Opel Electrifies with Emotional Line-up at XS Cars'n'Coffee

  • Goosebumps, speed and euphoria: Opel Mokka GSE Rally and Opel Mokka GSE at the DEKRA Lausitzring
  • Rugged show car for all occasions: Opel Frontera GRAVEL made for adventure seekers
  • Opel in the spotlight: After the XS Carnight Festival on Lake Wörthersee, XS fans gather in Brandenburg

On Sunday, motorsport and tuning fans flocked to the DEKRA Lausitzring in Brandenburg where the community celebrated particularly sporty and eye-catching automobiles at the XS Cars'n'Coffee event. And Opel was right in the middle of the action. The brand with the Blitz attracted a lot of interest with its new battery-electric models Opel Mokka GSE Rally and Opel Mokka GSE as well as the extraordinary show car for adventure seekers, the Opel Frontera GRAVEL. A look at the trio was enough to create the proverbial OMG! feeling. Furthermore, Opel once again demonstrated that it has always sent the pulses of motorsport fans racing. The German brand also displayed an Opel Vectra B racing car from the Opel Classic collection.

Pure OMG! GSE power: New Opel Mokka GSE Rally and Opel Mokka GSE

At the Lausitzring, the new Opel Mokka GSE Rally was in its element at the weekend. Because the new rally electric car with the characteristic GSE abbreviation stands for goosebumps, speed and euphoria – perfect for the XS fans who had travelled to the event. From the outside, Opel Mokka GSE Rally, which was recently shown at the IAA Mobility in Munich, attracts attention with motorsport foiling including OMG! GSE lettering, black bonnet, yellow brake calipers and many other rally accents. The key technical data are even more impressive: 207 kW (281 hp) of peak power, 345 Newton metres of torque and sophisticated motorsport technology make the Mokka GSE Rally a unique all-electric rally car.

Best of all, Opel is also bringing this motorsport feeling to the general public in the form of the new Opel Mokka GSE, which is already available to order. With 207 kW (281 hp), the series electric car is just as powerful as its motorsport counterpart. And with the immediate torque of 345 Newton meters brisk acceleration is also guaranteed. Opel Mokka GSE accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds – and with a top speed of 200 km/h, it is now the fastest all-electric production Opel. The sophisticated technology, which is also inspired by the rally car, contributes to the extraordinary performance. For example, Opel Mokka GSE has a Torsen multi-plate limited-slip differential as well as a chassis with specifically designed axles and new double hydraulic shock absorbers. All high-voltage components of the production Opel Mokka GSE come from Opel Mokka GSE Rally. The steering system, chassis and brakes have also been designed to be particularly sporty and optimised with Opel's experience from electric rallying.

Adventure calls: With the Opel Frontera GRAVEL show car

Eleswhere, a completely different Opel celebrated its second XS Carnight appearance at the Lausitzring: the Opel Frontera GRAVEL. The bold, all-electric show car had already caused a stir at its first public appearance at the XS Carnight on Lake Wörthersee in the spring. Now the adventurous version of the family-friendly SUV Frontera thrilled visitors to XS Cars'n'Coffee. The exterior design of the Frontera GRAVEL already awakens the desire to head off the beaten track thanks to its characteristic paintwork and foiling. The matt black roof and the matt black bonnet contrast with the ‘Desert Stone’ foil uniquely selected for Opel Frontera GRAVEL. Additional orange accents are provided by the exterior mirror housings, front and rear bumpers, spoiler and the Opel Blitz in the black Opel Vizor.

The rugged look is further enhanced by a front-mounted winch and hook, side storage boxes at the rear, and a robust lattice-style roof rack designed to maximise gear-carrying capacity for all adventures. And in keeping with the tougher challenges of rough gravel and stone surfaces, Opel Frontera GRAVEL stands on special, seven-inch-wide CWE-16-inch BORBET wheels.

Combined values for Opel Mokka GSE according to WLTP1: Energy consumption 17.9-18.5 kWh/100 km, CO2 emissions 0 g/km; CO2 label: A

Rugged Show Car Ready for Everything: Opel Frontera GRAVEL

  • Showstopper: New show car provides a vision for a rugged version of family SUV
  • Beyond the asphalt: Extra-robust design made for rough and tough gravel roads
  • Public premiere: Opel Frontera GRAVEL at the XS CARNIGHT Wörthersee on May 30

New Opel Frontera is ready for daily adventures. It is rugged, offers plenty of space, is electrified in every variant and is ideally equipped for the demands of everyday life – as can be seen in the pan-European launch campaign. Opel Frontera GRAVEL, is a bold show car which demonstrates what a more adventure-ready variant of the family-friendly SUV could look like. Rougher, tougher, made for life beyond the asphalt – this is the feeling Opel Frontera GRAVEL conveys. Designed by Opel in Russelsheim for its enthusiast community and built in collaboration with motorsport tuning partners BlackFish and XS, it is therefore fitting that the Opel Frontera GRAVEL will make its first public appearance in front of car fan community at the XS CARNIGHT Wörthersee on May 30.

"New Opel Frontera is already standout. It is rugged, practical, and perfect for families and everyday adventures. But with the Opel Frontera GRAVEL show car, we’ve pushed the limits, imagining a tougher, more daring, trailblazing version. This concept is built to fire up our fanbase and test the demand for a bolder, more rugged Frontera in the future. It’s all about freedom, adventure, excitement and pushing boundaries," said Rebecca Reinermann, Vice President Marketing of Opel and Vauxhall.

New Adventures call with Opel Frontera GRAVEL show car

Opel Frontera GRAVEL is built on the all-electric production model of the new Opel Frontera, allowing for locally emissions-free driving and thus ideally suited for nature drives. Its low centre of gravity and strong torque make it perfectly suited for soft roading adventures. To match the tougher challenges of rougher gravel and stone surfaces, Opel Frontera GRAVEL stands on special, 7x16-inch CWE wheels from BORBET.

On the exterior, its distinctive colourway and foiling evoke a sense of adventure and exploration. The matte black roof and bonnet, contrast with the special ‘Desert stone’ foil, uniquely selected for the Opel Frontera GRAVEL. For greater visibility offroad additional orange accents on the exterior mirror housings, front and rear bumpers, spoiler and the Opel Blitz in the black Opel Vizor complete the bold and eye-catching look.

Rugged look is further enhanced by a front-mounted winch and hook, side storage boxes at the rear, and a robust lattice-style roof rack designed to maximise gear-carrying capacity for all adventures. Additional exterior spotlights are mounted on the Thule Canyon XT carrier and the bonnet, providing excellent visibility for night-time driving over rough terrain.

Bold yet rugged theme continues in the interior. Here, the XS specialists have introduced strong contrasts. The driver and front passenger can enjoy comfortable seats, trimmed in microfibre with bright orange highlights, while the headliner is completely black.

All those who want to be among the first to see the Opel Frontera GRAVEL live can do so in the coming days. At the XS CARNIGHT Wörthersee, which takes place from May 28 to June 1 around Klagenfurt, Austria, Opel and the XS team will present the unmistakable show car to the general public for the first time – on Friday, May 30, in the Opel Hall at the Klagenfurt Trade Fair. • Cooperation with XS Carnight to sharpen Opel’s image in the tuning community
  • Next appearance of Astra “XS” in September at XS Carnight at Lake Wörthersee

Tuning specialist XS has gone to work on the new Opel Astra plug-in hybrid. Electrified Astra show car in high-gloss white paint and black décor produces 133 kW/180 hp of system power and 360 Newton meters of maximum torque (WLTP combined fuel consumption1: 1.1 l/100 km, CO2 emissions 26-24 g/km). In addition, the five-door features top-of-the-line Ultimate equipment and numerous state-of-the-art technologies, such as the digital Pure Panel cockpit and the adaptive IntelliLux LED Pixel Light, as well as AGR-certified sport front seats. Project is part of a cooperation with XS Carnight that will further energise Opel’s image in the tuning community as the approachable German brand. Fans had already been wowed by the public debut of the newest Astra generation at last year’s international Tuning Meeting at Lake Wörthersee.

Team from the XS Carnight team has equipped the Astra with additional “GRINDS air suspension” and height sensors from “Carstyle me”, combined with the original shock absorbers. The 20-inch forged wheels (for display purposes only) from the American rim manufacturer "RVNT Forged" are real eye-catchers. Finally, the show car’s unmistakable look is completed by motorsport decals like those available from Opel Accessories, on the car’s sides and windscreen.

In the cooperation between XS Carnight and Opel – which this year is celebrating its 160th anniversary – the Astra show car will play a starring role at the anniversary XS Carnight “20 Years of XSCN” on July 29-30 at the Berlin Olympic Stadium. Anyone who wants to see Astra “XS” live should hurry; the last tickets are available online here. Next highlight in a series of events will be on September 17 with the XS Carnight at Lake Wörthersee in Austria.
