Super price: Less expensive than predecessor with more power  - New Opel Corsa OPC.

Powerful, fast, top performance for a great price. The new Opel Corsa OPC makes its world premiere in Geneva with 152 kW/207 hp under its hood and extensive OPC equipment for just 24,395 euros (RRP incl. VAT in Germany; combined cycle fuel consumption 7.5 l/100 km / CO2 emissions 174 g/km). This makes the fastest member of the new Corsa generation even less expensive than its predecessor while it delivers 11 kW/15 hp higher output. Its maximum torque increases by up to 50 Nm to an uncompromising 280 Nm with overboost. The youngest OPC model will be available for order in the upcoming days and will be at dealerships in spring.

Turbo power: New Opel Corsa OPC with 152 kW/207 hp and up to 280 Nm torque.
“The new Opel Corsa OPC impressively proves how high our engineers have set the bar in the sporty small car segment. It is the fastest Corsa ever – validated on the Nürburgring. Yet our new high-performance athlete is not one cent more expensive. On the contrary, it offers even more than before: more power, more speed, more OPC feeling,” says Peter Christian Küspert, Vice President Sales & Aftersales Opel Group, summing up the benefits for customers. “And for those who want to pack even more OPC feeling into the production version, we offer the OPC Performance Package – the ultimate in sportiness in this class.”

Performance, speed and torque galore: Newest Corsa OPC generation

The Corsa OPC is the athlete of the small car family. It makes this clear with its characteristic design featuring large air intakes, a bold, distinctive hood, prominent rear spoiler and twin-pipe Remus exhaust system. The tailpipes add further acoustic emphasis to the 1.6-liter turbo gasoline engine’s performance potential. Compared to its predecessor, it boasts 15 hp higher output and up to 50 Nm higher torque, enabling impressive sprints. The new Corsa OPC accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds according to latest data – almost a half-second faster than the Corsa OPC from the previous generation. When overtaking in fifth gear, the new edition needs three-tenths of a second less, now just 6.4 seconds from 80 to 120 km/h. Maximum speed is also boosted by 5 km/h and now reaches up to 230 km/h. These figures are comparable to the existing OPC Nürburgring Edition – but for an amazing 4,000 euros less. The new Corsa OPC brings its performance to the road safely and solidly thanks to innovative Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) technology. Experienced drivers can even switch off the ESP completely when pushing the vehicle to its limits. Like all Opel OPC models, the new Corsa also successfully completed an extensive testing program on the most challenging race track in the world – the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Sporty and stylish New Opel Corsa OPC - Interior with Recaro performance seats
The new Opel Corsa OPC interior also creates a sporty ambience. Recaro performance seats, which offer passengers optimum side support even in the most demanding maze of corners, are prominent. The leather steering wheel, flattened at the bottom, the OPC gear knob for the short ratio six-speed gearbox and the sports pedals along with the instruments in characteristic OPC design complete the interior. In addition, even these sporty drivers do not have to forego outstanding connectivity. Opel’s IntelliLink infotainment system is available as an option and brings the world of smartphones, both Apple iOS and Android, on board the Corsa OPC.

OPC Performance Package: Ultimate racing car flair on the road

Drivers looking for even more racing flair can order the OPC Performance Package for 3,150 euros. Its highlight is a mechanical multi-disc differential lock made by Drexler that ensures even better traction in the already exemplary front-wheel drive car.

It also includes 18-inch wheels with powerful grip Michelin tires, an even more athletic chassis set-up as well as a Brembo high performance braking system with 330-millimeter brake discs on the front axle that also provide optimal deceleration during extremely challenging driving such as a lap on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

The Performance Package ensures that the Corsa OPC is the ultimate high-performance athlete.

  • Opel OnStar sets new standards in digital connectivity, service and safety

VIVA KARL: Opel Group CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann presented the company's new entry-level model, the Opel KARL known as the Vauxhall VIVA in the UK.
Impressive start to the 85th Geneva Motor Show (public days from March 5 to 15): on the first press day, Opel Group CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann opened the Rüsselsheim automaker’s stand (Hall 2, No. 2231) with the world premieres of the new small car KARL and the super-sporty Corsa OPC – the powerhouse version of the fifth generation of Opel’s bestseller. Dr. Neumann highlighted how strongly Opel stands for its models’ superb value for money.

Media scrum: Opel Group CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann and the New Opel KARL take center stage with the members of the press eager to get close up to Opel's new entry-level model.
“The Opel KARL is the perfect car for price-conscious customers looking to combine everyday suitability with comfort and modern technologies. Customers will be able to purchase an attractive five-door car for as little as 9,500 euros in Germany. Our German dealers alone have already ordered 15,000 cars, even though the KARL will not be at dealerships until June. So the KARL is really off to a flying start,” said Dr. Neumann at the Opel press conference in Geneva. “Our new-generation Corsa just came to market a few weeks ago and we have already sold over 130,000 cars. Now we’re putting the icing on the cake with the new Corsa OPC: it is a high-performance car for driving enthusiasts looking for passion and excitement – and very affordable at prices starting just slightly above 24,000 euros. With KARL, ADAM and the new Corsa we now have the strongest small-car offer in our history and the youngest portfolio on the market.”

World premiere Opel KARL: Smallest star with great potential

Namesakes: Opel Group CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann was proud to celebrate the world premiere of the new Opel KARL at the International Motor Show in Geneva.
The all-new KARL is a fully-fledged Opel with space for up to five occupants – plus two large beverage crates in the luggage compartment – for an entry-level price of just 9,500 euros (in Germany). For more comfort and safety, the 3.68-meter long five-door car can also be equipped with high-quality assistance systems that have only been available in considerably more expensive vehicle classes to date. These include the Opel Eye front camera with integrated Lane Departure Warning, power steering with City Mode, Park Assist and automatic cruise control with speed limiter.

World premiere Opel Corsa OPC: Nürburgring-tested and suitable for everyday use

Sporting and emotional spearhead: Opel Group CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann described the new Corsa OPC with its 207 hp and top speed of 230 km/h as the icing on the cake of Opel's small car portfolio.
The new Corsa OPC that was developed on the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife is now available for only 24,395 euros. 152 kW/207 hp are just waiting to be let loose. The 1.6-liter turbo engine delivers maximum torque of 280 Nm with overboost – pure torque power. A short ratio six-speed gearbox sends OPC power to the front wheels. Thus equipped, Opel‘s new small athlete sprints from zero to 100 in less than seven seconds and reaches up to 230 km/h top speed. In light of such impressive driving performance, the athlete’s fuel consumption remains very low at 7.5 liters in the combined cycle. And innovative Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) technology effortlessly merges uncompromising sportiness with a high level of comfort.

Europe premiere Opel OnStar: Begins in August in 13 markets

European premiere: Opel Group CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann presented Opel OnStar, the new mobility and service assistant, at the Geneva Motor Show.
Opel takes the next step forward in automotive connectivity by introducing Opel OnStar. OnStar is already the leading global provider of connected safety and security solutions, value-added mobility services and advanced information technology in the automobile industry. In addition, it offers an automatic connection to emergency services and smartphone remote control.

High-speed connectivity: Opel OnStar including the high-speed Wi-Fi hotspot will be rolled out across Opel's passenger car range from August 2015.

!NEW! Strong International Interest in ADAC Opel Rallye Cup 2015

  • ADAC Opel Rallye Cup starts its third season next weekend (March 6/7)
  • Participants from nine countries to battle for Europe’s toughest rallye Cup
  • Promotion to Opel works team and ERC entry beckons for juniors

High-flyer: The third edition of the successful ADAC Opel Rallye Cup will start on March 6.

On March 6 and 7, the ADAC Opel Rallye Cup begins its third season with the Saarland-Pfalz Rallye. The series for young driving talent has already generated massive international interest and a strong field of 20 teams drawn from nine countries will battle for points in the fight for the 2015 title, confirming the Cup’s status as the most successful rallye competition in Europe. The make-up of the starting line-up promises thrills aplenty: ten experienced Cup drivers are up against ten ambitious newcomers, while the field is more international than ever before, with 40 percent of drivers and co-drivers from European countries outside of
Germany. And with the Finnish duo of Laura Suvanto/Reeta Hämäläinen and the German-Austrian pairing of Melanie Schulz/Elke Aigner, the starting line-up boasts two all-female teams for the first time. Belgian Yannick Neuville, younger brother of Rallye World Cup star Thierry Neuville, made a strong impression with consistently fast times during his debut season last year and is one of the favorites this season.

Female touch: Melanie Schulz and her co-pilot Elke Aigner will form one of two all-female teams this years.
The 2015 Cup schedule offers a tough challenge across a series of rallyes with different characteristics. New events include the season-opener at St. Wendel and the Thüringen Rallye. Opel’s ’home event’, the Rallye Wartburg, will be among the highlights, with its main service area located directly in front of the Opel Eisenach plant. And, of course, participation in the prestigious ADAC Rallye Deutschland, part of the World Rallye Championship, will be a special season highlight for the teams.

While well-proven technology, based around the 140 hp Opel ADAM Cup car, enters its third season unchanged, the sporting regulations were tweaked during the winter break. All participants will now be able to compete for the ADAC Opel Rallye Cup title regardless of age. However, with its own rankings and prize money, the ADAC Opel Rallye Junior Cup remains exclusively for young drivers born in 1988 or later. The season prize money fund has been substantially increased this year and now totals around 120,000 euros. The scoring system has also been modified. The first three finishers in each rallye will collect 35, 27 and 21 points, instead of the previous 30, 24 and 20. The driver who wins the most stages in a rallye will also earn an additional five bonus points. The so-called ’Power Stage’, a special leg declared by the organizer of each rallye, now brings the top three finishers three, two and one bonus points.

Fast rallye brothers: Belgian WRC star Thierry Neuville (on left) give Opel ADAM pilot Yannick Neuville some valuable advice for the upcoming season
At the end of this season, the best junior drivers have the unique opportunity to take part in a special screening to qualify for promotion to the ADAC Opel Rallye Junior Team and drive the 190 hp Opel ADAM R2 on the international rallye circuit with a focus on the FIA ERC Junior in 2016.

“There are many good reasons to join the ADAC Opel Rallye Cup and we will do everything in our power to keep it that way,” says Opel Motorsport Director Jörg Schrott. “The composition of this year’s starting line-up shows that our concept of combining top-class technology with a professional platform, all at an affordable cost, is working very well. The idea of providing long-term and successful promotion of young driving talent has proven to be very appealing. The popularity of this approach is both a confirmation of its success and also a responsibility for us to maintain. I’m looking forward to an exciting ADAC Opel Rallye Cup 2015 season.”
