in unique automobiles
personalized according to their owner’s taste. In addition, every
Opel Insignia ordered as an Exclusive model comes with a host of standard
trim features on top: Navi 900 IntelliLink with an eight-inch color
touchscreen, Solar Protect heat-absorbing glazing as well as
groundbreaking IntelliLux LED Matrix light are all on board.
Thus equipped, for example the Insignia Country Tourer as an Exclusive
model is available from €35,885.
Tough shell, comfortable interior: Opel Insignia for “country fans”
The new Opel Insignia Country Tourer features the same qualities as
its siblings – sporty, elegant styling, the completely new, lightweight
architecture, state-of-the-art assistance systems and innovative technologies such as the highly praised IntelliLux LED Matrix light consisting of 32 LED segments unique in this vehicle class – and much more.
The prominent landscape grille and slim headlamps offer a wide
horizontal impression, whilst the silver colored skid plate helps to
pull the car down to underline the solid stance. Molded black protective
cladding in the lower fascia, the wheel arches and along the lower body
side emphasize the rugged appearance. Just like the front, the rear end
also delivers adventurous cues, such as a skid plate and dual exhaust
bezels that reinforce the more powerful and wider impression.
Matching the character of the rugged all-rounder, the new Insignia
Country Tourer is above all extremely practical. In order to make
loading as easy as possible, the tailgate optionally available for €455 can be opened without touching the car. In combination with “Keyless Open & Start” a simple kicking motion under the rear bumper
is enough to open the tailgate. Another kicking motion under the bumper
will close the tailgate. In order to increase loading space to 1,665
liters, the new Insignia Country Tourer comes with standard 40/20/40
foldable rear seats enabling even more flexible loading space
configurations. The rear seat bank can be folded down by simply pushing
the buttons located in the luggage compartment. And the standard roof railing
not only emphasizes the adventurous look but also increases the
application spectrum of the new Insignia Country Tourer allowing the
rugged station wagon to carry roof loads of up to 100 kilograms. In the
interior, the driver and especially rear passengers enjoy plenty of
space. Top comfort is ensured by the optional AGR (Campaign for
Healthier Backs) certified ergonomic seats with seat ventilation and
massage function (€690) for driver and front passenger.
For all terrains: Leading propulsion and chassis technologies
The new Opel Insignia Country Tourer packs a punch with powerful
turbo gasoline and turbo diesel engines. The top-of-the-line unit is the
two-liter Turbo gasoline direct injection engine with 191 kW/260 hp (NEDC fuel consumption: urban 11.5 l/100 km, extra-urban 7.3 l/100 km, combined 8.9 l/100 km, 203 g/km CO2),
new eight-speed automatic transmission and state-of-the-art Twinster
all-wheel drive. Initially the most powerful diesel is the 125 kW/170 hp
two-liter diesel, also optionally available with all-wheel drive
(NEDC fuel consumption: urban 8.4 l/100 km, extra-urban 5.4 l/100 km,
combined 6.5 l/100 km, 172 g/km CO2). An even more powerful top-of-the-line diesel will enhance the portfolio in the near future.
Twenty-five millimeters of additional ground clearance along with the innovative all-wheel drive with torque vectoring
and the new five-link rear suspension cater for the wish to leave
asphalt roads and give the Insignia Country Tourer the most polished
system in its class. Instead of a traditional rear differential, which
transmits equal amounts of torque to the rear wheels, the Opel Insignia
Country Tourer boasts two electrically controlled multi-plates clutches
which enable a more individual and precise transmission of power to each
wheel – irrespective of road or weather conditions. To counteract the
understeer tendency in tight corners taken at higher speeds, the system,
depending on the acceleration command and steering movement, sends more
torque to the outside rear wheel. This happens without any further
driver intervention and in a split second. This stabilizes the vehicle.
Furthermore, the Insignia turns in with more precision, responding more
spontaneously to inputs from the driver. This results in neutral vehicle
behavior, making the car more stable and steerable for the driver no
matter what the situation.
The further improvedFlexRide chassis
provides the basis for optimal, situation-based driving behavior. It
adapts the dampers, steering, throttle response and shift points (on
automatics) independently or based on the modes ‘Standard’, ‘Sport’ or
‘Tour’ which can be selected by the driver. The new central ‘Drive Mode
Control’ software is the heart and soul of the adaptive chassis. It
continuously analyzes the information provided by the sensors and
settings and recognizes the individual driving style.
Initially the engine portfolio will be rounded off by a front-wheel drive 125 kW/170 hp two liter diesel –
with six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic gearbox (NEDC fuel
consumption: urban 7.6-7.1 l/100 km, extra-urban 5.0-4.6 l/100 km,
combined 6.0-5.5 l/100 km, 157-145 g/km CO2) and the 121 kW/165 hp
1.5 Direct Injection Turbo
with six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission (NEDC fuel
consumption: urban 8.0-7.9 l/100 km, extra-urban 5.7-5.6 l/100 km,
combined 6.5-6.4 l/100 km, 149-147 g/km CO2).
Like no other: Insignia à la Opel Exclusive
Those who want to drive a truly unique Insignia Country Tourer,
Sports Tourer or Grand Sport will have a nearly unlimited range of
design options. The new magical formula is called Opel Exclusive –
including personalized exterior colors. So in future customers can
choose not only from the regular colors plus a special Exclusive color
collection – Opel will reproduce any individual paint tone desired. All
that is needed is a concrete example, be it a photograph or a tie, for
instance. The color code alone is also enough to create the desired
dream color.
In the next step, Opel makes a paint sample – after all, customers
should be able to clearly imagine and decide how the color looks on
their car and what effect the finish should have. From puristic unicolor
to classic metallic or deep pearly shine finish, everything is
possible; this all depends on the paint composition. And by coloring
normally transparent clear lacquer, red shades, for instance, are
enriched with a special depth of color.
In addition, in future Insignia customers can choose from special
light alloy wheel designs and select the exceptional Black Pack. With
it, the normally chrome body parts such as the grille bar, window trim
strips and much more, including exterior mirrors if desired, shine in
high-gloss black finish, emphasizing the car’s sporty character even
more.
Special service: as part of the Exclusive program, customers can
create their vehicle in ultra-high definition resolution in the digital 4K showroom.

For adventurers: Opel Insignia Country Tourer with rugged look and premium qualities.
The new top-of-the-range Opel models, the Insignia Grand Sport and
the Insignia Sports Tourer have only just celebrated their world
premieres in Geneva – but the dream duo is already set to become a
triumphant trio. Just as for the previous generation, the Insignia will
be available as an adventurer with all-wheel drive and offroad appeal.
Its name: The new Opel Insignia Country Tourer. Available to order from
June, it will celebrate its premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA,
September 14 to 24) and will be at dealers shortly afterwards. The
all-rounder is the ideal choice for fans of winter sports and the
countryside but also for everybody who appreciates a very individual
impression.
All-terrain Insignia: All-wheel drive with torque vectoring and 20 millimeter more ground clearance.
The new Opel Insignia Country Tourer impresses with the same virtues
as its Grand Sport and Sports Tourer siblings – it is spacious and
considerably lighter than the outgoing version thanks an all-new
architecture. It also comes with a wide range of innovative
technologies, just as a true flagship should. Furthermore, it captivates
with its very own country-style charm: all-round black protective
cladding and silver front and rear skid plates give the newcomer a
rugged offroad appearance. Customers who prefer an even more individual
vehicle can also tailor it thanks to the Opel Exclusive concept, which
provides an unlimited choice of colors.
Adventure-ready: Leading propulsion and chassis technologies
A broad powertrain portfolio – including a brand new top-of-the-range
diesel engine – delivers the performance of the Opel Insignia Country
Tourer. In addition, the newcomer will also be available with the new
eight-speed automatic transmission and ground-breaking all-wheel drive
technology. Twenty millimeters of additional ground clearance along with
the innovative all-wheel drive with torque vectoring
and the new five-link rear suspension cater for the wish to leave
asphalt roads and give the Insignia Country Tourer the most polished
system in its class. Instead of a traditional rear differential, which
transmits equal amounts of torque to the rear wheels, the Opel Insignia
Country Tourer boasts two electrically controlled multi-plates clutches

understeer tendency in tight corners taken at higher speeds, the system,
depending on the acceleration command and steering movement, sends more
torque to the outside rear wheel.
The further improved FlexRide chassis
provides the basis for optimal, situation-based driving behavior. It
adapts the dampers, steering, throttle response and shift points (on
automatics) independently or based on the modes ‘Standard’, ‘Sport’ or
‘Tour’ which can be selected by the driver. The new central ‘Drive Mode
Control’ software is the heart and soul of the adaptive chassis. It
continuously analyzes the information provided by the sensors and
settings and recognizes the individual driving style.
“The Country Tourer is the perfect choice for all those who want to
combine ultra-modern connectivity and assistance systems along with the
roominess of the new Insignia with individual styling and offroad
qualities. The adventurous-looking station wagon is the ideal car for
all athletes among Insignia fans who simultaneously love a more rugged
look,” said Peter Christian Küspert, Opel Vice President Sales &
Aftersales.
Robust exterior, spacious interior: Opel Insignia for country fans
The new Insignia Sports Tourer is already in very good shape: It
takes the Opel design philosophy to the next level with its sporty yet
elegant styling and its breathtaking lines. The all-new lightweight
architecture is one of the main reasons behind its feisty and agile
performance. The Country Tourer has all of these qualities and more. Its
more rugged and individual charm makes it the top-of-the-line variant
of the Insignia model range and from the very start of the development
process the designers and the engineers worked on a third distinct
Insignia variant.
The fascia of the new Opel Insignia Country Tourer looks even more
purposeful than that of its Sports Tourer sibling. The prominent
landscape grille and slim headlamps offer a wide horizontal impression,
whilst the silver colored skid plate helps to pull the car down to
underline the solid stance. Molded black protective cladding in the
lower fascia, the wheel arches and along the lower body side emphasize
the rugged appearance. Just like the front, the rear end also delivers
adventurous cues, such as a silver colored skid plate and dual exhaust
bezels that reinforce the lower and wider impression.
“We wanted our new Opel Insignia Country Tourer to be robust in every
respect while simultaneously displaying the typical elegant Opel
philosophy of sculptural artistry and German precision,” said Mark
Adams, Vice President Design. “It has the presence of a true flagship,
combining a sophisticated athletic shape enhanced by rugged off road
detailing.”
Those looking for a truly unique Insignia will soon have an unlimited
amount of options at their disposal with Opel looking to launch the Opel Exclusive
concept also with the Insignia Country Tourer. Apart from the regular
colors buyers can choose from 15 additional colors only available to
Exclusive customers. However, that is by no means all.
The Opel
Exclusive experts can even reproduce any paint tone desired if provided
with a sample or an image. Furthermore, Exclusive customers can
personalize their vehicles even further thanks to additional wheel
designs and leather interior options.
Matching the character of the rugged all-rounder, the new Opel Insignia
Country Tourer is above all extremely practical. In order to make
loading as easy as possible, the tailgate can be opened without touching
the car. In combination with “Keyless Open & Start” a simple
kicking motion under the rear bumper is enough to open the tailgate (a
vehicle silhouette projected onto the ground shows the correct area).
Another kicking motion under the bumper will close the tailgate. In
order to increase loading space to 1,665 liters, 130 liters more than on
the outgoing version, the new Insignia Country Tourer comes with
optional 40/20/40 foldable rear seats enabling even more flexible
loading space configurations. The rear seat bank can be folded down by
simply pushing a button located in the luggage compartment. And the
standard roof railing not only emphasizes the adventurous look but also
increases the application spectrum of the new Insignia Country Tourer
allowing the rugged station wagon to carry roof loads of up to 100
kilograms.
Elsewhere, the wheelbase has been elongated by 92 mm, enabling a much
more spacious interior that especially benefits the rear passengers.
The wellness atmosphere is further underlined by the driver-oriented
cockpit, the AGR-certified (Aktion Gesunder Rücken e.V.) premium ergonomic front seats and the heated outer rear seats. The heated windshield and the heated steering wheel ensure good visibility and warm hands respectively on cold days.
Outstanding technology on board: Safe, comfortable, superb connectivity
Just like its Opel Grand Sport and Sports Tourer siblings, the Opel Insignia Country Tourer comes with numerous ultra-modern technologies and assistance systems
that enable a new level of safety and comfort. One of the highlights in
every sense of the word is the second generation of Opel’s innovative
and award-winning adaptive IntelliLux LEDMatrix light. The Opel LEDMatrix lightnow
has 16 LED segments integrated into each of the very slim headlamps and
comes with an innovative active curve lighting function and dedicated
LED spotlight with a range of up to 400 meters. Further additions
include the head up display, the 360° surround view camera, adaptive
cruise control (ACC) with automatic emergency braking, Lane Keep Assist
with automated steering correction and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
The latest Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible IntelliLink
systems ensure outstanding entertainment and connectivity. And the
smartphone can even be charged without a cable while it is seamlessly
integrated within the infotainment system. The groundbreaking personal
connectivity and service assistant Opel OnStar is also on board. It
comes with an extensive service portfolio ranging from automatic crash
response to stolen vehicle assistance. Two newcomers to the OnStar
portfolio are the booking service1, and parking search2. Both services rely OnStar advisors who can book hotel rooms and/or search for suitable carparks.
