  • New: Now with 144 kW (196 hp) system output and electrified seven-speed dual-clutch transmission
  • Additional range: Electric range of up to 83 kilometres (combined (EAER) acc. to WLTP1) with 17.2 kWh battery
  • Order books open: Astra Plug-in Hybrid from €38,460, Astra Sports Tourer Plug-in Hybrid from €39,960 (all prices RRP incl. VAT in Germany)

Sporty, elegant, practical, comfortable and highly efficient: these are the qualities that distinguish the Opel Astra and Opel Astra Sports Tourer. In addition, the compact class bestsellers offer a variety of drives like no other Opel model. Battery-electric, as a plug-in hybrid, with a highly efficient combustion engine and also as a hybrid with 48-volt technology – customers have the full choice, which is now becoming even more attractive. Because from now on, Opel Astra and Astra Sports Tourer are available with a new plug-in hybrid drivetrain. The advantages for customers are manifold: With 144 kW (196 hp), the new plug-in hybrid offers an increase in output of 11 kW (16 hp) compared to the previous version. At the same time, a larger battery enables additional electric range; Consumption and energy demand, on the other hand, are reduced. And thanks to the new transmission, drivers and passengers enjoy more driving comfort.

“For those who want to drive particularly dynamically and responsibly at the same time without already being fully electric, the new plug-in hybrid in the Opel Astra and Astra Sports Tourer is exactly the right choice. 144 kW (196 hp) of system power and 360 Newton metres of torque promise brisk driving pleasure. In addition, with the plug-in hybrid customers have the advantage of conserving energy for when it is required. For example, they can switch to purely electric operation in the city. This gives them the freedom to always choose their preferred drive type,” said Opel Germany brand boss Patrick Dinger.

New Opel Astra Plug-in Hybrid is now available for prices starting at €38,460 – and thus not a cent more expensive than before. The starting price for its estate counterpart, Opel Astra Sports Tourer Plug-in Hybrid, is also unchanged at €39,960 (all prices RRP incl. VAT in Germany). The compact-class models thus complement the brand's modernised plug-in hybrid portfolio. The new Opel Grandland is also available with the next-generation plug-in hybrid drive.

New Opel Astra Plug-in Hybrid: Electric range of up to 83 kilometres (combined (EAER) according to WLTP 1)

Those not yet ready to go on all-electric holiday trips, but wanting to commute or drive into the city with zero local emissions, can simply choose the highly efficient plug-in hybrid drive for the Opel Astra and Astra Sports Tourer. With 144 kW (196 hp) of system output and 360 Newton metres of maximum torque in combination with the new electrified seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, driving pleasure is guaranteed. The five-door accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.6 seconds (Sports Tourer: 7.7 seconds); the top speed is 225 km/h.

The exemplary interaction of the combustion engine and electric motor ensures balanced performance. The 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine has an output of 110 kW (150 hp). The electric motor of the front-wheel drive car now contributes up to 92 kW (125 hp) instead of 81 kW (110 hp). For emissions-free operation in city traffic and urban areas, the electric mode can simply be selected. Thanks to the increased battery capacity of 17.2 kWh (instead of 12.4 kWh previously) the all-electric and thus locally emissions-free range in accordance with WLTP 1 is up by 26 kilometres to up to 83 kilometres. The new 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine also provides exemplary figures, further reducing fuel consumption. For example, Opel Astra and Astra Sports Tourer plug-in hybrids require only 12.7-13.1 kWh of electricity and 2.2-2.4 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres 2 (previously 16.3-16.5 kWh of electricity and 1.3 litres).

The new electrified seven-speed dual-clutch transmission increases driving comfort. In contrast to the six-speed dual-clutch transmission used in the hybrid with 48-volt technology, it has an additional gear and has been optimised for the higher performance of the plug-in hybrid.

In addition, new Opel Astra Plug-in Hybrid comes with numerous modern technologies and comfort features as standard in every variant. They range from the multimedia infotainment system, each with a ten-inch colour touchscreen and driver information display, to wireless smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, to the keyless start system ‘Keyless Start’.

[1] Range values determined according to WLTP test procedure methodology (R (EC) No. 715/2007, R (EU) No. 2017/1151). The actual range can vary under everyday conditions and depends on various factors, in particular on personal driving style, route characteristics, outside temperature, use of heating and air conditioning and thermal preconditioning.

[2] A vehicle's values not only depend on the vehicle's efficient use of fuel, but are also influenced by driving behaviour and other non-technical factors.

Fastest All-electric Opel: Impressive Opel Mokka GSE Revealed

  • OMG! GSE: New Opel Mokka GSE brings high-performance rally feeling to serial production
  • Peak power: 207 kW (280 hp), 345 Nm torque, 200 km/h top speed, from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds
  • GSE highlights: Opel Mokka GSE Rally-inspired design plus special suspension and 20-inch wheels

High-performance, all-electric serial production models are what Opel has teased under the ‘OMG! GSE’ abbreviation. And the brand with the Blitz is once again keeping its promises: Opel recently announced that the Opel Mokka GSE 1, inspired by the prototype Opel Mokka GSE Rally, will go into serial production. Now Opel is showing the first pictures of the exciting high-performance model. The new Mokka GSE will be nothing less than the fastest battery-electric Opel – packed in a unique GSE and rally design and equipped with specific technology.

“The new Opel Mokka GSE brings motorsport energy to the streets. After five years pioneering in electric motorsport with the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup, we have put our best engineering, power, and handling into a car made for daily thrills. With its striking design, sharp handling, and outstanding performance, the Opel Mokka GSE is made to turn heads and thrill the driver. We can't wait to get it into the hands of our car loving community soon,” said Rebecca Reinermann, Vice President Marketing of Opel and Vauxhall.

OMG! GSE power: 207 kW (280 hp), 200 km/h and special GSE technology

Above all, the new Opel Mokka GSE impresses with its strong performance. With a peak output of 207 kW (280 hp), the serial production electric car will be just as powerful as its motorsport counterpart. And with an immediate torque of 345 Newton meters, it accelerates just as uncompromisingly. From a standing start it can reach 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds – and with a top speed of 200 km/h, it will soon be the fastest all-electric Opel. Mokka GSE drivers can choose from three distinct drive modes: In ‘Sport’ mode, the electric car is set up for performance and delivers its full power; in ‘Normal’ mode it reaches up to 180 km/h and in ‘Eco’ all settings are trimmed for the greatest possible efficiency. The Mokka GSE stores its energy in a 54 kWh lithium-ion battery.

Its kerb weight of less than 1.6 tonnes, which is exemplary for a battery-electric vehicle, and the sophisticated technology, which was also inspired by the rally prototype, also contribute to the exceptional performance. For example, the Opel Mokka GSE has front-wheel drive with Torsen multi-plate limited-slip differential as well as a chassis with specially designed axles and new double hydraulic shock absorbers. All high-voltage components of the standard Opel Mokka GSE, such as the motor, inverter, battery or wiring harness, come from the Opel Mokka GSE Rally. The steering system, chassis and brakes have also been designed to be particularly sporty and optimised thanks to Opel's experience in electric rallying.

OMG! GSE design: Arouse emotions with GSE and rally accents

The new Opel Mokka GSE also confidently conveys its ‘inner values’ to the outside world. While the well-known and successful Opel Mokka already turns heads with its characteristic design, new colours, new cockpit and top technologies, the new Opel Mokka GSE shows at first glance: It can be even faster and more exciting and emotional! GSE-specific inserts inspired by the rally prototype adorn the compact electric car on the front apron and at the rear. Safe contact with the road is ensured by the wheel-tyre combination specially developed for the Opel Mokka GSE. The new aerodynamically optimised 20-inch alloy wheels combined with the Michelin Pilot Sport EV 225/40 R20 tyres are only available for the Mokka GSE at Opel. Within the strikingly designed rims in GSE design, the yellow GSE brake calipers stand out.

And finally, the yellow and black GSE lettering on the front and sides make a further clear statement.

This claim is also confirmed by the interior of the new Opel Mokka GSE. Grey/black, white and yellow are the predominant colours. The driver and co-driver sit on special Alcantara GSE sports seats with integrated headrests, which optimally integrate the driver into the vehicle. A white line that extends across the centre of the covers and yellow stitching give the seats their characteristic look. Furthermore, Alcantara door inserts are further proof of the attention to detail.

The steering system, which was newly developed for the Mokka GSE, and steering wheel, flattened at the top and bottom, promise direct feedback while aluminium sports pedals await acceleration and braking commands.

The necessary information is provided to the driver by the 10-inch digital driver information display that can be customised in many ways and the central colour touchscreen. This contains GSE performance data, G-force display, acceleration values, battery management data and much more. The displays were also designed in the typical GSE style. The new Opel Mokka GSE is characterised by a technically high-quality and highly dynamic design down to the smallest detail, both inside and out.

With all these components, the standard Opel Mokka GSE will also deliver true OMG! GSE moments in everyday use in the future! Further information on the world premiere and market launch of the new Opel Mokka GSE will follow shortly.

Opel Company Run 2025: Around 1,200 Participants at the Start

  • OMG! GSE: New motto, new Opel models and new running track inspire
  • Strong together: Around 750 Opel and Stellantis employees on the road together
  • Popular refreshments: After the mass sports event, runners, families and friends celebrate at the after-run party

OMG! GSE – under this motto, many Opel employees lined up at the start of the Opel Company run on Thursday evening. The 12th edition of this popular mass-use event was just as energetic as the slogan emblazoned on the Opel running shirts and the Opel Mokka GSE prototype, which is currently stirring up enthusiasm for Opel's new, extra-sporty and fully electrified GSE models. In midsummer temperatures, around 1,200 runners gathered at the Rüsselsheim stadium on Sommerdamm to tackle the new, almost six-kilometer-long course along the Main River together starting at 7 p.m., and then celebrate their achievements.

"The team spirit at the Opel Company Run is incomparable. We start together – and we reach the finish line together, even if – like today – it might be a bit more strenuous. An experience like this brings people together. These very special moments on and off the track define Opel, the runners, and all their families and friends as a community," said Florian Huettl after crossing the finish line at the Sommerdamm stadium. The Opel CEO and Managing Director Stellantis Germany, along with other representatives of the Opel management team, including Ralph Wangemann, Managing Director of Human Resources and Director of Labor Relations at Opel Automobile GmbH and Head of Human Resources at Stellantis in Germany, Senior Vice President of Global Sales at Opel Tobias Gubitz, and General Counsel Stefan Zimmermann, set out on the course with sporting ambition and joined the diverse field of participants from near and far.

"The Opel Company Run has long been more than just a sporting event. It represents movement, community, and a sense of solidarity with our city. As mayor and head of the sports department, I'm delighted that so many people participated again this year—whether by running or on the course," said Patrick Burghardt, delighted with the successful Opel Company Run, which has long since become a traditional national event.

Before the awards ceremony and the after-run party with refreshing drinks, however, the challenge was to tackle the almost six-kilometer-long run course together. For the first time, it led from the stadium directly to the Mainwiesen meadows and on a circular route along the Main River, via Gate 20 into the old Opel factory, before finally returning to the stadium. Just as new as the route were the model highlights with which Opel thrilled participants and guests.

In keeping with the sporting event, the bold, adventurous vision of the Frontera family SUV was on display: Opel Frontera GRAVEL was the eye-catcher at the start and finish point of the Opel company run . The top-of-the-line Opel Grandland and the extra-stylish Opel Mokka completed the SUV trio with the lightning bolt. ¨

Also present at the stadium were the vocational training, the Diversity & Inclusion team, and the Women of Stellantis.

As is tradition, the awards ceremony for the best teams also took place in the stadium. The fastest women's team was "Bodyshape & Lifting - Medical Beauty." The men's team, "Physioteam 1," took the lead. And the fastest mixed team was "Commerzbank BSG Running 2." The spectators also greeted the senior team, "The Old Sweaty Feet of the LG," with admiration and respect. At 284 years of age, these runners were once again the oldest group in the company run.

The top finishers in each category were delighted to receive attractive prizes such as running training sessions, courses, and joint analysis from Medifit, tickets to the Pista & Piloti event, a wireless keyboard, and much more in the brand's design. Opel Bank – Stellantis Financial Services, the City of Rüsselsheim, Prae Natura, Viactiv, Würth, and Continental actively supported the Opel Corporate Run 2025 as cooperation partners.
