- Start of production for the first electrified Opel "made in Germany"
- Opel Grandland X Hybrid4 can cover up to 59 kilometers in purely electric mode (WLTP 1)
- Hybrid is built on the same production line as models with internal combustion engines
- Opel Grandland X plays an important role in Opel's export offensive
Another reason to celebrate at the Eisenach plant: Six months after the first Opel Grandland X rolled off the assembly line in the Thuringian plant, the first Opel Grandland X plug-in hybrid “made in Eisenach” was produced today. The first Eisenacher hybrid - Ruby Red with a black bonnet and black roof in Ultimate equipment - offers all-wheel drive and combines the power of a 1.6 liter turbo gasoline engine and two electric motors with a system output of up to 221 kW / 300 HP. Fuel consumption of the Grandland X Hybrid4 is 1.4-1.3 l / 100 km according to WLTP 1 , the CO 2 emissions 32-29 g / km (NEDC 2: 1.6-1.5 l / 100 km, 36 -34 g / km CO 2; each weighted, combined). New Hybrid4 drives up to 59 kilometers purely electrically (WLTP 1 ; 67-69 km according to NEDC 2 ).
"Today is a great day for Eisenach and a great day for Opel: Official start of production of the first Opel hybrid manufactured in Germany," says Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller. "The Grandland X Hybrid4 is synonymous with the next step in the development of our Eisenach plant - from a location where small cars were manufactured to a plant where ultra-modern, electrified compact SUVs are now rolling off the assembly line in outstanding quality."
Opel Grandland X Hybrid4 and the Opel Grandland X models with conventional combustion engines are all manufactured in Eisenach on the same flexible production line, which increases efficiency while reducing complexity. In addition, production can respond better to customer requests. Later in the year, production of the Grandland X Hybrid with front-wheel drive will also begin in the Thuringia plant. With its 1.6 liter petrol engine with turbocharger and an electric motor for driving the front wheels, the Grandland X Hybrid offers a system output of 165 kW / 224 hp (fuel consumption, weighted, combined: 1.5-1.4 l / 100 km , 34-31 g / km CO 2 according to WLTP 1 ; 1.7-1.5 l / 100 km, 37-35 g / km CO 2 NEDC 2). The hybrid with front-wheel drive can travel up to 57 km 1 purely electrically in the WLTP cycle (60-65 km according to NEDC 2 ).
Opel Grandland X is enjoying great and increasing popularity in the highly competitive compact SUV segment. Last year, sales rose 28.7 percent to around 103,000 units. Opel Grandland X is also one of the cornerstones of Opel's export offensive: Vehicle has been available from selected dealers in Russia since the end of last year and will be exported to Colombia and Ecuador this summer, and to Japan from 2021.
