In 2026, Opel will once again expand the electrifying driving pleasure for everyone – with the new Opel Corsa GSE 1. The new high-performance variant of Germany's best-selling small car takes the sporty GSi genes of the first Corsa generation into the future – pulsating, exciting and fully electric. The most powerful production Corsa of all time to date will be released this year and will celebrate its exhibition premiere at the Paris Motor Show in October. However, Opel has already removed the covers today by publishing the first official pictures of the new ‘hot hatch’.

Electrifying Opel Corsa GSE: Small car, exhilarating performance

The Opel Corsa GSE brings the sporty genes of previous Corsa generations back to life. As a GSi, the Corsa A already thrilled fans of highly dynamic small cars who wanted to experience driving pleasure and performance. With the new Opel Corsa GSE, Opel returns to the market of real ‘hot hatches’ and charges it with even more emotion, excitement, performance and all-electric driving pleasure. Because that's exactly what GSE stands for: Grand Sport Electric!

Opel has already shown that battery-electric peak performance should not only be reserved for customers in the luxury segment with the introduction of the Opel Mokka GSE last year. And in the same way, the new Opel Corsa GSE makes a clear statement with its performance figures. With 207 kW (281 hp) and 345 Newton metres, the newcomer will offer just as much electric power as the current ‘Golden Steering Wheel’ [3] title holder Mokka GSE. At the same time, however, the Corsa GSE becomes even more dynamic. With an acceleration of just 5.5 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h1, the high-performance Corsa pushes its driver into the GSE performance seat more vehemently than any other current Opel production model. It reaches its top speed at 180 km/h 1.

Opel Corsa GSE drivers can choose from three different driving modes: In ‘Sport’ mode, the electric car is tuned for pure performance and calls up full power with its special ‘racetrack’-optimised calibration; in ‘Normal’ mode it delivers 170 kW (231 hp) and a sporty set-up design, the top speed of up to 180 km/h1 is also possible, and in ‘Eco’ all settings are trimmed for the greatest possible efficiency; here the top speed is 150 km/h1. The new Opel Corsa GSE stores its energy in a 54 kWh lithium-ion battery (51 kWh usable capacity). In order to ensure long-term, reliable sporty driving pleasure, the engineers have also adapted the temperature management system for the battery to the high GSE requirements.

Sophisticated technology also contributes to the exceptional performance, handling stability and direct feedback: the Corsa GSE has front-wheel drive with Torsen-multi-plate limited-slip differential and a lowered sports chassis with specifically designed axles, stabilisers and hydraulic shock absorbers. GSE-optimised steering and pedal tuning underlines the highly dynamic driving experience. And if necessary, four-piston performance brakes ensure immediate deceleration from high speeds.

Opel Corsa GSE design with wow effect: Hot everyday athlete at first glance

The new Opel Corsa GSE confidently displays its performance. While the well-known variants of the current Corsa generation already have a dynamic design, the ‘hot hatch’ also visually emphasises its high-performance claim down to the last detail with the GSE-specific front apron immediately catching the eye. Just like the rear, it is even sharper than in the other model variants. This is ensured, among other things, by visual ‘air intakes’ as well as the black trim in the lower part of the vehicle and on the wide wheel arches, which contrasts with the contour white shimmering paintwork. The black roof and the black rear spoiler reinforce this effect.

With sporty 18-inch rims and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 215/40 R18 tyres the new Corsa GSE boasts an uncompromising stance. Under the striking rims in a three-spoke design, the Alcon brake calipers with clearly visible GSE lettering are eye-catchers. This high-performance look is also underlined by the specific GSE abbreviation on the sides of the vehicle.

Opel Corsa GSE interior: Modern interpretation of the classic Opel hot hatch style

The bold GSE design is also reflected in the interior. Here, the ‘hot hatch’ idea comes back to life – as a reminiscence of the sporty models of the Opel Corsa A generation and at the same time interpreted in a modern and forward-looking way. The driver and front passenger sit on performance seats with Alcantara applications and integrated head restraints, which evoke memories with covers in a black, grey and yellow chequered pattern. Bright yellow seatbelts form a strong contrast. The highest quality is also conveyed by the Alcantara-covered steering wheel and door inserts, the armrests with yellow stitching and the instrument panel with GSE logo against a silver-grey background. Acceleration and braking commands are given via the aluminium sports pedals. Further specific interior trim options complete the offer for the Opel Corsa GSE.

The necessary information is transmitted to the driver by the digital driver information display, which can be personalised in many ways, and the central 10-inch colour touchscreen. This contains GSE performance data, G-force display, acceleration values, battery management data and much more. The displays were also designed in the typical GSE style. The new Opel Corsa GSE is characterised by a technically high-quality and highly dynamic design down to the smallest detail, both inside and out.

In addition, the Opel Corsa GSE is equipped with numerous technology and comfort details that are as high-quality as they are practical. The repertoire includes features ranging from heated seats and steering wheel to the 180-degree reversing camera and the Keyless Entry & Start system to the bidirectional onboard charger (V2L), which not only allows the everyday athlete to be charged, but can also be used to supply external devices from e-bikes to electric grills with energy directly from the vehicle's battery.

2026 Rally season: Opel Mokka GSE Rally to promise Grand Sport Electric in ADAC Opel GSE Rally Cup

Good news for motorsport fans and rally talents alike. Opel and ADAC have announced some exciting changes for the 2026 rally season. Going forward, the world's first electric one-make rally cup will be called ADAC Opel GSE Rally Cup. Furthermore, the participants will no longer face the challenging stages in the Opel Corsa Rally Electric – instead they will show their talents in the 207 kW (281 hp) Opel Mokka GSE Rally, the first car currently being developed according to the FIA's new eRally5 regulations. The 2026 season of the GSE Rally Cup is set to take place across seven rounds in six different European countries and will begin in May with the ELE Rally in Eindhoven, Netherlands.

Power, performance, thrills: New Opel Mokka GSE Rally

Teams and drivers can look forward to getting their hands on the Opel Mokka GSE Rally, the first car currently being developed according to the FIA's new eRally5 regulations. With a peak power output of 207 kW (281 hp) it is more than twice as powerful as the Opel Corsa Rally Electric (100 kW/136 hp). In combination with 345 Newton metres of torque and sophisticated motorsport technology, it promises performance on a par with a Rally4 car. A multi-plate limited-slip differential and a racing gearbox, together with reinforced drive shafts and wheel hubs, provide powerful propulsion. The chassis was manufactured in a lightweight design. The perfectly tuned rally suspension from Bilstein consists of reinforced McPherson struts and uniball mounts on the front axle as well as a rear axle with modified springs and dampers. Based on the experience gained from the Corsa Rally Electric, the software tuning for the engine and battery management has been designed for maximum efficiency, drivability under competitive conditions and performance. The battery corresponds to the series version with a storage capacity of 54 kWh.

"Since the launch of this pioneering motorsport project, our Opel Corsa Rally Electric has demonstrated season by season its reliability, robustness, and impressive performance – even under most demanding rally conditions. Now we're taking it to the next level: I had the chance to experience the Mokka GSE Rally in action at the Rally Stemwede in northern Germany. Seeing the motorsport fan reactions to our future rally car shows that we are heading in the right direction with our GSE label and that it has been a good decision to develop a Mokka GSE as series model for Opel customers," said Marcus Lott, Senior Vice President Stellantis Lead Engineering Central Europe.

In addition to ensuring outstanding performance, extremely high safety standards have been retained. Like the Opel Corsa Rally Electric, the Mokka GSE Rally also has a roll cage (certified by the FIA), rally seats with six-point seatbelts, a special encapsulation of the battery and an additional underride guard. The 400-volt system is continuously monitored by the Master Alarm Indicator. In the unlikely event of an insulation issue, a visual and acoustic warning system immediately reports a malfunction. In case of a sudden deceleration (such as in a collision), a sophisticated sensor system completely shuts down the high-voltage system in a few tenths of a second. In addition, the Opel Mokka GSE Rally has a special extinguishing system with electrically non-conductive extinguishing agent.

Electric motorsport and talent pool: Opel supports rally stars of tomorrow

Since 2013, the champions of the former ADAC Opel Rallye Cup and the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup ‘powered by GSE’, which was launched in 2021, have automatically been promoted to the ADAC Opel Rally Junior Team where they have put their undoubted skills to the test in the Opel Corsa Rally4 in the Junior European Championship. This year, Calle Carlberg brought home Opel’s sixth title in the last decade and the Swede followed in the footsteps of Emil Bergkvist (Sweden, 2015), Marijan Griebel (Germany, 2016), Chris Ingram (England, 2017), Martins Sesks (Latvia, 2018) and Laurent Pellier (France, 2022). After having won the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup this year, Tom Heindrichs will be promoted into the ADAC Opel Rally Junior Team next year.

The fastest all-electric production Opel, which celebrated its world premiere at this year's IAA Mobility in Munich, arouses the enthusiasm of experts and the public.

Opel Mokka GSE thus follows directly on the heels of last year's award winning Opel Grandland. And the newcomer passed with flying colours. The motorsport professionals, car experts and celebrities named Opel Mokka GSE the ‘Best Small Car 2025’1. In the thrilling finale, they awarded Opel Mokka GSE a total of 3,345 points. It thus comfortably beat its main rivals by 374 and 432 points respectively.

The sophisticated technology, which was also inspired by the rally car, contributes to the exceptional performance. Thanks to the 54 kWh battery, up to 336 kilometres (WLTP 3) can be covered locally emissions-free before Opel Mokka GSE needs recharging.

In addition, there are numerous design and equipment details that convey pure emotions. These include GSE-specific inserts and lettering on the body, a wheel-tyre combination specially developed for Opel Mokka GSE and clearly visible, yellow GSE four-piston brake calipers at the front. In the interior, the driver and front passenger sit on special Alcantara performance seats with integrated headrests designed in the GSE look. 

The newly developed steering system for Opel Mokka GSE along with the steering wheel which is flattened at the top and bottom promise direct feedback. Acceleration and braking commands are given via aluminium sports pedals. 

Technologies such as the adaptive, glare-free Intelli-Lux Matrix light and the 180-degree panoramic reversing camera are standard, making the journey more pleasant and safe.

Opel and the ‘Golden Steering Wheel’: All 22 winners from Rüsselsheim

New Opel Mokka GSE is the latest in a proud series of Opel winners of the ‘Golden Steering Wheel’. Out of 72 new models, 21 finalists competed in 7 categories this year. After the tests at the Lausitzring, the respective category winners were finally determined. The award, which is presented by BILD am SONNTAG in cooperation with AUTO BILD, is considered the ‘Oscar’ of the automotive industry. In 49 editions the brand with the Blitz has been recognised 22 times. Since 2020 alone, the trophy has gone to Rüsselsheim five times. Opel celebrated its first success in 1978, two years after the award was founded, with the Senator A taking top honours.

Now Opel is showing the first pictures of the exciting high-performance model. The new Mokka GSE will be nothing less than the fastest battery-electric Opel – packed in a unique GSE and rally design and equipped with specific technology.

Above all, the new Opel Mokka GSE impresses with its strong performance. With a peak output of 207 kW (280 hp), the serial production electric car will be just as powerful as its motorsport counterpart. And with an immediate torque of 345 Newton meters, it accelerates just as uncompromisingly. From a standing start it can reach 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds – and with a top speed of 200 km/h, it will soon be the fastest all-electric Opel. Mokka GSE drivers can choose from three distinct drive modes: In ‘Sport’ mode, the electric car is set up for performance and delivers its full power; in ‘Normal’ mode it reaches up to 180 km/h and in ‘Eco’ all settings are trimmed for the greatest possible efficiency. The Mokka GSE stores its energy in a 54 kWh lithium-ion battery.

Its kerb weight of less than 1.6 tonnes, which is exemplary for a battery-electric vehicle, and the sophisticated technology, which was also inspired by the rally prototype, also contribute to the exceptional performance. For example, the Opel Mokka GSE has front-wheel drive with Torsen multi-plate limited-slip differential as well as a chassis with specially designed axles and new double hydraulic shock absorbers. All high-voltage components of the standard Opel Mokka GSE, such as the motor, inverter, battery or wiring harness, come from the Opel Mokka GSE Rally. The steering system, chassis and brakes have also been designed to be particularly sporty and optimised thanks to Opel's experience in electric rallying.

OMG! GSE design: Arouse emotions with GSE and rally accents

The new Opel Mokka GSE also confidently conveys its ‘inner values’ to the outside world. While the well-known and successful Opel Mokka already turns heads with its characteristic design, new colours, new cockpit and top technologies, the new Opel Mokka GSE shows at first glance: It can be even faster and more exciting and emotional! GSE-specific inserts inspired by the rally prototype adorn the compact electric car on the front apron and at the rear. Safe contact with the road is ensured by the wheel-tyre combination specially developed for the Opel Mokka GSE. The new aerodynamically optimised 20-inch alloy wheels combined with the Michelin Pilot Sport EV 225/40 R20 tyres are only available for the Mokka GSE at Opel. Within the strikingly designed rims in GSE design, the yellow GSE brake calipers stand out.

 And finally, the yellow and black GSE lettering on the front and sides make a further clear statement.

This claim is also confirmed by the interior of the new Opel Mokka GSE. Grey/black, white and yellow are the predominant colours. The driver and co-driver sit on special Alcantara GSE sports seats with integrated headrests, which optimally integrate the driver into the vehicle. A white line that extends across the centre of the covers and yellow stitching give the seats their characteristic look. Furthermore, Alcantara door inserts are further proof of the attention to detail. 

The steering system, which was newly developed for the Mokka GSE, and steering wheel, flattened at the top and bottom, promise direct feedback while aluminium sports pedals await acceleration and braking commands.

The necessary information is provided to the driver by the 10-inch digital driver information display that can be customised in many ways and the central colour touchscreen. Opel sets another milestone on the way to becoming an all-electric brand: The Astra is fully electric for the first time in its long success story. The new Opel Astra Electric underlines the electrifying driving pleasure with an equally inspiring, clear and bold design and top equipment. Numerous electronic aids are on board as standard. In addition, the IntelliDrive 2.0 system with semi-automatic lane change assist and intelligent speed adaptation is available as an option for the first time with the battery-electric Astra. Comfort is enhanced by AGR-certified ergonomic Active Sport driver’s seat as standard, while the fully digital Pure Panel Pro cockpit with two 10-inch displays and Multimedia infotainment system ensures the best in connectivity and entertainment. The new Opel Astra Electric GS can be leased in Germany for monthly rates starting at €399.

Opel Astra customers can now choose from more drivetrain alternatives than for any other model with the “Blitz”. In addition to highly efficient combustion engines, the Astra is already available as an electrified plug-in hybrid including the new top-of-the-line model, the Astra GSe. And the range will be complemented this year by the battery-electric Astra Sports Tourer Electric, as the first all-electric estate from a German carmaker.

Efficient, emotional, everyday suitability: Driving fun with responsibility

The new Opel Astra Electric conveys pure locally emissions-free driving fun. The electric motor delivers 115 kW/156 hp and a powerful 270 Newton metres of maximum torque – both available from the first touch of the accelerator pedal, ensuring brisk starts. The low kerb weight of 1,679 kilogrammes contributes further to the lively progress. Also, while many other electric cars are limited to 150 km/h or 160 km/h, the new Astra Electric has a top speed of 170 km/h. Depending on preferences, Astra Electric drivers can choose between the three driving modes Eco, Normal and Sport.

The energy is stored in a 54 kWh lithium-ion battery. The energy is stored in a compact 54-kWh lithium-ion battery, which offers efficient packaging, low weight, exemplary range and short charging times. The five-door can cover up to 418 kilometres locally emissions-free in accordance with WLTP 1  and requires just 14.8 kWh of electricity per 100 kilometres (WLTP 2). The regenerative braking system ensures that energy can be recovered while driving. Even when the battery-electric Astra needs to be recharged, this only means a short “pit stop” at a charging point. Opel Astra Electric can be charged to 80 per cent of the battery capacity in under 30 minutes at a 100 kW direct current fast charging station. In addition, the all-electric Opel Astra is equipped as standard with a three-phase 11-kW onboard charger for the wall box at home.

The battery is located in the underbody, so no space for passengers and luggage is lost in the interior. Even with the rear seats up, Opel Astra Electric offers 352 litres of luggage space in the boot – with the seats folded down, the capacity increases to up to 1,268 litres. Another advantage: The low position of the battery also lowers the car’s centre of gravity, so that Opel Astra Electric has a solid stance on the road and the driver can take a sporty seating position. In addition, the torsional stiffness has been increased by 31 per cent compared to the already outstanding values of other Astra model variants.

Opel Astra Electric GS: Top equipment and top design as standard equipment

Thanks to the torsional rigidity of the body and the extensive noise attenuation measures, Opel Astra Electric occupants enjoy a particularly high level of comfort. For example, the laminated windows (standard equipment) effectively keep ambient noise and driving sounds away from the interior. The ergonomic Active Sport driver’s seat offers Opel Astra Electric drivers the highest level of seating comfort à la Opel. The seat, which has been certified by “Aktion Gesunder Rücken e.V.” (AGR; Campaign for Healthier Backs), offers excellent lateral stability and a wide range of manual and electric adjustment options.

The extensive list of assistance systems as standard equipment ranges from front collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, lane keep assist and traffic sign recognition, to drowsiness detection, adaptive cruise control with stop and go function, park pilot at front and rear, and 360-degree IntelliVision camera.

The optional IntelliDrive 2.0 system, which integrates numerous electronic assistants and combines them for the first time with semi-automatic lane-change and intelligent speed adaptation, celebrates its premiere. If the targeted lane is clear, the assistant steers Opel Astra Electric into the desired lane with small steering movements. And intelligent speed adaptation ensures that - if confirmed by the driver - the vehicle's speed is reduced accordingly when a new speed limit is reached or increased up to that limit. In addition to sensors, IntelliDrive 2.0 also uses information from the over-the-air network. IntelliLux LED Pixel Light, with 168 LED elements, increases safety still further.

The fully digital Pure Panel also takes the driver into a modern cockpit world. Utilising the integrated Snapdragon Automotive Cockpit Platform from Qualcomm Technologies 3, the infotainment systems of Opel Astra Electric feature enhanced graphics, multimedia and computer vision functions. The intuitive human-machine interface with two large 10-inch widescreens displays all important functions such as battery charge status or range, while settings such as climate control can still be easily adjusted at the touch of a button. And with the large E-HUD head-up display and natural voice recognition, drivers’ eyes can stay focused on the road and the traffic situation.

Opel Astra Electric conveys a direct, dynamic driving feel at first glance. The new electric model in the Opel range is equipped as standard with 18-inch, five-spoke, light-alloy wheels in high-gloss black, which underline the bold and pure looks. The two-tone paintwork with the roof and exterior mirror-housings in carbon black also ensure that the Opel Astra Electric is an unmistakable eye-catcher.

Opel Mokka-e is becoming the Opel Mokka Electric with the best-selling battery-electric vehicle in the B-SUV segment in Germany in October and November now getting even more powerful, efficient, and attractive. All-electric "Winner of the Golden Steering Wheel 2021" 2 will also be available with a larger battery and more power in the future. With the new 54 kWh battery, Opel Mokka Electric drivers can cover up to 406 kilometres instead of up to 338 kilometres locally emission-free according to WLTP 1 – a significant improvement of 20 percent. At the same time, energy consumption has decreased to 15.2 kWh per 100 kilometres (WLTP 3). However, the Mokka Electric is not just highly efficient – with an output of 115 kW/156 hp and 260 Newton meters of torque, the electric motor, which is also used in the new Opel Astra Electric delivers pure driving pleasure.

Electric SUV pioneer even better as Opel Mokka Electric

Mokka shows Opel’s approach to innovative, forward-looking and emotionalising mobility: Not only was the stylish SUV the first Opel to wear the new brand face, the Opel Vizor, it was also the first Opel with the fully digitised Pure Panel cockpit. In addition, it was the first Opel available at the start of sales with fully electric drive as well as highly efficient combustion engines, thus giving customers the choice of which drive suits their needs best – and that choice is already predominantly electric. In November, no less than 65 percent of all Mokka customers in Germany opted for the battery-electric, locally emission-free variant – which is now getting even better.

Range of up to 406 kilometres (according to WLTP 1) – and thus 20 percent more than to date – promises all-round, everyday, enduring electric driving fun in the city as well as on longer journeys. Energy is stored in the new, 54 kWh lithium-ion battery. Engineers attached great importance to efficient packaging and were thus able to ensure an exemplary range with a compact battery size.

As with all fully electric Opel models, the 54 kWh battery of Mokka Electric is practically installed in the underbody. Thus, no space is lost in the passenger or luggage compartment and Opel Mokka Electric has excellent roadholding qualities. Vehicle's low center of gravity increases safety and driving pleasure. With an output of 115 kW/156 hp and maximum torque of 260 Newton meters that is immediately available with the first tap of the accelerator, Opel Mokka Electric ensures brisk starts and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in under 10 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 150 km/h.

Depending on their preference, Opel Mokka Electric drivers can choose between the three driving modes Eco, Normal and Sport. In Eco mode, the electric SUV is most energy-efficient in favour of the overall range. Thanks to a state-of-the-art regenerative braking system, the Mokka Electric can also recuperate energy when decelerating or braking. Electric motor then converts the forward momentum into electricity. If the driver shifts the transmission into the B mode, recuperation and braking torque increase. And when the compact SUV has to “refuel”, the 54 kWh battery can be recharged to up to 80 percent state-of-charge in around 30 minutes at a 100 kW DC charging station. The Mokka Electric has this fast-charging function as standard. In addition to direct current, Opel drivers can also charge three-phase alternating current thanks to the 11 kW onboard charger – via a wall box or with a cable for the household socket.

Efficiency and comfort are a given in Opel Mokka Electric. Numerous heating systems and technologies from the standard heat pump to the practical myOpel app, which can be used to program the pre-conditioning by remote control, ensure a cozy atmosphere right from the start – especially during the colder months of the year.

Opel Mokka Electric with more power and a longer range is another example of how Opel is consistently pushing ahead with its electric offensive. Twelve electrified Opel models are already available today, including the entire range of light commercial vehicles. By 2024, the manufacturer will also offer every model in an electrified version. And by 2028, Opel will become an all-electric brand in Europe.
