Eisenach plant celebrates the 100,000th Opel Grandland

Anniversary at the Thuringian plant: shortly before the start of the plant holidays, the 100,000th Opel Grandland “Made in Eisenach” rolled off the assembly line. It was a pre-production copy of the new SUV model. In addition to the new design of the brand with the lightning bolt, the newcomer also offers many innovative technologies, a state-of-the-art cockpit world with fully digital Pure Panel and a highly efficient drive portfolio. Electric plug-in hybrid versions are also included.

Plant manager Jörg Escher: “We in Eisenach are delighted that the conversion of the plant to the new Opel model is going so smoothly. Despite many pandemic-related restrictions, team did a great job, the quality was right, and we are on schedule for the official start of series production in autumn. "

Eisenach plant was fundamentally rebuilt in 2019 in order to localize the EMP2 platform. Among other things, the "marriage" - the connection of the chassis and body to one unit - has been completely modernized, and a more efficient and environmentally friendly painting process has been introduced. This modernization, the most extensive in the history of the Thuringian plant, made it possible to improve efficiency in all production areas.

Opel Germany boss Andreas Marx is looking forward to the car from Thuringia: “New Opel Grandland is our ultra-modern SUV flagship. With its sporty, elegant design and technologies from higher vehicle classes, it will delight customers. You have the full selection of highly efficient gasoline and diesel engines as well as powerful plug-in hybrid variants with or without electric all-wheel drive. "
