Opel Grandland X celebrated its world premiere exactly one year ago at the IAA Frankfurt international motor show. In the meantime Opel’s newest Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) has established itself very successfully in the market segment. Since sales began in summer 2017 customers have placed more than 100,000 orders for the dynamic SUV, with about 25 percent of them coming from Germany. Demand is especially high for the Opel Grandland X with technology and comfort features such as AFL Full LED Adaptive Forward Lighting and the Navi 5.0 IntelliLink infotainment system.

Opel Grandland X tops our SUV range and is the perfect complement to the Opel Crossland X and the Opel Mokka X.”

In the most recent production allocations, Groupe PSA decided that the Grandland X will be made at the Eisenach plant from 2019 onward. A Grandland X representing the 100,000 customers was therefore delivered by Autohaus Schorr in Eisenach. Happy owner, Antje Fink said: “I ordered the Opel Grandland X because it is not only sporty but also comfortable. Full LED headlamps and the excellent AGR seats are simply ‘must-haves’. And the Opel Grandland X will also be built here, which makes it a real Thuringian.”

Happy motoring: Sascha Schorr, managing director of Autohaus Schorr GmbH in Eisenach, gives Antje Fink her new Opel Grandland X.

180 hp Direct Injection Turbo with eight-speed automatic for Opel’s compact SUV

Opel Grandland X 1.6 Direct Injection Turbo

Opel is offering a new top-of-the-line powertrain in the stylish Grandland X. The cool-looking sports utility vehicle (SUV) will receive a new turbocharged direct injection petrol engine, which is available with a seamless-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission. The all-aluminium, PureTech power unit not only delivers strong performance, it also produces low emissions, thanks to a state-of-the-art exhaust after-treatment system that includes a Gasoline Particulate Filter (GPF). Opel Grandland X 1.6 Direct Injection Turbo with start/stop (fuel consumption1,2: 7.2-7.1 l/100 km urban, 5.0-4.9 l/100 km extra-urban, 5.8-5.7 l/100 km and 132-130 g/km CO2 combined) already meets the future Euro 6d-TEMP emissions standard.

The four-cylinder engine with dual overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder develops peak power of 133 kW/180 hp at 5,500 rpm and maximum torque of 250 Nm at only 1,750 rpm. The lively power unit, which is also notable for its direct throttle response, accelerates the Opel Grandland X from zero to 100 km/h in only 8.0 seconds and up to a maximum speed of 222 km/h. In combination with variable valve lift, the variable valve timing system enables infinite adjustment of valve timing and duration, for further improved fuel economy and emissions.

Of course, the new top-of-the-line engine will also be available on the Opel Grandland X with the premium “Ultimate” trim, which includes a string of luxurious features as standard. The sporty yet elegant SUV thus becomes even more of an eye-catcher with 19-inch “BiColor” alloy wheels and silver coloured roof rails. Furthermore, premium ergonomic seats, leather trim, the Denon premium sound system and numerous ultra-modern assistance and infotainment systems promise a feel-good factor.

New Opel Grandland X now Available with Top-of-the-range Diesel and New Premium Trim

  • Compact SUV with 130 kW/177 hp diesel and eight-speed automatic gearbox from €37,320
  • 2.0 litre diesel adds new top-of-the-range variant to the newcomer’s engine line-up
  • Ultimate comfort with prices for the Opel Grandland X Ultimate starting at €34,240

Top diesel for Opel Grandland X: New SUV is now available with the 130 kW/177 hp 2.0 litre diesel that also produces 400 Nm maximum torque.

The new Opel Grandland X celebrated its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September and recently arrived at dealerships. Now Opel has decided to extend the powertrain portfolio for the dynamic SUV newcomer. The Grandland X can be ordered with the 130 kW/177 hp, 2.0 litre top-of-the-range diesel that delivers maximum torque of 400 Nm with immediate effect. It is combined with the new eight-speed automatic transmission for prices starting at €37,320 (all prices RRP including VAT in Germany; NEDC diesel consumption urban 5.3-5.31 l/100 km, extra-urban 4.6-4.51 l/100 km, combined 4.9-4.81 l/100 km, 128-126[1] g/km CO2).

“Our new Opel Grandland X embodies an adventurous spirit and freedom. Obviously, an especially powerful turbo diesel that promises additional driving pleasure while curbing fuel consumption is the ideal match. We have that in the new top-of-the-range 2.0 litre diesel for the Grandland X. Our new challenger in the SUV segment can unleash its full potential in combination with the smooth shifting eight-speed automatic transmission,” said Peter Küspert, Managing Director Sales and Marketing Opel Automobile GmbH.

In addition, the Opel Grandland X will also be available with the premium “Ultimate” trim, which includes a string of luxurious features as standard. The sporty yet elegant SUV becomes even more of an eye-catcher with the 19-inch BiColor alloys and silver coloured roof rails for prices starting at €34,240. Furthermore, premium ergonomic seats, leather trim, the Denon premium sound system and numerous ultra-modern assistance and infotainment systems promise a feel-good factor.

High-tech with driver pleasure guarantee: 2.0 litre diesel with eight-speed automatic

The new Opel Grandland X already generates a desire to get behind the wheel of the SUV newcomer with its generous interior, cool off-road look and athletic body work. Therefore, Opel offers lively petrol and diesel engines that guarantee efficiency and exciting performance. The latest addition to the line-up is the top-of-the-range 2.0 litre turbo diesel. The newly developed unit delivers 130 kW/177 hp at 3,750 rpm and offers maximum torque of 400 Nm at 2,000 rpm, giving the Grandland X all the power a freedom-loving SUV needs. With the 2.0-litre diesel, the Grandland X accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.1 seconds. Top speed is 214 km/h. In addition, the Grandland X has a trailer load of 2,000 kilogrammes (braked at 12% gradient) in this configuration, making it an athletic and practical towing vehicle.

Despite its feistiness, the Grandland X is very efficient with its combined consumption of under five litres. The engine also comes with an efficient exhaust emissions control system with AdBlue injection (SCR, Selective Catalytic Reduction), which removes nitrogen oxides (NOx) from the engine’s exhaust gases. The watery urea solution, which contains ammonia (NH3), reacts with the nitrogen oxides in the SCR catalytic converter and creates harmless nitrogen and water vapour.

The exemplary values are also achieved thanks to the new eight-speed automatic transmission that comes in combination with the four-cylinder diesel unit. The Grandland X is the second Opel after the Insignia to receive a premium-level, efficient eight-speed automatic transmission. It is characterised by even better and smoother shifting quality compared to the six-speed automatic transmission.

Ultimate: Premium features for highest Grandland X travelling comfort

Premium Trim: Opel Grandland X is now available as an Ultimate model variant, with highest comfort, top connectivity and advanced technologies.

Elsewhere, the Grandland X – whatever the powertrain – can now also be ordered with the latest optional premium-level trim introduced by Opel: “Ultimate” stands for highly comfortable travelling pleasure with outstanding connectivity and ultramodern technologies and assistance systems.

Opel Grandland X Ultimate: Top equipment level includes assistant systems such as 360 degree camera and automatic Park Assist.

On the outside, the 19-inch BiColor alloys, the silver coloured roof rails along with the roof and door mirrors in diamond black give the Grandland X an even more impressive appearance. On the inside, AGR-certified premium ergonomic seats, leather features along with seat heating for the front and the two outer rear passengers guarantee cosy driving pleasure. Aluminium sports pedals further increase the sporty feeling when behind the steering wheel.

The Denon premium sound system, which is also standard in the Ultimate trim, creates an outstanding acoustical experience with eight integrated speakers and a subwoofer while DAB+ increases the amount of radio stations available.

Sounds good: Opel Grandland X Ultimate with Denon premium sound-system.

Driver and passengers are always perfectly connected thanks to the personal connectivity and service assistant OnStar[2] along with the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatible

Navi 5.0 IntelliLink infotainment system with eight-inch colour touchscreen. In addition, compatible smartphones can be charged wirelessly.

However, Opel Grandland X is not just extremely comfortable. It is also extremely safe. Ultimate trim standard features such as the adaptive AFL LED headlights, the 360°camera and Advanced Park Assist ensure this.

Furthermore, Opel Grandland X also stands for best traction and stable handling on every surface. This is also thanks to the optional electronic IntelliGrip traction that ensures top road grip in diverse driving situations. The driver has a choice of five driving modes. The system then adapts the torque distribution to the front wheels, allows wheel-spin if necessary, and with the automatic transmission adjusts shift points as well as throttle response.

Challenging the establishment: Opel Grandland X is a new contender in the hotly contested market for compact Sport Utility Vehicles.

Modern, dynamic lines, a cool off-road look and the elevated seating position with good all-round visibility typical of an SUV, along with a host of top technologies as well as plenty of space and comfort – this is the new Opel Grandland X. The newcomer is a true contender in the booming SUV segment, not least thanks to its attractive price-performance ratio. The new Opel Grandland X makes its premiere at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt in September and will be at dealerships shortly thereafter. Order books are now open with prices starting at €23,700 (all prices RRP incl. VAT in Germany). It already comes with numerous features on board as standard. These include the camera-based Lane Departure Warning, Road Sign Recognition, Hill Start Assist, Radio R4.0 with Bluetooth hands-free phone capability, air conditioning with particulate and odor filter, comfort seats with numerous adjustment possibilities and a 40:60 split foldable rear seat back. Opel OnStar is already standard from the Edition trim level.

The cool, dynamic design of Opel’s new compact SUV makes it a real eye-catcher – even more so with the optional two-color finish. The 4.48 meter-long Grandland X’s athletic look boasts crisp exterior dimensions with its taut muscles and short overhangs. Thanks to the long wheelbase of 2,675 millimeters, up to five people enjoy generous space in the interior. And with a load volume of 514 to 1,652 liters for luggage and sport equipment, the new Opel SUV is even on a par with extremely spacious compact class station wagons.

The Grandland X has a first-class portfolio of ultra-modern assistance, infotainment and comfort features: Forward Collision Warning with Automatic Emergency Braking and pedestrian detection, Driver Drowsiness Alert, Advanced Park Assist and the 360° Camera – all standard with INNOVATION trim – are just some highlights. Systems such as Adaptive Cruise Control with stop function (€800), which maintains the selected speed and distance to the vehicle ahead and brakes or accelerates the Grandland X when required, increase safety even further. Typical first-class Opel comfort is ensured by AGR (Campaign for Healthier Backs) certified ergonomic seats (from €390 for driver’s seat and standard in the Grandland X INNOVATION) as well as a heated steering wheel, seat heating front and rear and the tailgate that opens and closes with a simple kicking movement. The panorama glass sunroof available for €700 floods the interior with light and provides excellent skyward visibility.

In typical Opel fashion, Grandland X drivers and passengers enjoy top connectivity with the latest generation of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatible IntelliLink systems as well as the personal connectivity and service assistant Opel OnStar including Wi-Fi Hotspot[1] and new services such as booking hotel rooms[2] and searching for parking[3]. Smartphones can even be charged wirelessly via inductive charging. For music fans who want to enjoy a top sound experience, a Denon premium sound system with eight loudspeakers and one subwoofer is available for €580.

Opel again delivers on its commitment to leadership in lighting technology, equipping the Grandland X with bright driving light thanks to Adaptive Forward Lighting (AFL) LED headlamps. Functions such as cornering light, high beam assist and auto levelling guarantee optimal illumination of the road ahead in all situations.

Driving fun with modern engines and Grip Control traction

In addition to the many driver assistance systems, the lively engines and optional electronic Grip Control traction also contribute to safe driving fun with the Grandland X. Initially two engines that boast excellent CO2 emissions are available – a real plus for tax savings and economic efficiency. Both engines can be combined with a modern six-speed manual or friction-optimized six-speed automatic transmission and come with Start/Stop as standard.

  • The 1.2 all-aluminum Turbo gasoline direct injection engine delivers 96 kW/130 hp and maximum torque of 230 Nm at 1,750 rpm (NEDC fuel consumption: urban 6.4 l/100 km, extra-urban 4.9 l/100 km, combined 5.5-5.4 l/100 km, 127-124 g/km CO2).
  • The 1.6 liter diesel with 88 kW/120 hp provides maximum torque of 300 Nm at 1,750 rpm (NEDC fuel consumption: urban 5.1-4.7 l/100 km, extra-urban 4.2-3.9 l/100 km, combined 4.6-4.3 l/100 km, 118-111 g/km CO2).
  • For customers looking for even more power, Opel will be expanding the Grandland X powertrain portfolio in the near future.

The optional electronic Grip Control also ensures that power is safely transferred to the road, providing top traction all year round and on every surface. The driver has a choice of five driving modes. The system then adapts the torque distribution to the front wheels, allows wheel-spin if necessary, and with the automatic transmission adjusts shift points as well as throttle response. This ensures best traction and stable handling regardless of whether the Grandland X is travelling on snow, mud, sand or wet surfaces.

The lively driving performance can be enjoyed in the comfort of the Opel Grandland X’s high-grade interior with feel-good atmosphere. The center stack has three sections of controls for fast and intuitive access to infotainment, climate control and chassis functions.

The SUV-typical elevated seating position ensures good visibility.

Thus equipped, the new Grandland X gasoline version is available at an entry-level price of €23,700 and the diesel variant from €26,500 (RRP incl. VAT in Germany). The newcomer joins its Opel Crossland X and bestseller Opel Mokka X siblings. At the same time, the Grandland X expands the extensive Opel portfolio in the very popular compact car segment from Astra to Zafira.
