German car maker continues supporting European top football clubs

Opel Romania and F.C. Petrolul Ploieşti have signed a partnership deal which sees the German car-maker become the main sponsor of the team. The famous Blitz logo will now be featured on all club kit as part of an extensive agreement involving local marketing and communications programs.

F.C. Petrolul Ploieşti is currenly placed second in Liga I, the Romanian first division, and has qualified for the semi-finals of the Romania Cup, which it already holds. Opel will become the club’s main sponsor when the Romanian football season resumes after its mid-winter break.

Opel is no stranger to football collaborations. In the German Bundesliga, it is partner to champions Borussia Dortmund, as well as Bayer 04 Leverkusen, 1. FSV Mainz 05, FC Freiburg and Fortuna Düsseldorf. Dortmund coach, Juergen Klopp, is also an Opel brand embassador. In Holland, the company has a long-term partnership with Feyenoord Rotterdam and also sponsors Turkey’s most successful football club, Galatasaray Istanbul. In the UK, Opel sister brand Vauxhall is the lead partner of the England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland national football teams.
