  • Innovative and detoxed interior: Sleek steering wheel, suspended lightweight seat, illuminated fabrics

Just one week after giving a tantalising teaser of its upcoming concept car, Opel has removed the covers and revealed a first full set of images along with the name of the show car which will celebrate its world premiere at the IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich (September 8 to 14, 2025). As the name suggests, the stunning Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo not only gives a preview of upcoming GSE models. It also reaffirms Opel’s commitment to the small car segment and can be driven by everybody in one of the world’s premiere racing simulators – Gran Turismo 7, this autumn. With its stunning design paired with an overall output of 588 kW (800 hp), 800 Nm of torque and a top speed of 320 km/h the Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo represents the epitome of Opel’s GSE performance sub-brand.

“Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo takes our GSE sub-brand to the next level. It not only shows what is possible on a small car platform, it also displays a clear view to the future and appeals to all kinds of car enthusiasts. For the first time ever, an Opel concept can not only be admired from afar. This autumn everybody can drive this stunning newcomer in Gran Turismo 7 and experience OMG! GSE moments for themselves. The result of the combination of the iconic Corsa nameplate with high-performance GSE traits speaks for itself,” said Opel CEO Florian Huettl.

“We are delighted to welcome Opel back to Gran Turismo with such an exciting and innovative take on the Corsa. Opel has a rich racing heritage, and the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo will be popular with GT players around the world. We love seeing Vision Gran Turismo cars brought to life as full-scale models and can’t wait for the reaction of fans when it is unveiled at the IAA Mobility 2025 on 8 September before it is displayed at the Gran Turismo World Series event in Berlin on Saturday, 20 September,” said Gran Turismo series producer Kazunori Yamauchi.

Powerful, efficient, highly dynamic

Outstanding efficiency paired with thrilling driving dynamics are key for the Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo. It comes with two 350 kW (476 hp) electric motors, one on each axle, and boasts a combined output of 588 kW (800 hp). In addition, the permanent all-wheel drive enhances grip, handling, and overall vehicle stability. In combination with the single-speed transmission, the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.0 seconds and can reach a top speed of 320 km/h. Furthermore, the inclusion of a boost function that delivers an additional 59 kW (80 hp) for up to four seconds makes overtaking on the track even easier. Once fully depleted, the boost function is completely recharged in 80 seconds.

Despite coming with an 82 kWh battery, Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo only weighs in at 1170 kg. This has been achieved thanks to the use of lightweight material throughout.

Stunning technical design matches inner values

The exhilarating performance is matched by the muscular and powerful appearance with the Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo demonstrating the freedom that the STLA Small platform enables in terms of design and proportions. The concept car has a similar footprint to a Corsa but it is lower and considerably wider. Meanwhile, the overall design shows a new, more technical execution of Opel’s bold and pure design philosophy. The body sculpture displays sharp and precise feature lines combined with technical and machined details. At the front, the latest concept from Rüsselsheim sports a new slim execution of the next generation Opel Vizor. The illuminated Opel Blitz sits proudly at the centre of the signature Opel Compass, the guiding element of the design which also acts as the car’s backbone. It is flanked by signature lighting bars on the horizontal axis which end in two three-dimensional glass blocks. The vertical axis is now also illuminated around the Blitz and the centre crease extends from the front bumper into the aero-optimised bonnet.

This principle continues at the rear with the distinctive compass signature braking light created by edge lighting technology. This combines with bold “OPEL” lettering to form the central element. The wide rear compass taillamp merges with the rear window to give the tail end a bold and detoxed look. Overall, the compass is elevated to the central spine of the concept car and is emphasised both on the exterior and interior.

Optimised aero solutions and attention to detail

To ensure that the Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo remains firmly planted on the road, it features numerous clever and optimised aero solutions. Aero curtains in front of the confident front and rear fenders along with black aero blade fender flares ensure smoother airflow thus enhancing the vehicle’s handling at high speeds. In addition, the aero wheels increase efficiency by reducing air turbulence in the wheelhouses while the active aero diffusor and active aero spoiler help increase or decrease downforce depending on the driving situation.

The usual attention to detail displayed by concept cars from Rüsselsheim is another key feature of the Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo. For example, the turn indicators are hidden in the front and rear fenders and executed as slim sleeping edge lights. In addition, truncated triangular elements inspired by historic and iconic motorsport vehicles such as the Opel Manta 400 rally car have been integrated in various components with the wheel structure, the roof spoiler and the roll cage all sporting this design. And the stunning overall appearance is further emphasised by the contrasting use of colours. The body is held in pearl white, aero elements, like the bonnet, spoiler or diffusor shine in bold yellow while the roof and front aero blade fender flares are black. Even the rims follow this use of colour. The front Goodyear tyres sit on 21-inch black and yellow rims, while at the rear they sit on white and yellow 22-inch rims. In both cases, Bilstein dampers help maintain contact with the road and further improve handling.

Detoxed racing experience

Inside the cockpit, drivers can look forward to a detoxed racing experience which also follows the signature Opel Compass. The sleek steering wheel provides an unobstructed view of the most important information which is projected on the head-up display – no further screens are needed. Thus, the Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo’s cockpit offers completely new perspectives. The suspended, lightweight driver’s sport seat – also designed in black and bright yellow – with six-point seatbelts fully integrates the driver in the driving experience and together with the roll-cage ensures highest safety standards. Elsewhere, onboard sensors alert the driver to the presence of other vehicles. For example, when a vehicle enters the blind spot, a warning appears via illuminated fabrics that cover the dashboard and door inserts.

Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo represents the latest highlight in Opel’s long concept car history. The brand with the Blitz was the first European manufacturer to present a concept car in the critically acclaimed Experimental GT in 1965. 60 years later, Opel is once again breaking new ground by presenting a physical show car at the IAA Mobility 2025 which can also be played in Gran Turismo 7 and connects the brand to the gaming community. The Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo draws on Opel’s strong motorsport roots and combines this with the iconic Corsa nameplate while simultaneously giving an outlook on future generations of sporty GSE models with the Blitz. In short, it represents the epitome of Opel’s highly dynamic GSE sub-brand and packages everything in an all-electric high-performance small car.

Opel Takes European Rally Junior Championship with Calle Carlberg

  • Barum Czech Rally Zlín: Opel Junior Carlberg clinches the title early at the penultimate round of the season
  • Successful ADAC Opel Rally Junior Team: Sixth European Championship title in nine years
  • Talent factory: ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup ‘powered by GSE’ as a springboard for young rally drivers

Opel has reaffirmed its supremacy in the Junior European Rally Championship (JERC), which has lasted for a decade. At the Barum Czech Rally Zlín in the Czech Republic, the Opel Junior and 2023 ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup ‘powered by GSE’ overall winner Calle Carlberg (25) takes the European Championship title early at the penultimate round of the season. It is already the sixth Junior European Championship title win for the brand with the Blitz after Emil Bergkvist (Sweden, 2015), Marijan Griebel (Germany, 2016), Chris Ingram (England, 2017), Martins Sesks (Latvia, 2018) and Laurent Pellier (France, 2022).

Opel is thus once again proving the success of the concept for promoting young rally talents staged together with the ADAC. No other programme can boast such a track record in the last decade. Since 2013, the champions of the former ADAC Opel Rallye Cup and the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup ‘powered by GSE’ – the world's first electric rally one-make cup, which has been held since 2021 – have automatically been promoted to the ADAC Opel Rally Junior Team where they put their undoubted skills to the test in the Corsa Rally4 in the Junior European Championship. This year, Carlberg and his Austrian teammate Luca Pröglhöf, the 2023 and 2024 Electric Cup champions, set the standards in the field of the continent's best junior rally drivers.

At the finish in Zlín, the new European champion Calle Carlberg was almost at a loss for words: "This is the best day of my life. A dream has come true. To have won this title together with Opel is something very special for me. The support I have received from Opel in recent years is difficult to put into words. Without Opel, I wouldn't be here now. I can only thank everyone who has accompanied me on this incredible journey."

Opel Motorsport boss Jörg Schrott praised all those involved: "We had the best driver in Calle, the best team in Manfred Stohl's team and the fastest car in the strong field of Europe's best rally talents in the Corsa Rally4. This sixth European Championship title is clear proof of the high level at which the ADAC Opel Rally Junior Team has been operating for a decade. The fact that we have once again succeeded in guiding a champion from our one-make cup to the European Championship title proves the consistency and high level of youth development that Opel is the only automobile manufacturer to pursue with such consistency and effectiveness. My thanks go to all those involved. The sixth JERC title makes us proud and is both recognition and incentive for the future."

The finale of the Junior European Rally Championship 2025 will be held from 3 to 5 October as part of the Rally Croatia around the Croatian capital Zagreb.

Opel Teases Stunning New Concept Car for IAA Mobility 2025

  • Performance cues: GSE logo and aerodynamic wheels exude racing allure
  • For the track: Slim racing steering wheel, lightweight driver’s seat and roll cage
  • New interpretation: Opel Compass with precise horizontal and vertical elements
Opel has teased the arrival of its latest concept car by releasing first preview images of the vehicle that will celebrate its world premiere at the IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich (September 8 to 14, 2025). While the name is still being firmly kept under wraps, the images already reveal a clear connection to Opel’s GSE sub-brand while also hinting at the next evolutionary step of the Opel Compass.

“Our upcoming concept car will once again send pulses racing. It will preview upcoming models, impress with its stunning design and appeal to car enthusiasts around the globe. We will be revealing more details soon – so stay tuned,” said Opel CEO Florian Huettl.

The brand with the Blitz has initially published a small selection of images, each showing unique elements of the latest creation of the design team around Vice President Design Mark Adams. One of the most eye-catching features teased by the images is the further development of the Opel Compass. The illuminated Opel wordmark sits at the centre and is framed by slim and precise vertical and horizontal elements.

Elsewhere, the images confirm that the concept car will tie in with the Rüsselsheim-based brand’s recent activities regarding its high-performance GSE sub-brand. In June, Opel announced that the Mokka GSE will go into serial production – and become the brand’s first all-electric high-performance car. The inclusion of the new GSE logo on the slim racing car inspired steering wheel indicates that the brand with the Blitz will explore the boundaries of battery-electric performance vehicles with the concept car. This is further underpinned by the aerodynamic and eye-catching design of the wheels with the truncated triangular elements providing a subtle nod to historic and iconic motorsport vehicles such as the Opel Manta 400 rally car.

The motorsport and performance cues continue with the futuristic and minimalistic lightweight driver’s seat and the clearly visible roll cage: Both indicate that the concept will be very much at home on the racing track and offer a thrilling yet comfortable and safe driving experience.

Opel will reveal the name along with further information on the latest concept car from Rüsselsheim soon and it will celebrate its world premiere at this year’s IAA Mobility in Munich (September 8 to 14, 2025).

Powerful Electric All-Wheel Drive: New Opel Grandland Electric AWD

  • Gripping: 509 Nm torque, 239 kW (325 hp) system output, 0-100 km/h in 6.1 s, four drive modes
  • Tough: Up to 1,350 kilogrammes towing capacity for sports and leisure equipment
  • For a pleasant journey: Outstanding comfort for up to five people, up to 1,580 litres load volume, up to around 500 km locally emissions-free range
  • ‘Electric All In’: Opel makes the switch to electric mobility easy
Summer, sun, relaxation - and personal sports equipment is already on board. For all those who do not want to queue at a rental station and pay extra upon arrival at their holiday destination, but instead want to plunge straight into the water with their own jet ski, Opel offers the ideal companion in the new Opel Grandland Electric AWD (All Wheel Drive), which has recently become available to order. The first battery-electric Opel with all-wheel drive not only offers locally emissions-free driving pleasure – it also ensures that the whole family, including luggage and sports and leisure equipment, can go on tour. This is because the well-equipped Opel Grandland Electric AWD is powerful in every respect – its torque of up to 509 Newton metres is just as impressive as its towing capacity of up to 1,350 kilogrammes 1.

Towing machine: Electric all-wheel drive SUV takes up to 1,350 kg on the hook

The always electrified Opel Grandland promises maximum travelling comfort for up to five people in every variant. The Intelli-Seats for driver and front passenger, certified by Aktion Gesunder Rücken e.V., top infotainment with up to 16-inch colour touchscreen and the transparent Pixel Box in the centre console for wireless smartphone charging are just a few examples of the clever solutions that make every journey in Opel's top-of-the-line SUV more pleasant and relaxed. The new Opel Grandland Electric AWD also has at least 485 litres of cargo space in the rear for transporting four-legged family members and luggage. If the 40:20:40 split rear seat bench is folded down, the capacity increases to up to 1,580 litres. Additionally, Opel offers plenty of practical accessories for bicycles and the like.

However, all those who want to take even larger or heavier leisure equipment with them can do so easily. The trailer coupling is fit in just a few seconds – even without any additional tools. All this leaves it to attach the trailer frame with the boat or jet ski and set off. This is possible because the new Opel Grandland Electric AWD can tow additional loads weighing up to 1,350 kilogrammes 1.

Stable, safe, comfortable: Four drive modes, Frequency Selective Damping chassis

Maximum driving comfort and safety are the top priorities for the Opel Grandland Electric AWD, even when fully loaded and towing a trailer. On the one hand, this is ensured by ESP with TSM function (trailer anti-oscillation system), which actively prevents the trailer from swaying during the journey. On the other hand, two further components promise safe driving pleasure that is always tailored to the situation in the electric all-wheel drive vehicle, which boasts a total system output of 239 kW (325 hp). Opel Grandland Elektro AWD drivers have the choice of four driving modes: ‘Normal’, ‘Eco’, ‘Sport’ and ‘4WD’. While in ‘4WD’ both electric motors of the all-wheel drive vehicle run continuously and distribute the power evenly to all four wheels to ensure optimum grip – especially on slippery surfaces – in ‘Sport’, the steering and accelerator pedal respond even more directly thanks to a special setting. Peak power and torque are available in both modes. With up to 509 Newton metres, the latter ensures that the Opel Grandland Electric AWD always gets off to a powerful and brisk start.

But that is not all: the chassis of the battery-electric top model also features Frequency Selective Damping technology as standard. Depending on the situation, road surface conditions and driving style, the unique chassis technology enables different damping characteristics for comfortable gliding at high frequencies – i.e. with short impacts such as on cobblestones – as well as for a sporty, ambitious driving style with more direct contact with the road at low frequencies. Opel Grandland Electric AWD thus reacts even more immediately and directly to any command from the driver and, as is typical for Opel, remains stable when braking, cornering and at high speeds on the Autobahn. This is another plus point that makes driving a trailer even more relaxed and safe.

And the all-electric all-wheel SUV is also durable for locally emissions-free holiday trips: In the Ultimate trim, which is currently available to order, Opel Grandland Electric AWD can travel up to 483 kilometres (WLTP 2) without charging stop; further trim versions with a range of up to 501 kilometres (provisional value according to WLTP 2) will follow later this year. Opel Grandland Electric AWD needs around 30 minutes to recharge its 73 kWh lithium-ion NMC battery (usable capacity) from 20% to 80% at a public fast-charger. And when the trailer is uncoupled at the destination, the all-wheel drive vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.1 seconds.

Electric All In: E-services included for affordable electromobility

And to give electric mobility a further boost, Opel is making it even easier and more attractive for customers – starting with the purchase of a vehicle. After all, anyone who buys a battery-electric car model such as the new Opel Grandland AWD Ultimate now will receive numerous services at the same time with ’Electric All In’3. For example, services such as an eProWallbox Move for fast charging at home, e-routes functions and eight years of mobile charging and breakdown assistance5 as well as a battery warranty are already included.
