New Opel Corsa Rally4 on the Start Line

  • New customer car: Opel Corsa Rally4 ready for 2021 season
  • Successful: New rally car impresses during testing in France
  • Big footsteps: Opel Corsa Rally4 is successor of victorious Opel ADAM R2

New Opel Corsa Rally4

With the new Corsa Rally4, Opel is opening a new chapter in its successful motor sport history. Opel Corsa Rally4 is designed for national and international customer rallying and follows the ADAM R2, with which Opel won four European junior rally championship titles in a row between 2015 and 2018. In addition, since its homologation for the 2014 season, Opel ADAM R2 has taken more than 220 class wins, 530 podiums and 32 titles in national championships.

Opel Corsa Rally4 was developed according to Rally4 regulations, which replace the R2 class. Instead of the high revving, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated engine from Opel ADAM R2, Opel Corsa Rally4 has an extremely efficient 1.2-liter, three-cylinder, turbocharged gasoline engine. Based on the production power unit, the rally engine with Magneti Marelli ECU produces an impressive 208 hp and 290 Nm meters of torque. Power is transmitted from the engine to the front wheels via a three-way adjustable limited slip differential and a sequential five-speed gearbox. Rally suspension with Eibach springs and Öhlins shock absorbers is fully adjustable.

Following months of testing, Opel Motorsport and PSA Motorsport have carried out in recent weeks further extensive test drives with the Opel Corsa Rally4 in the south of France. Over five days, the teams from Opel and PSA Motorsport again covered more than 1,000 kilometres on gravel and asphalt roads in changing conditions. Well-known test drivers Yoann Bonato and Marijan Griebel were highly impressed.

Opel Motorsport test driver Marijan Griebel, reached an all-round positive conclusion: “Opel Corsa Rally4 is very easy to drive and reacts well to changes in set-up. I immediately had confidence in the car. Thanks to the longer wheelbase, Opel Corsa is more stable in fast corners than the Opel ADAM R2 and yet very agile. Turbo engine is great and feels very powerful, especially going uphill. Thanks to the higher torque and the much wider rev band, the driver has to shift less than with a comparable non-turbo. Traction is also very good. Altogether, Opel Corsa Rally4 is a capable, fast rally car. Test drives were very productive and I had a lot of fun.”

Homologation of the Opel Corsa Rally4 is due on December 1, 2020. The production of the customer cars begins immediately afterwards. The order books will then open. “Our customers can look forward to a fast, reliable rally car, just like the Opel ADAM R2”, says Opel Motorsport Director Jörg Schrott. “Opel Corsa Rally4 was also developed with the lowest possible running costs in mind. That saves customers’ budgets and also ensures an optimum price-performance ratio.” Opel will announce price of the Opel Corsa Rally4 in the near future.

In the next step, Opel Corsa Rally4 will represent the second level of the joint promotion of talent by Opel and ADAC. The promotion begins with the ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup, where the best talents will progress to the ADAC Opel Rally Junior Team and the cockpit of an Opel Corsa Rally4. Drivers can then look forward to a demanding international programme in which they can take the next steps in driver development.

World Premiere: Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller Presents All-New Opel Mokka

  • Prices for new generation of bestseller start at €19,990 in Germany
  • Brand ambassador Jürgen Klopp impressed by new Mokka
  • All-New Mokka debuts with Opel Vizor, Pure Panel and redesigned Blitz and central nameplate at rear
  • Clear, bold design, compact dimensions, seating for five
  • Choice of electric drive or highly efficient combustion engines at start of sales
  • Opel-typical comfort and high-tech from higher market segments

Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller presented all-new Opel Mokka to the public for the first time today at the company’s headquarters in Rüsselsheim. Due to the strict hygiene rules, only a small audience was able to attend the premiere. However, no one needs to miss anything, as a video of the event is available on YouTube.

All-new Opel Mokka arouses emotions and shows the way forward for the brand. It is the first to wear the new brand face, the Opel Vizor. Same goes for the redesigned Opel Blitz lightning bolt emblem and the centrally aligned model name at the rear. All-new Mokka is also the first Opel with the Pure Panel and a fully digitised cockpit. In addition, it is the first Opel available at the start of sales with electric drive as well as highly efficient combustion engines. All-new Opel Mokka can be ordered now at an attractive entry-level price of €19,990 (all prices RRP including VAT in Germany).

Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller Presents All-New Opel Mokka

“With the all-new Mokka, we have virtually reinvented Opel. We designed and developed the car from scratch here in Rüsselsheim. Whole team worked with unprecedented passion and unwavering commitment to lead Opel into a brilliant and exciting future. At the start of orders, the new Mokka is available as a petrol, diesel or pure electric vehicle – the customer has the choice,” says Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller.

Opel brand ambassador Jürgen Klopp totally shares the enthusiasm. He already saw a pre-production car in the spring that he was able to drive. And the Liverpool FC manager could not resist the opportunity to send his congratulations via video, in typical Klopp style: “The new Mokka looked really cool in its war paint, but now, in reality? Honestly, it’s amazing! And best of all, it drives as great as it looks!”

For prices starting at €32,990 (RRP including VAT in Germany), the new Mokka-e drives emissions-free. With local incentives applied, the price is even lowered to a moderate €23,420. The powerful, almost silent electric drive produces 100 kW (136 hp) and 260 Nm maximum torque from a standing start. In the WLTP 1 cycle, the 50 kWh battery enables a range of up to 324 kilometres before recharging is required.

Breathtaking design: Mokka first model with Opel Design and Opel Pure Panel

All-new Opel Mokka impresses with perfect proportions and precision down to the smallest detail. Short overhangs and a wide stance are typical of the bold, pure appearance of the 4.15-metre long compact five-seater. Most striking feature of the front view is the unmistakable Opel Vizor. As with a full-face helmet, a protective vizor covers the new Opel face, seamlessly integrating the vehicle grille, the LED headlights and the newly designed Opel Blitz lightning bolt emblem in one element. The Mokka nameplate appears for the first time at the centre of the tailgate with a specially designed font that forms the word “Mokka” in a technical, flowing, lively way.¨

All-New Opel Mokka-e: Interior with Pure Panel

Interior also reflects the clear philosophy. New Opel Pure Panel integrates two widescreen displays and focuses on the essentials. In contrast to cockpits overloaded with information and controls, the Pure Panel is a uniquely clear design. It is clearly structured and understandable at a glance. Opel designers attached great importance to digital detoxification. In order to avoid driver distraction, they ensured the intuitive operation of the system. Buttons still control the most important functions, but without having to navigate through submenus.

Customer chooses: Electric drive or state-of-the-art combustion engines

All-new Mokka is the first car in Opel’s history that will be available at the start of sales with an all-electric model variant as well as with combustion engines – thanks to the CMP multi-energy platform. Electric motor produces 100 kW (136 hp) with 260 Newton metres of maximum torque immediately available from a standing start. Drivers can choose between three drive modes – Normal, Eco and Sport. With its 50 kWh battery, the Opel Mokka-e has a purely battery-electric range of up to 324 kilometres according to WLTP 1. Whether wall box, high-speed charging or cable solution for the household socket, the new Mokka-e is ready for all charging options: from single-phase to three-phase at 11 kW. Opel offers an eight-year/160,000 km warranty for the battery.

To make the journey in the new Opel Mokka-e even more relaxing, OpelConnect, the myOpel app and Free2Move Services, the mobility brand of Groupe PSA, offer special solutions for electric vehicles. These are easy to use via apps.

Lively yet economical petrol and diesel engines offer power outputs ranging from 74 kW (100 hp) to 96 kW (130 hp). Moderate fuel consumption and superior performance are characteristic of all powertrains (preliminary combined fuel consumption NEDC 2: 4.8-3.8 l/100km, 111-100 g/km CO2).

High efficiency and lively performance distinguish the new engines. Internal friction and losses are minimised. Turbocharger also responds immediately, with strong torque development at low rpm. The engines come with a modern six-speed manual gearbox or a smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic with shift paddles.

Marcus Lott Managing Director Engineering Opel Automobile GmbH

In addition, the engineering team in Rüsselsheim has worked particularly hard on reducing weight on the one hand (saving up to 120 kg vs the previous generation) while enhancing the body stiffness on the other. Benefits are obvious: all-new Mokka consumes substantially less, while being much more responsive, agile and fun to drive.

Innovations for all: IntelliLux LED Matrix light, Top assistance systems

All-New Opel Mokka: IntelliLux LED Matrix light

All-new Mokka stays true to Opel's brand-defining tradition of making innovative technologies from higher market segments available to a wide range of buyers. These include advanced systems such as Advanced Cruise Control (ACC) and Active Lane Positioning. Lighting system also offers leading technologies with the adaptive and therefore glare-free IntelliLux LED Matrix light featuring 14 elements, which is unique in the Mokka’s market segment. All model variants come as standard with an electric parking brake as well as Traffic Sign Recognition. A 180-degree rear view camera, Flank Guard, Side Blind Spot Alert and Automatic Park Assist are also available.

Infotainment offer includes Multimedia Radio and Multimedia Navi systems with a 7.0-inch colour touchscreen and the top-of-the-line Multimedia Navi Pro with a high-resolution 10.0-inch colour touchscreen. Monitors are integral with the new Pure Panel and angled towards the driver. Display of the Driver Info Centre extends to 12 inches.

All-New Opel Mokka-e: Interior with Alcantara

Excellent seat engineering is typical of Opel. A sporty Alcantara and a classic leather interior are both available – highly unusual for a vehicle in the Mokka’s market segment. Crowning glory is the heated leather seat with massage function for the driver. Driver and front-seat passenger can place their smartphones in the storage tray provided in the centre console, where compatible telephones can recharge inductively (wireless).

All-New Opel Mokka GS Line
Hot on the heels of the new battery-electric Opel Mokka-e, the German carmaker is now announcing all-new Mokka with state-of-the-art internal combustion engines. Highly efficient and more compact than ever, all-new Opel Mokka is the perfect combination of fun and modernity – ideal for the urban jungle as well as the wide open spaces of the Autobahn.

“All-new Opel Mokka features everything the brand stands for – today and in the future”, says Opel CEO, Michael Lohscheller. “Fun, efficient and thoroughly innovative, the Mokka exactly symbolises the values of our brand – exciting, approachable, German. Our customers are free to choose whether they want to order Opel Mokka with electric drive or one of our new extra efficient engines.”

Despite a slightly longer wheelbase (+2.0 mm), all-new Opel Mokka is 12.5 cm shorter than the previous model, while offering its five passengers a similar loading space of up to 350 litres in its luggage compartment. Its total length of only 4.15 metres makes it super-easy to manoeuvre and park in urban and suburban areas.

Design of the new Opel Mokka surprises with stunning proportions and captivating precision from its overall, bold looks characterised by short overhangs and a well-planted, wide stance, down to the smallest detail. Newcomer also stands out as the first model that features the future brand face and next generation fully digital cockpit: Opel Vizor and Opel Pure Panel, respectively. Horizontally stretched instrument panel integrates two widescreen displays; one in front of the driver is up to 12 inches in size. In order to allow intuitive usage and the driver’s continuous focus on the road, Opel designers retained control buttons for essential functions.

All-New Opel Mokka GS Line: Interior with red instrument panel trim

With the GS Line trim, Opel offers for the first time a sportier looking version of the Mokka. This new trim – including as standard red signature daylight opening, high-gloss black Vizor, black instead of chrome exterior trim elements and badges, specific front seat fabric, red instrument panel trim, black-finished light alloy wheels, two-tone roof and black headliner – make the Mokka a real eye-catcher.

Innovative technologies for all: All-New Mokka continues Opel tradition

All-new Mokka stays true to Opel's brand-defining tradition of making innovative technologies from higher vehicle classes available to a wide range of buyers. These include advanced systems such as ACC (Advanced Cruise Control) and Active Lane Positioning. Lighting system also offers leading technologies with the adaptive and therefore glare-free IntelliLux LED Matrix light featuring 14 elements, unique in the segment. All Mokka model variants come standard with LED lights at the front and rear, an electric parking brake as well as traffic sign recognition. A 180-degree panorama rear-view camera and automatic park assist is also available.

All-new Opel Mokka is based on a new version of the company's highly efficient multi-energy platform CMP (Common Modular Platform). This lightweight and efficient modular system offers maximum flexibility in vehicle development and allows the use of a purely battery-electric drive as well as internal combustion engines. Customer has the choice.

Engineering team in Rüsselsheim has particularly worked on massively containing weight on one hand, saving up to 120 kg vs the previous generation, and enhancing the body stiffness on the other hand. Benefits are obvious: All-New Opel Mokka consumes substantially less, while being much more responsive, agile and fun to drive.

New engines: Ideal balance between efficiency and performance

Lively yet economical petrol and diesel engines offer power outputs ranging from 74 W (100 hp) to 96 kW (130 hp). Moderate fuel consumption and superior performance are characteristic of all powertrain options (preliminary fuel consumption NEDC 1: combined 3.8-4.8 l/100km, 100-111 g/km CO2).

  • Fun starts with the entry-level 74 kW (100 hp) 1.2 Turbo combined with a six-speed manual gearbox (preliminary fuel consumption NEDC 1: combined 4.6 l/100km, 104 g/km CO2).
  • Higher performance is supplied by the 96 kW (130 hp) 1.2 Turbo. Despite the strong power output, fuel consumption of the all-aluminium engine remains moderate with either of the six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmissions (preliminary fuel consumption NEDC1: combined 4.5-4.8 l/100km, 103-111 g/km CO2).

Wide torque plateau for petrol engines: Top driveability

High efficiency and lively performance are characteristic of the new petrol engines. Internal friction and friction losses are minimised. Turbocharger also reacts immediately, with strong torque development already at low rpm. Maximum torque of the 74 kW (100 hp) 1.2 is 205 Nm; the top 96 kW (130 hp) unit even develops 230 Nm. With the majority of maximum torque available in a wide band, both engines are notable for their high driveability. At least 95 per cent of maximum torque is available between 1,500 and 3,750 rpm – in combination with the low vehicle weight, this enables very good driveability.

Driving performance matches the high efficiency of the engines. All-new Opel Mokka with 96 kW (130 hp) and manual transmission reaches a maximum speed of 202 km/h 2, with zero to 100 km/h acceleration in 9.2 seconds. Equally impressive is the 1.2 Turbo with 74 kW (100 hp). With a top speed of 182 km/h, it accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in around eleven seconds.

74 kW (100 hp) entry-level engine is fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard. With the 100 kW (130 hp) 1.2, customers can choose from a six-speed manual or a smooth eight-speed automatic. Adaptive shift programmes and Quickshift-technology represent the state-of-the-art in the Mokka’s market segment. Drivers can shift gears themselves via the standard paddles at the steering wheel.

High-tech and high efficiency: 1.5 diesel

Two petrol engines are joined by a lively 1.5-litre diesel with six-speed manual transmission, producing 81 kW (110 hp) and maximum torque of 250 Nm (preliminary fuel consumption NEDC 1: combined 3.8 l/100km, 100 g/km CO2).

For optimum exhaust after-treatment, the diesel engine’s emissions reduction system – consisting of a passive oxidation catalyst/NOx adsorber, AdBlue injector, SCR catalyst and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) – is grouped together as a compact single unit, as near as possible to the engine. The NOx adsorber acts as a cold start catalyst, reducing NOx emissions at temperatures below the SCR light-off.

Fans of electric-mobility can order the Opel Mokka-e. Ccommon Modular Platform (CMP) accommodates a variety of powertrains.

All-New Opel Mokka GS Line & Opel Mokka-e

Leader in the segment: High-tech assistance systems and lighting technology

All-new Opel Mokka arrives in the B-segment with top innovations that until recently have only been available in the luxury class. Forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection operates at speeds above 5 km/h. If a vehicle or pedestrian ahead is approached too fast, the system sounds a warning chime and displays a message in the Driver Information Centre. If a collision is imminent, the braking system is prepared and, if necessary, emergency braking is deployed to minimise the effects of a potential collision. Below 30 km/h, system can bring the vehicle to a complete stop. If the speed exceeds 30 km/h, speed is reduced and the driver must actively brake.

Adaptive cruise control maintains a certain distance between the new Mokka and the vehicle ahead, using radar and camera sensors. Operative between 30 and 180 km/h. Vehicle speed increases or decreases to follow the vehicle ahead, but will not exceed the set speed. With automatic transmission, the system offers additional stop and go functionality. It can brake the car to a standstill and follow the vehicle ahead in traffic jams.

All-new Mokka underlines again that Opel is a leader in lighting technology. All variants are equipped with latest generation LED lamps – from daytime running lights in typical Opel graphics to headlamps and front fog lights. An absolute highlight in this segment is the adaptive IntelliLux LED Matrix light with a total of 14 elements. As with the Opel Insignia, Opel Astra and the new Opel Corsa, the lighting system enables driving on permanent high beam. In order to prevent glare for drivers of oncoming or preceding vehicles, the individual LED elements can switch off in milliseconds to cut vehicles out of the light cone – nobody is dazzled, yet Mokka passengers experience stadium-like illumination. In the rear, the choice for LED-only technology has allowed designers to go for very thin, stretched lights enhancing the feeling of precision and quality.

Excellent seating engineering is par excellence typical of Opel. Various six-way ergonomic seats are available, which are individually adjustable.
