  • Strong Opel tradition at IAA: 60 years since German brand shows first European design study

German carmaker Opel has officially confirmed its participation at IAA Mobility 2025. Regarded as one of largest mobility events in world, IAA Mobility 2025 will take place in Munich from September 9 to 14. Two years ago, brand with the Blitz grabbed headlines when it unveiled stunning Opel Experimental and thus gave a clear outlook on future of brand.

“IAA Mobility 2025 provides us with perfect platform to showcase new emotional and electrifying Opel models. We already offer a battery-electric version of each model in our line-up. Furthermore, we offer additional exciting locally emissions-free solutions such as hydrogen fuel-cell drive for our Vivaro and Movano light commercial vehicles. Obviously, we have a long tradition at IAA. We were first European carmaker to present a concept car exactly 60 years ago – so stay tuned,” said Opel CEO Florian Huettl.

At IAA Mobility 2023, Opel presented groundbreaking Opel Experimental to world – and concept car from Rüsselsheim design centre was a hit with media and public alike. Many elements first shown in Opel Experimental have since been introduced in all-new Opel Grandland. New 3D Vizor integrates Opel Blitz, illuminated for first time, and innovative ‘Edge Light’ technology. At same time, all-new Opel Grandland also takes up ‘Opel Compass’ design of Opel Experimental study – vertical crease and horizontal Vizor converge with ‘electrified’ Opel Blitz emblem in centre. In addition, rear view reveals another premiere: all-new Grandland is first Opel production model to integrate the illuminated OPEL lettering inspired by Experimental into centre of its compass light signature.
