The order books for the new sporty head of the Opel ADAM family are now open – From early next year, the ADAM S will not only be on show at Opel dealers but also available for purchase. Available from euro 18,690 (RRP including VAT in Germany), the compact powerhouse is in its element on the road and is eager to show a standard feature: Pure driving fun!

1.4-liter Turbo: Impressive performance and torque

The heart and soul of the new athlete in the Opel ADAM line-up is a 1.4-liter Turbo with 110kW/150 hp and 220 Nm torque on tap in the speed range between 2,750 und 4,500 rpm. The engine is combined with a crisp six-speed transmission with sporty gear ratios, thus ensuring perfect continuity at any speed. In this arrangement, Opel ADAM S accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in only 8.5 seconds. Fifth gear acceleration from 80 to 120 km/h is achieved in 7.9 seconds. Propulsion and aerodynamic drag neutralize each other at 210 km/h.

The 1.4-liter Turbo already meets the stringent Euro 6 emission standards and makes do with a mere 5.9 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers in the combined cycle. The dual cam phasing allows for continuously variable valve timing and a turbocharger integrated within the exhaust manifold reduces weight and delivers compact packaging. Numerous weight-saving features include a cast iron block with a hollow frame structure, hollow-cast camshafts and a plastic intake manifold.

Apart from its motor abilities, the Opel ADAM S likes nothing more than corners. Its preferred terrain is winding country roads where the specially tuned performance chassis and sharp performance steering enhance the driving characteristics. However, the pocket rocket also offers outstanding grip when necessary – tailored performance brakes ensure excellent braking characteristics and a defined pressure point. Red brake calipers can be seen behind the optional 18-inch “Typhoon” design alloy wheels if these are chosen.

The front lip spoiler, side sill moldings and an extended rear bumper characterize the bodywork of the muscular sportsman and distinguish it from its ADAM siblings. Elsewhere, the rear spoiler produces and chrome-plated tail pipe complete the sporty look. The overall feeling is completed by sport pedals and optional, ADAM S exclusive, Recaro sport seats (available for euro 1,300).
