Opel officially introduced the new Meriva in China. The multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) is available in two configurations, Enjoy and Cosmo, and priced between RMB 195,000 and RMB 215,000. Buyers can also choose from three trim levels and five exterior colors.

The Meriva’s distinct exterior is characterized by a low, sweeping roofline and Opel’s signature blade side-body motif. Multiple U-shaped curved surfaces add to its dynamic stance. The Meriva also incorporates many of Opel’s signature design elements, such as a front feature line, an outward horizontal grille, and a combination of boomerang-like curved daytime running lights and “eagle-eye” headlamps.
The Meriva offers enhanced back-seat access with its innovative rear-hinged FlexDoors. The full-size doors can open up to 84 degrees, which is much wider than the usual 67 degrees of conventional doors. A high upper doorframe and low doorsill add to the ease of entry to the Meriva.

The MPV has a panoramic glass roof that extends two meters, which makes the whole interior light and airy. It also has a rear window line that is five centimeters lower than the front window line, improving visibility for passengers in back.
Inside, the Meriva has a wraparound wing-shaped instrument panel with matte metallic and chrome accents as well as leather amenities with exquisite European-style stitching. Its eight-way adjustable seats, which offer class-leading comfort, received the seal of approval from the Aktion Gesunder Rücken (AGR, Action for Healthy Backs).

The interior is spacious. With the Meriva’s innovative FlexSpace rear seating system, the central rear seat can be folded down to serve as a comfortable armrest. The flexible 4:2:4 split-folding rear seats provide a cargo compartment of 400 liters up to 920 liters. Using a simple strap system, the seats can be reconfigured with one hand.
Advanced Powertrain and Safety Features
The Meriva is powered by an advanced fuel-efficient 1.4-liter turbocharged engine that delivers maximum power of 88 kW at 4,800-6,000 rpm. The engine is matched with an ActiveSelect® six-speed automatic transmission.
The Meriva is also equipped with a series of intelligent safety systems, including the electronic stability program, Adaptive Forward Lighting, and front and rear parking sensors. The ISOFIX system provides a strong link between a child safety seat and the vehicle.
In addition, the Meriva has a rigid passenger cell with a state-of-the-art energy-absorbing structure, providing maximum protection to all occupants. The Meriva was awarded a maximum five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.
Opel fully supports the Chinese government’s Three Guarantees Policy for the repair, replacement and refund of vehicles. The Meriva and other Opel models sold after October 1, 2013, including Antara, Insignia Sports Tourer and Zafira Tourer, will comply with this policy.
