Portfolio ranges from small Opel Rocks Electric to bestselling Corsa Electric and Mokka Electric to people carriers such as new Combo Electric and Zafira Electric. This means that Opel has everything from quadricycles to spacious passenger cars in its range – and what's more, the new Opel Astra Sports Tourer Electric is one of the first battery-electric estates on market.

In addition, business owners can also find right model for almost every purpose at Opel. New generation of Opel commercial vehicles is currently being launched with Opel Combo Cargo Electric, Vivaro Electric and Movano Electric leading the way in terms of sustainable transportation solutions. They all have a class-leading range of state-of-art assistance systems and make no compromises in terms of loading volume and capacity in everyday working life.

And the brand with the Blitz will continue down the path of consistent electrification this year – the 125th anniversary of automobile production at Opel. Opel will offer at least one purely electric model in every carline by the end of the year. Two bestsellers, four versions: Opel Corsa Electric and Opel Mokka Electric

It's not for nothing that Opel Corsa has been Germany's most popular small car in recent years. It impresses with its characteristic design including Opel Vizor brand face, space for up to five people and technologies that make every journey more relaxing. In addition, it offers locally emissions-free driving pleasure in two versions: customers can choose from two battery-electric performance levels. With new 115 kW/156 hp drive and 51 kWh battery, up to 405 kilometres (according to WLTP 2) can be covered between charging stops. With the 100 kW/136 hp and 50 kWh battery variants, up to 357 kilometres (WLTP 2) are possible. And even when Corsa Electric needs recharging, only a short pitstop is necessary. At a 100 kW direct current fast charging station 80 percent of battery capacity can be recharged in around 30 minutes. And ordering the small car bestseller is now particularly worthwhile – Corsa Electric is currently available as a special edition “Yes” in dynamic GS look at a highly attractive price of just €29,990 (RRP including VAT in Germany).

With its bold and pure design, Opel Mokka Electric is an extraordinary eye-catcher. In addition to the proven electric drive with 100 kW/136 hp and 260 Newton meters of torque, it has also recently been introduced with 115 kW/156 hp and a new 54 kWh battery. This means that instead of up to 338 kilometres, Opel Mokka Electric drivers can now travel up to 407 kilometres in accordance with WLTP 2 with zero local emissions – an improvement of 20 percent! As with all fully electric Opel models, the battery is installed in the underbody. In this way, no space is lost in passenger or luggage compartment and Mokka Electric is firmly planted to road – for pure driving pleasure with responsibility!

Electric pioneers: Opel Astra Electric and new Opel Astra Sports Tourer Electric

Llatest generation of compact class bestseller Opel Astra also ensures this. While many other electric cars are limited to 150 km/h or 160 km/h, the Astra Electric and Astra Sports Tourer Electric can reach a top speed of 170 km/h – and it's pleasantly quiet and light-footed. Thanks to their compact packaging, both the five-door and the estate are real lightweights in their segment. This also helps ensure that passengers in the Astra Electric and Astra Sports Tourer Electric can travel up to 418 kilometres and 413 kilometres (according to WLTP 2) respectively without stopping – and all this while enjoying the highest level of comfort, optionally with AGR-certified ergonomic active sports seats, and an intuitively operated Pure Panel cockpit including the latest infotainment technology and latest generation of glare-free IntelliLux LED Pixel Light.

As one of first fully electric estates on market, Opel Astra Sports Tourer Electric is a pioneer in its segment. Fact that it is a true all-rounder that combines sporty styling with locally emissions-free driving is also demonstrated by its loading qualities: luggage compartment of Opel Astra Sports Tourer Electric, which is suitable for everyday use, work and travel, offers 516 litres of loading volume. When the seats are folded down, the capacity increases to up to 1,553 litres. Not only can it safely carry numerous suitcases and work utensils, but it can also take more voluminous items such as transport boxes. But no matter what the load, packing Opel Astra Sports Tourer Electric is pleasantly easy thanks to the 60-centimetre low loading sill.

For families, leisure and VIP service: New Opel Combo Electric and Opel Zafira Electric

New Opel Combo Electric 3 and Opel Zafira Electric 2 are also perfect for leisure, vacation or as shuttle vehicles. All of this with the outstanding comfort and maximum safety: Two newcomers have up to 18 assistance systems that make every journey more relaxing. These include features such as the high-resolution 180-degree rear-view camera and new features such as Full LED headlights and even class-leading IntelliLux LED Matrix Light available for Combo.

New Opel Combo Electric, which will be available to order shortly, is the ideal family vehicle. Customers can choose from two vehicle lengths: 4.41-metre version offers space for up to 5 people, while the 4.76-metre version (Combo XL) can optionally accommodate up to seven passengers in three rows. If desired, the Combo Electric offers additional flexibility with three individual seats in the second row. Depending on the seating configuration, the newcomer offers between 775 (Combo) and 4,000 litres (Combo XL; up to the roof) of load volume. The unique access option to the cargo area via the separately opening window in the tailgate and the horizontally foldable passenger seat backrest are particularly practical when loading the vehicle. Soon, occupants will be able to travel up to 343 kilometres (according to WLTP 2) on a single charge – around 60 kilometres more than the outgoing model. This is made possible by the further development of the fully electric drive train and the highly efficient heat pump, which helps to conserve battery range in low temperatures.

New Zafira Electric is available with either a 50 kWh or 75 kWh battery. With further developed 75 kWh battery, a range of up to 350 kilometres (WLTP 2) is possible between charging stops. Large people carrier is available in two lengths (4.98 metres and 5.33 metres) and offers space for up to eight people. If desired, it can be particularly comfortable in the rear with four independent, vis-a-vis seats. Sensor-controlled, electric sliding doors on both sides of the vehicle make it easier to get in and out of rows two and three. New Opel Zafira also offers load volume ranging between 1,500 litres and 4,900 litres. Further practicality is provided by new Opel Zafira Electric’s height – at just 1.90 metres it is fully suitable for underground car parks.

Young, innovative, individual: Opel Rocks Electric

Opel Rocks Electric is the smallest battery-electric vehicle in Opel’s portfolio. Agile, locally emissions-free and, above all, accessible for young people over the age of 15 1,  Opel Rocks Electric is the ideal vehicle for affordable individual mobility. Smart entry-level electric quadricycle with space for two and a panoramic glass roof as standard offers a range of up to 75 kilometres which can be covered at up to 45 km/h. And with a turning circle of just 7.20 meters, the 2.41-metre short and just 1.39-metre wide (without exterior mirrors) Opel Rocks Electric can be easily handle tight corners or fit into small parking spaces. And electric quadricycle is an unconventional eye-catcher – also because two doors are designed identically. Passenger door swings forward as usual, while driver's door swings backwards in the opposite direction.

Ready for business: New Opel Combo Electric, Vivaro Electric and Movano Electric

Elsewhere, Opel’s electric light commercial vehicle (LCV) line-up is equally impressive – as shown by by the recently launched new Opel Combo Electric, Vivaro Electric and Movano Electric. All newcomers that can already be ordered have one thing in common: They bring a breath of fresh air to LCV segment with new styling – they have characteristic Opel Vizor brand face for first time. Highlights of further developed, modern-looking cockpits include new Apple CarPlay and Android Auto-compatible infotainment systems, which can be used to wirelessly connect and charge the corresponding smartphones. Colour touchscreens up to 10 inches in size guarantee the best overview without distraction and easy operation. A wide range of state-of-art electronic helpers also ensure maximum safety. New Opel Movano Electric has up to 22 assistance systems on board, which enable level 2 automated driving for first time in long history of series.

All this is combined with usual light commercial vehicle qualities. Opel Combo Electric, Vivaro Electric and Movano Electric continue to offer the full operational capability of their counterparts with conventional drives. Thanks to state-of-art battery technologies and improvements such as increased drive efficiency, all three models have class-leading locally emissions-free battery-electric ranges: new OpelCombo Electric can travel up to 346 kilometres between charging stops, Opel Vivaro Electric up to 350 kilometres and Opel Movano Electric with 200 kW/272 hp, 410 Newton meters of torque and 110 kWh battery even up to 420 kilometres according to WLTP 2.

In addition, three LCV models score with exemplary loading volumes as well as loading and towing capacities. As a panel van, new Opel Combo Electric offers up to 4.4 m3 of loading volume. Class-leading payloads of up to 780 kilogrammes and a trailer load of up to 750 kilogrammes are class-leading. Depending on the version, new Opel Vivaro Electric can load up to 6.6 m3 and shoulder more than 1.2 tons. And the largest of the commercial vehicle trio, Opel Movano Electric, boasts a cargo volume of 17 m3 which is enough for five Euro pallets.

Opel customers can already choose from a wide range of battery-electric, locally emissions-free models for leisure, family and work. At same time, German brand is consistently pushing forward the transition to electromobility in its anniversary year. New Opel Frontera and next generation Opel Grandland with fully electric variants will soon add to Opel’s extensive electric portfolio.

All-New Opel Astra Hybrid & GS Line

All-new Opel Astra celebrated its world premiere in Rüsselsheim just a few weeks ago, and the latest generation of the compact class bestseller is already available to order. With its bold and pure design as well as innovative top technologies, the all-new Astra is opening a new era. However, the price of the entry-level five-door model – €22,465 (all prices RRP incl. VAT in Germany) – is the same as that of its predecessor. Numerous state-of-the-art assistance systems such as front collision warning with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, speed sign recognition or drowsiness detection are standard equipment in every version. Lively performance at the entry level is provided by the 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo, direct injection petrol engine (81 kW/110 hp) with six-speed manual gearbox (combined fuel consumption according to WLTP 1: 5.5-5.4 l/100 km, 126-123 g/km CO2).

All-New Opel Astra GS Line

Those who prefer to drive electrically in the new Astra will also find the right offer right from the market launch. For the first time, the Astra is now also available in an electric version. Customers will be able to drive the Astra Hybrid from an attractive €35,800. After deducting the Environmental Bonus, the purchase price of the new Opel Astra Hybrid is only €28,622.50. A lot of power with maximum efficiency is guaranteed: Hybrid provides a system output of 133 kW/180 hp and a powerful 360 Newton metres of maximum torque (WLTP 1 combined fuel consumption: 1.1-1.0 l/100 km, CO2 emissions 26-22 g/km). In pure electric mode, the new Astra Hybrid can cover up to 60 km (WLTP 2) emissions-free. The top of the range will then be the top-of-the-line hybrid with an impressive 165 kW/225 hp system output (WLTP 1 combined fuel consumption: 1.4-1.1 l/100 km, CO2 emissions 31-24 g/km; preliminary values). From the beginning of 2023, the battery-electric Opel Astra-e will complete the drive portfolio.

New Opel Insignia celebrates its world premiere at the Brussels Motor Show (January 9-19). For the first time, in addition to the Grand Sport limousine and the Sports Tourer estate, the new sharp design of the sporty GSi can be seen at the Brussels show: the vertical front openings in sabre-tooth look and the dynamic front apron are unmistakable. GSi sprints into the New Year with a new 169 kW (230 hp) 2.0 liter turbo petrol engine and new nine-speed automatic transmission, as well as an electro-hydraulic brake booster, FlexRide mechatronic suspension and Twinster four-wheel drive with torque vectoring (fuel consumption limousine according to NEDC 1: urban 8.9 l/100 km, extra-urban 5.8 l/100 km, combined 6.9 l/100 km, 161 g/km CO2, fuel consumption according to WLTP 2: combined 8.5-8.3 l/100 km, 198-193 g / km CO2).

Flagship of the tradition-rich German brand debuts as GSi, Grand Sport and Sports Tourer with newly developed, extra-efficient petrol and diesel engines. In addition, new low-friction gearboxes further reduce fuel consumption and at the same time increase comfort. Insignia customers get either a six-speed manual gearbox, a particularly economical, stepless transmission or an eight or nine-speed automatic. New Opel Insignia’s aerodynamics are further improved by an active full-face shutter. Compared to its predecessor, NEDC fuel consumption is lowered by up to 18 percent, while CO2 emissions are as low as around 100g/km. New Opel Insignia is therefore one of the most fuel-efficient cars in its segment.

Opel designers have further improved the Insignia’s high-quality interior. Ergonomically certified AGR seats with many comfort functions are now available in various fabric and leather upholsteries, as well as in Alcantara. For those who value comfort and a classic appearance, the Elegance and Ultimate equipment ranges are the perfect choice. Enthusiastic drivers will be thrilled by the new Insignia GS Line and GSi.

In addition, there are state-of-the-art safety and assistance systems, most notably the new adaptive IntelliLux LED Pixel Light. It now has a total of 168 LED elements – 84 per headlamp! High grip and agility for maximum fun-to-drive

New Opel Insignia GSi is for those who appreciate the really special. The sporty four-wheel drive with torque vectoring is unique in this segment. In the AWD mode, two clutches replace a conventional rear differential and deliver the perfect power transfer per wheel in every driving situation. With this technology, the new Opel Insignia GSi is more agile in curves, offers the best cornering and stands out with excellent traction. For an even more active driving experience, the new nine-speed automatic transmission can be operated by the paddles on the steering wheel.

Opel Insignia GSi got its finishing touches on the legendary Nürburgring “Nordschleife”. The dynamically tuned chassis offers extremely high grip. Powerful Brembo four-piston brakes (with red calipers) and the direct steering have been further improved.

With its electro-hydraulic brake booster, the Insignia is already today a platform for technology that will be required for automated driving in the future. Integrated “eBoost” system is a component for “braking by wire”, which dispenses with the need for separate ABS/ESP modules, vacuum lines and vacuum pumps etc. As vacuum is generated by an electric motor instead of the engine, fuel consumption is further reduced. Pressure is built up quicker and brake feel is improved. Also, when ABS is activated, “eBoost” operates more quietly than on conventional braking systems.

Opel Insignia GSi comes as standard with mechatronic FlexRide suspension, which adapts shock absorbers and steering in fractions of a second. In addition, FlexRide changes the characteristic of the accelerator as well as the shift-points of the nine-speed automatic transmission. Driver can choose between the driving modes Standard, Tour, Sport and – exclusively for the GSi – Competition.

New engines and transmissions: Frugal yet lively

With the new Insignia, Opel has reduced the complexity and at the same time improved the offer for the customer. While the predecessor had petrol and diesel engines from three different engine families, all three and four-cylinder engines of the now belong to a single new generation. The 1.4-liter petrol engine with 107 kW (145 hp) and the 1.5 liter diesel with 90 kW (122 hp) form the basis (see table for all consumption figures).

Three-cylinder units are up to 50 kilograms lighter than their predecessors in the previous model and are also used in the new Opel Astra. Above them in the Insignia range come a 2.0 liter four-cylinder diesel (introduction later this year) and a 2.0 petrol engine with 147 kW (200 hp) – 169 kW (230 hp) in the case of the GSi. 2.0 liter petrol units are also the first Opel engines with cylinder deactivation. Unless the driver needs high power, variable camshaft control deactivates two cylinders and thus significantly reduces fuel consumption.

New Opel Insignia’s full-face active shutter further improves fuel efficiency by closing the top as well as the bottom of the grille. By combining thermal, electrical and aerodynamic considerations, intelligent control strategies for opening and closing the upper and lower portions of the grille can enable highly efficient driving under a variety of real-life conditions. The full-face shutter also delivers thermal advantages by delaying cooling down after switching off the engine, or by accelerating the engine warm-up after a cold start, which especially in winter provides significant benefits in fuel consumption and cabin heating comfort.

IntelliLux LED Pixel Light: precision with 168 LEDs

New Opel Insignia is equipped exclusively with full LED light systems, from highly energy-efficient LED headlamps to the new adaptive IntelliLux LED Pixel Light, which features a class-leading total of 168 LED elements, instead of the previous 32. The main beam is adjusted seamlessly in milliseconds by two control units – one connected to the front camera and the other in the headlamp. The high number of continuously reacting LED elements results in a seamless adaptation of the light beam. Illuminated area is larger than before, approaching or preceding traffic is “cut out” more precisely. Result is optimum vision in every situation, without glare for other road users.

New Opel Insignia GSi - IntelliLux LED Pixel Light

Opel has further improved the autobahn light of the newest IntelliLux LED. In left turns, the light beam reaches further to the left, so that the driver can more easily see roadside signs. When turning right in autobahn mode, the light beam shines further to the right, in order to avoid glare for oncoming traffic. The other light functions range from curve and bad weather, to town, country roads and autobahn, as well as optimised light for parking.

State-of-the-art connectivity and assistance systems

Typically for a flagship, Opel Insignia features a full range of assistance and infotainment systems. A new digital rear view camera improves rearward vision. Safety when reversing out of parking spaces can be further increased by the optional rear cross traffic alert. Additional assistance systems include forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian protection, lane keep assist, side blind zone alert, adaptive cruise control with emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, advanced park assist and head-up display. Adaptive cruise control maintains the gap to the vehicle ahead through automatic braking and acceleration. With automatic transmission. the radar-based system can brake the Insignia to a standstill and follow the vehicle ahead in traffic jams.

Portfolio of infotainment systems compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto extend from Multimedia Radio and Multimedia Navi to Multimedia Navi Pro. The top-of-the-line unit features numerous Connected Navigation services such as “Trip & Drive Management” and “Live navigation”, which provides online traffic information in real time. allowing delays to be detected quickly and avoided. Compatible smartphones can be charged wirelessly.  When e-Call is installed, an emergency call is automatically sent if the seatbelt tensioners or airbags are deployed. Alternatively, help can be actively summoned in seconds by simply pressing the red button.

Thanks to the refreshed design, the top-of-the-line-model has an even more powerful on-the-road presence. Extremely slim headlamps with pioneering LED technology make a major contribution. New adaptive IntelliLux LED Pixel Light now features 84 LED elements per headlamp. Headlamps react faster, with more precision than ever before, providing optimum vision for Insignia drivers without glare for oncoming or preceding traffic. With the new-generation IntelliLux LED Pixel Light, Opel flagship is unique in its market segment.

New Opel Insignia Grand Sport 

New edition of the Opel Insignia is packed with advanced technologies. Grand Sport limousine and Sports Tourer estate offer for the first time a digital rear view camera. List of options includes e-Call and wireless charging for compatible smartphones in the centre console.

New Opel Insignia will be even more efficient than before, thanks to lightweight engineering and all-new, highly efficient petrol and diesel engines. On its introduction in 2009, the first generation was elected “European Car Of The Year”. During the last ten years, almost 1.2 million units of both Insignia generations have rolled off the assembly line in Opel’s hometown of Rüsselsheim.

Precise next-generation IntelliLux LED Pixel Light: 168 LED elements

New Opel Insignia will be equipped exclusively with Full LED light systems. From highly energy-efficient LED headlamps to the new adaptive IntelliLux LED Pixel Light, which features an industry-leading total of 168 LED elements, instead of the previous 32.

New Opel Insignia: IntelliLux LED Pixel Light

“With IntelliLux LED Pixel Light, we take another big step forward”, explained Christian Müller, Managing Director Engineering. “Driving at night is therefore more relaxed and safer. New headlamps react faster, imperceptibly and with higher precision to the prevailing driving conditions. Intelligent system continuously adapts the light beam, road ahead is always ideally lit. Result is optimum vision in every situation, without glare for other road users.”

New Opel Insignia: Glare-Free High Beam

Main beam is adjusted seamlessly in milliseconds by two control units – one connected to the front camera and the other in the headlamp. High number of continuously reacting LED elements results in a seamless adaptation of the light beam. Illuminated area is larger than before, approaching or preceding traffic is “cut out” more precisely.

New Opel Insignia: Country Light

Range and direction of the light vary according to the driving situation and surroundings. The light functions range from curve and bad weather, to town, country roads and autobahn, as well as optimised light for parking. In particular, Opel has further improved the autobahn light of the newest IntelliLux LED. In left turns, the light beam reaches further to the left, so that the driver can more easily see roadside signs. When turning right in autobahn mode, the light beam shines further to the right, in order to avoid glare for oncoming traffic.

Power of the new IntelliLux LED Pixel Light system has been significantly increased. 84 LED elements are arranged in three rows in each ultra-slim headlamp, along with the curve light and dip beam module, as well as the characteristic LED daylight running lamp underneath.

Bold, pure, elegant: attractive new front and rear design

“New Insignia continues to build upon our Bold and Pure design execution”, said Opel’s Design Vice President, Mark Adams. “New front end emphasizes Insignia’s elegant and sporty character by proportionally making everything feel lower, wider and executed with clear German attention to detail.”

New chrome-edged radiator grille is wider and features prominent slats; the Opel logo in the middle of the chrome bar seems larger. Chrome bar itself stretches right and left to the LED daylight running lamps, which are now located at the bottom instead of the top of each headlamp. Opel Insignia appears lower and wider, also thanks to the air inlets with integrated fog lamps.

Rear of the Opel Insignia Grand Sport and Sports Tourer is also defined by clear lines. As already on the estate, the valence panel of the Grand Sport limousine will also feature two slots instead of round holes for the exhaust pipes.

Slim, horizontal lines of the design continue in the interior. Precisely placed chrome accents underline the stylish ambience.

Full range: new rear view camera, rear cross traffic alert and more

Typically for a flagship, the Opel Insignia will feature a full range of assistance and infotainment systems. A new digital rear view camera improves rearward vision. Safety when reversing out of parking spaces can be further increased by the optional rear cross traffic alert. System uses radar sensors to detect objects 90 degrees to the left and right behind the Insignia, at distances of up to 20 metres. Driver is warned via the display and acoustic signals. 

Additional assistance systems include:

• Forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection
• Lane keep assist
• Side blind spot alert
• Adaptive cruise control with emergency braking
• Traffic sign recognition
• Advanced park assist
• Head-up display, keeping the driver’s eyes on the road.

Portfolio of infotainment systems compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will extend from Multimedia Radio and Multimedia Navi to Multimedia Navi Pro. Top-of-the-line unit features numerous Connected Navigation services. With real-time traffic information, online map updates and predictive navigation, journeys are more relaxing. New symbols give the navigation display a fresher, more modern appearance. Same goes for the instruments. When e-Call is installed, an emergency call is automatically sent if the seatbelt tensioners or airbags are deployed. Alternatively, help can be actively summoned in seconds by simply pressing the red button.

New Opel Insignia will offer high comfort. Ergonomically certified AGR seats are optionally available for driver and front passenger. Compatible smartphones can be charged wirelessly. Tailgate of the Sports Tourer can be opened and closed automatically by a movement of the foot under the sensors in the rear bumper.
