- Especially high demand in Germany, Russia, UK, Italy and France
- New SUV’s popularity echoes positive media reaction
Opel Mokka 4x4 SUV |
Customer demand for the Mokka continues at a high level across
Europe, with Opel’s new SUV reaching one record order mark after
another. After just a few months, a total of more than 80,000 orders
have now been received from all over Europe. The Mokka’s winning
combination of attractive design, innovative technologies and features
typical of higher vehicle classes as well as its driving dynamics make
the all-rounder especially popular with customers in Germany, Russia,
UK, Italy and France. Forecasts indicate that more than two-thirds of
all Mokkas in Europe will be sold in these markets. The current
bestseller is the top Cosmo variant, with a 103 kW/140 hp 1.4 liter
Turbo ecoFLEX engine and All Wheel Drive (AWD).
“Our attractive newcomer is on the way to becoming one of the
bestsellers in the sub-compact SUV class, the fastest-growing vehicle
segment in Europe,” says Duncan Aldred, Acting Vice President Sales,
Marketing & Aftersales at Opel/Vauxhall. “This steep order curve is
due to the fact that, with its outstanding practical qualities, the
Mokka delivers what its muscular design promises. The Mokka is clearly
fulfilling its high customer conquest potential.”
Its phenomenal popularity with customers echoes the extremely
positive media reaction since its announcement and first test drives –
including comparison test victories in ‘Auto Motor und Sport’ (AMS) and
‘AutoStraßenverkehr’. The list of winning verdicts goes on, with three
cross-segment successes: the all wheel drive version came out on top in a
big ‘Auto Bild’ winter test; an ‘Auto Bild’ wellness test also named
the Mokka as the most comfortable of nine cars, and it showed top-class
standards in an ams seat test.
Mokka customers are consciously opting for a sub-compact SUV instead
of a larger format. They want a car with dimensions that cut a fine
presence both in and outside cities, while also being just as suitable
for leisure activities as it is for everyday needs. Research shows that
typical Mokka drivers are middle-aged and lead very active lifestyles.
They are also technology-oriented, and Mokka’s Opel-exclusive driver
assistance systems as well as safety and comfort features are
particularly important to them.
Opel Mokka – Compact dimensions, big impression
The 4.28 meter-long Mokka offers plenty of room for five occupants
with raised seating positions. Opel introduces a number of technologies
to the SUV segment in the Mokka, including the AFL+ Adaptive Forward Lighting
system, AGR-certified ergonomic seats and an integrated FlexFix bicycle
carrier system, now in its second generation and able to hold up to
three bikes on the sub-compact SUV.
There are also numerous technology features available to improve comfort and safety. These include the electronic stability program ESPPlus with Hill Start Assist (HSA) and Hill Descent Control (HDC), and a second-generation Opel Eye front camera with Forward Collision Alert (FCA) as well as enhanced Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW) functions. The Mokka can be specified with front-wheel drive or an adaptive All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system, which automatically detects when traction is needed through all four wheels and constantly optimizes available grip.
