  • For ‘electric newcomers’: Opel Grandland, Frontera and Mokka Hybrid with 48-volt system
  • Freedom of choice: Top-of-the-line SUV Opel Grandland, family-friendly Frontera and sharp Mokka form youngest SUV trio on market

With all-new Opel Grandland and Frontera as well as new Mokka, Opel offers youngest SUV trio on market and right model for every taste. From the compact, further sharpened Mokka to the family-friendly Frontera and the new top-of-the-line Grandland, each SUV is already available to order – with powerful and efficient, electrifying drives. Each of the three newcomers is available both all-electric and thus locally emissions-free and with efficient, fuel-saving 48-volt hybrid drives. In addition, the Grandland even comes as a dynamic plug-in hybrid. All customers need to do is decide which model and which drive is best suited to their needs.

Travelling locally emissions-free: All-New Opel Grandland, Frontera and Mokka Electric

All-new Opel Grandland not only shines with innovations such as the new 3D Vizor with illuminated Opel Blitz logo and illuminated OPEL wordmark at the rear as well as glare-free Intelli-Lux HD light or the practical Pixel Box for inductive smartphone charging. The ‘Golden Steering Wheel 2024’ winner4 is also the first Opel based on the BEV-native STLA Medium platform. Grandland Electric customers already have the choice of two 157 kW (213 hp) electric variants, which propel the Grandland from 0 to 100 km/h in 9 seconds and offer ranges suitable for everyday use and travelling.

With the 73 kWh battery (usable capacity), all-electric SUV can cover up to 523 kilometres (WLTP 1) between charging stops. In the Grandland Electric GS with an 82 kWh battery, the range increases to up to 582 kilometres (WLTP 1). And soon, the 97 kWh battery will even be able to cover up to around 700 kilometres (WLTP 1) with zero local emissions. If the Grandland needs to be recharged, it takes less than 30 minutes to charge to 80 per cent of the battery capacity with a charging capacity of up to 160 kW at a public fast charging station.

If customers want to drive a stylish and individual, yet more compact SUV in the city and beyond, they can order the new Opel Mokka Electric with a 115 kW (156 hp) electric motor. Thanks to efficient packaging, the engineers were able to ensure an exemplary range with a compact size of the 54 kWh battery. This means that up to 403 kilometres (WLTP 1) can be covered locally emissions-free. The space-saving underfloor location of the battery enables a low centre of gravity and ensures that the new Mokka Electric stands confidently on the road. And with 260 Newton meters of torque available immediately, the battery electric car provides quick acceleration from a standing start and plenty of driving pleasure.

At the same time, the new Opel Mokka Electric comes with state-of-the-art infotainment. The further developed bestseller already offers a 10-inch digital driver information display and an equally large colour touchscreen as standard. If the new Mokka has integrated navigation, map updates are loaded into the system over the air. As in the Grandland, the system can now learn and independently suggest destinations and route guidance based on the habits of the linked driver profile thanks to ChatGPT5 (available with Connected Navigation).

New Opel Frontera not only stands out as an exceptional and flexible SUV with its robust design and numerous practical solutions in the interior. The family-friendly newcomer also makes everyday driving and holiday trips a pleasure thanks to its drivetrains. In line with Opel's ‘Greenovation’ approach, every Frontera is electrified. Customers who want to travel locally emissions-free can already order the battery-electric Frontera Electric with 83 kW (113 hp) and 44 kWh (usable) battery and drive up to 305 kilometres (according to WLTP 1) without charging stop. As a ‘long-range’ version, the new Frontera Electric will soon be able to travel up to around 400 kilometres (preliminary range according to WLTP1) between charges.

Electric All In: Enjoying relaxing road trips with new all-electric Opel SUVs

But the new Grandland Electric, Mokka Electric and Frontera Electric are not only easy to drive and charge. Opel is making electric mobility simple and affordable for customers – starting with the vehicle purchase. Customers who buy a battery-electric Opel passenger car will now receive numerous services on top. ‘Electric All In’2 is the name of the formula that makes the switch to electromobility child’s play and everyday motoring more pleasant. The offer includes services such as an eProWallbox Move for quick charging at home, Opel Connect PLUS pack 6 and eight years of mobile charging assistance and roadside assistance7 as well as battery guarantee.

Best of two worlds: All-New Opel Grandland, Frontera and Mokka as 48-volt hybrids

Customers who prefer driving electrified and saving fuel without having to change driving and operating habits or having to connect the car to a charging point, can choose the hybrid variants with 48-volt system. The clever, cost efficient and compact 48-volt hybrid technology of the Grandland Hybrid, Frontera Hybrid and Mokka Hybrid offers many advantages in everyday use. The drivetrain includes a lithium-ion battery that charges automatically under certain driving conditions, as well as a 100 kW (136 hp) turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol engine (Frontera Hybrid additionally with 74 kW (100 hp) available). The three-cylinder engine was developed specifically for hybrid use and comes in combination with an electrified six-speed dual-clutch transmission and a 21 kW (28 hp) electric motor.

Technology is especially effective in city traffic. The electric drive supports the petrol engine when accelerating and starting from a standstill. The electric motor contributes torque, especially at low engine speeds, which benefits driving dynamics and CO2 savings. At low speeds, the electric motor also enables all-electric travel for up to one kilometre or up to 50 per cent of the time driven in the city. When Opel Grandland, Frontera or Mokka Hybrid slow down at higher speeds, the petrol engine switches off while the electric motor acts as a generator to recharge the 48-volt battery of the hybrid system. The optimally coordinated system is designed to always provide the best performance with the lowest energy consumption.

And customers looking for a third electrified drive variant will find what they are looking for in the new top-of-the-line Opel Grandland SUV. All-new Opel Grandland plug-in hybrid offers a locally emissions-free range of up to 87 kilometres (WLTP 1). With a system output of 143 kW (195 hp) and 350 Nm of maximum torque in combination with the electrified seven-speed dual clutch transmission, a lot of driving pleasure is guaranteed. Front-wheel drive car sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.8 seconds; A top speed of 220 km/h is possible.

Brussels Motor Show 2025: All-New Opel Grandland, Opel Frontera & Opel Mokka Take Centre Stage

  • Electrified SUVs: Opel CEO Florian Huettl presents all-new Grandland, Frontera and Mokka
  • Full selection: Opel is the first German manufacturer with a battery-electric version of each model
  • Simple, affordable, relaxed: Opel makes buying an electric car easier with “Electric All In”

Opel CEO Florian Huettl announced that the brand is going “Electric All In” at the brand's press conference at the start of the Brussels Motor Show 2025 earlier today. Opel is underpinning this with the electrified and at the same time youngest SUV portfolio on the market. Until January 19, Opel is presenting the all-new Opel Grandland and Frontera as well as the new Opel Mokka together in Belgium for the first time. In order to further push the electric offensive and make buying an electric car even easier, the Opel CEO also announced the new “Electric All In” package.

“Opel is a driver of the electrified automotive future and are the first German manufacturer to make buying an electric car even more affordable and relaxing with at least one battery-electric variant of every model. This is now also ensured by our new 'Electric All In' package, which makes the switch to electromobility attractive to our customers beyond the product itself,” said Florian Huettl at the press conference at stand 5.07 in Hall 5 of the Brussels Expo.

Unique: “Electric All In” approach and new electrified Opel SUV trio

What does “Electric All In” mean? Customers now receive numerous additional services when purchasing a battery-electric Opel. Depending on the market, services such as an ePro wallbox for quick charging at home, Opel Connect Plus services1 and eight years of mobile charging assistance, roadside assistance and battery guarantee are included. “A unique approach that provides the right answers to customers’ questions and makes the switch to a battery-electric model easier in every respect,” said Huettl.

With the new electrified SUV trio of Grandland, Frontera and Mokka, Opel is optimally positioned in this important growth market. The SUV market is the most important sector for Opel in Europe. B and C SUVs accounted for around 44 percent of all new car registrations in Europe last year - and demand continues to grow.

“Making innovations and new technologies accessible to broad audience is part of our DNA. This also includes promoting and implementing electromobility,” continued Huettl. “The new Opel Frontera Electric represents another milestone with its exemplary entry-level price – a spacious, family-friendly and, above all, affordable everyday hero.” With a vehicle length of 4.38 meters, the always electrified SUV offers space for up to seven people or up to around 1,600 litres of loading volume. Many practical features including a smartphone station complement the outstanding packaging. “For many customers, the Frontera will be their first electrified vehicle.”

The new top-of-the-line Opel Grandland SUV demonstrates what Opel means by ‘German Energy’ and ‘Modern German’. “The Grandland was designed and engineered in Germany and it is also built in the Eisenach factory,” said Huettl. The top model in the German brand's SUV trio is also the first Opel based on the BEV-native STLA Medium platform and offers numerous clever features and groundbreaking technologies such as the adaptive, glare-free IntelliLux HD light with more than 50,000 individual elements. The ‘Golden Steering Wheel 2024’ winner2 always delights with the new 3D Vizor – depending on the equipment, even with an illuminated Opel Blitz on the front for the first time. At the view, the Grandland also has the continuously illuminated Opel wordmark. “The Grandland also represents what we call ‘Greenovation’, one example being the chrome-free body. In total, the vehicle has more than 500 kilogrammes of 'green' materials," said Huettl, explaining how the Grandland further reduces its CO2 footprint in addition to its locally emissions-free drives.

Elsewhere, the new Opel Mokka is also an eyecatcher. “The Mokka has been our stylish brand shaper since its launch,” said the Opel CEO. For this reason, Opel has only gently sharpened the exterior design of the successful Mokka while focusing on bringing new life to the interior. “With the new Mokka, we are bringing state-of-the-art digital technologies from higher vehicle segments to the compact SUV class.” This includes the next generation of infotainment including intelligent ChatGPT 3 functions. And with the Mokka, customers also have a wide choice of highly efficient and resource-saving drive alternatives.

Fit for the future: With electrified newcomers and Opel bestsellers

But Opel is not only well positioned to meet the challenges and the changing buyer preferences with the new SUV trio. This is also ensured by the bestsellers exhibited in Brussels such as Corsa Electric and Astra Sports Tourer. For the fourth year in a row, the Corsa is the best-selling small car in Germany and the number one battery-electric vehicle in its segment in Great Britain. The Astra has a market share of more than 5 percent in its segment across Europe and was at the top of the registration figures in Germany last August for the first time this century, thus surpassing its competitors. In addition, it is the only model from a German manufacturer that currently offers a fully electric estate in this class, the Sports Tourer. And when it comes to light commercial vehicles, Opel is also at the forefront with its range – especially with the Vivaro Electric.

The Brussels Motor Show is open to the public daily from 10am to 7pm until January 19. On January 13 and 17, visitors can even enjoy the automotive innovations until 10pm.

The Opel Corsa has reaffirmed its position as the most popular small car in Germany in 2024. According to official data from the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), the Corsa took the top spot in the small car segment for the fourth year in a row with 43,467 new registrations.

Opel Continues Growth on German Home Market in 2024

  • Almost 175,000 new registrations in Germany – market share of 5.6%
  • Light commercial vehicle sales up by 40%

Opel achieved strong results in Germany last year in a challenging economic environment: According to preliminary internal figures, almost 175,000 cars and light commercial vehicles of the brand with the Blitz were registered over the course of the last 12 months. This represents an increase of 6.4% compared to 2023. The market share increased to 5.6% (2023: 5.3% ).

Opel light commercial vehicles were an important driver of growth. With more than 26,000 units of the Combo, Vivaro and Movano sold, the 2023 results were exceeded by an impressive 40%. The market share in the light commercial vehicle segment was up significantly by more than two percentage points to 9.1%. In addition, Opel also increased its passenger car sales last year. According to the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), 147,833 new registrations ensured a passenger car market share of 5.2 % (2023: 5.1%).

“We achieved very good results on our important German home market in 2024. This was primarily due to our attractive portfolio of light commercial vehicles and our bestselling Astra. This confirms our course and gives us further tailwind for a confident start to 2025 – with the new Mokka, the new family-friendly Frontera and the Grandland, our new top-of-the-line SUV,” said Patrick Dinger, head of Opel Germany.
