Opel continues to grow in its important German home market and has increased its market share for the 14th month in a row. According to preliminary figures, Opel achieved a market share of 6.6 percent in November with around 13,000 newly registered cars. November data underlines the clear upward trend since the beginning of the year: between January and the end of November 2021, over 147,000 new vehicles were registered with the Blitz. In the same period last year there were around 130,000 units. Market share for the first eleven months of this year is now over 6.1 percent and thus around 1.1 percentage points above the market share of 2020.

“Opel is one of the winners in the German market. Despite the restrictions caused by the pandemic and the semiconductor crisis, we are continuously increasing our market share. With the Opel Corsa and Mokka, we have excellent models for which the electric versions are in high demand. Order books for the new Opel Grandland are also well filled, and in the coming year we will also bring the next generation of Opel Astra to dealers, ”explains Opel Germany boss Andreas Marx.

Opel Corsa continues to make a significant contribution to the successful performance. Sixth generation of the bestseller small car has found almost 44,000 buyers in Germany alone since the beginning of the year. This makes Opel Corsa the most popular small car on the German market. Opel Mokka is also a bestseller - in November Opel Mokka took second place in the SUV B segment.

Significant growth in the battery-electric models Opel Corsa-e (winner of the Golden Steering Wheel 2020) and Opel Mokka-e is also particularly gratifying. Of the total of 4,800 newly registered Corsas, more than a quarter were electric. Proportion was even higher for Opel Mokka. Almost a third of customers ordered the Opel Mokka-e, the winner of the Golden Steering Wheel 2021.
